THE PURPOSE OF THIS MANUAL

This operation manual is mainly focused on the set-up, cleaning and routine maintenance of the Comfort Glide Air Blower. We recommend keeping this manual handy to answer questions related to the system.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – INTENDED USE

The Comfort Glide Air Blower is a component of the Comfort Glide air system designed to help clinicians safely reposition and move patients.
The system has been designed to reduce risks and make patient repositioning and transfers easier and safer.

GENERAL SAFETY

It is important to read the information in this user manual before you use your Comfort Glide Air Blower.
Please follow the guidelines below for your added safety and maintaining system performance.
Avoid exposing the Air Blower to flammable anesthetics.

DEVICE FEATURE

Part Identification:

INFLATING COMFORT GLIDE AIR SHEET

a. Patient should be in a supine position with the bed at a 0 degree incline
b. Place Comfort Glide Air Sheet underneath the patient.
c. Place the Comfort Glide Air Blower directly on flat ground or use the carabiner to hang the unit on the bed frame.
d. Plug the power cord into the nearest standard wall outlet
e. Connect the air hose to one side of the Comfort Glide Air Sheet air intake opening and securely fasten into place. Choose the air input on the side that will permit free movement of the hose.

CAUTION: It is important to routinely inspect power cable to ensure it is not obstructed or causing a tripping hazard. Check the power cable is not under strain or damaged.

f. If using for lateral transfer, ensure that transfer surfaces are touching and lock all wheels.
g. Turn on the green power switch and the air blower will inflate the Comfort Glide Air sheet. When the Comfort Glide Air sheet is fully inflated, the sheet is ready to use and the patient can be
repositioned.
h. Ensure patient is centered on the surface prior to deflation.
i. Turn off Air Blower and raise the bed or stretcher rails.

CAUTION: Never leave the patient unattended with the Air Blower on.

MAINTENANCE & TROUBLESHOOTING

No daily maintenance is required. It is intended this equipment should only be serviced by qualified and authorized technical personnel. Please contact your Medline representative if the below troubleshooting solutions do not work

Fault/Problem Description Possible Root Cause Solution
The Air Blower does not turn on. The Air Blower is not receiving power.

Check power cord plug is securely connected and fits snugly into the outlet. Secure plug connection and turn on Air Blower power switch.
Blown fuses in pump and plug.| Check for blown fuses in pump and plug. Replace fuse if blown.
Power outlet is faulty.| Try another power outlet.
Defective Air Blower Unit.| Replace with new device. Contact your Medline representative.
The Comfort Glide Repositioning Sheet cannot be inflated.| Hose not properly connected.| Verify that the hose is properly con- nected to the Air Blower. The hose has 2 prongs that snap into place to connect it to the Air Blower unit.
Air Flow is not sufficient.| 1.     Check hose connection points and re- connect if needed.

2.    Check hose for tears or kinking.

3.    Check for punctures or rips in the Comfort Glide Air Sheet.

4.    Check the air filter for re- strictions. Clean/replace as necessary.

WARNING: Disassembly or attempts to make repairs may void
Manufacturer’s Warranty. Please consult the Statement of Warranty in this Manual for more information.
If the problem is not resolved, please contact your Medline representative

CLEANING & DISINFECTION PROTOCOL

  1. Please follow your facility’s guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting the Comfort Glide Air Blower. Ensure that the power unit is off.

  2.  Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  3.  Examine the surface of the Air Blower for visible dirt and other substances.

  4.  Refer to your Bio-Medical Engineering or Infection Prevention
Department for your facility’s protocol for cleaning and disinfecting.

  5. Perform the following steps to clean the power unit and hose fittings:
    – Wipe all controls, chassis and hose fittings with a damp cloth and a mild detergent.
    – Air dry all treated surfaces.

GENERAL DISASSEMBLY OF PARTS

Before disassembling any parts, ensure that the power unit is off and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  1.  Changing the air hose:
    a. Use a flathead screwdriver to disconnect the prongs on the hose from the blower unit.

    b. Push the hose out to replace with a new one.

  2. 2. Changing filter:
    a. Unscrew 3 screws on the bottom cover.

    b. Open the filter cover and identify the filter.

    c. Replace the filter and assemble the parts in reverse order

WARNING: Switch off the electrical supply to the pump and disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet before cleaning and inspection.
All equipment should be inspected. Any item that is visibly dirty should be properly cleaned or removed. It is recommended that the system is cleaned regularly and after each patient use.

essential when stacking or collocating equipment and when routing cables and accessories.
WARNING: RF mobile communications equipment can effect medical electrical equipment.

ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY

Electric devices may interact due to electro-magnetic radiation. We recommend a safety distance of at least 1 meter, especially for sensitive equipment. Upon request, we can provide a table with more detailed electromagnetic information.

Recommended separation distances between

portable and mobile RF communications equipment and the Comfort Glide Air Blower

The Comfort Glide Air Blower is intended for use in an electromagnetic environment in which radiated RF disturbances are controlled. The customer or the user of the Comfort Glide Air Blower can help prevent electromagnetic interference by maintaining a minimum distance between portable and mobile RF communications equipment (transmitters) and the Comfort Glide Air Blower as rec- ommended below, according to the maximum output power of the communications equipment.
Rated maximum output power of transmitter

W

| Separation distance according to frequency of transmitter m
150 kHz to 80 MHz

d = 1,2

| 80 MHz to 800 MHz

d = 1,2

| 800 MHz to 2,7 GHz

d = 2,3

0,01| 0,12| 0,12| 0,23
0,1| 0,38| 0,38| 0,73
1| 1,2| 1,2| 2,3
10| 3,8| 3,8| 7,3
100| 12| 12| 23
For transmitters rated at a maximum output power not listed above, the recommended separation distance d in meters (m) can be estimated using the equation applicable to the frequency of the transmitter, where p is the maximum output power rating of the transmitter in watts (W) according to the transmitter manufacturer.
NOTE 1: At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the separation distance for the higher frequency range applies. NOTE 2: These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people.

NOTE : If necessary to achieve the IMMUNITY TEST LEVEL, the distance between the transmitting antenna and the ME EQUIPMENT or ME SYSTEM may be reduced to 1 m. The 1 m test distance is permitted by

IEC 61000-4-3.

a.        For some services, only the uplink frequencies are included.

b.        The carrier shall be modulated using a 50 % duty cycle square wave signal.

c.         As an alternative to FM modulation, 50 % pulse modulation at 18 Hz may be used because while it does not represent actual modulation, it would be worst case.
