What is device registration for
- Allows to assign offline devices to your company.
- Ensures that your device belongs to your company and no other company can re-register or add the system to Protegus.
- Allows device configuration before device control is handed to the end-user.
How to register
- By adding a system to Protegus
- By using a registration function
Permission
Device registration is dependent on the permission rule “Unassigned devices”
No matter what permissions are set, the device will always be automatically registered when any user adds a system to Protegus
- If “Company admin” adds a system, the device will be assigned to the company.
- If the “Installer” adds a system, the device will be assigned to their company.
- If the “General user” (end-user) adds a system, the device will be registered without the company assigned. Such a device can later be reassigned to a company.
Registration
As a company, open the “Systems” window:
Click “Add” on the right side of the systems table and then “Register device ”
If you want to register a single device, enter the unique ID (IMEI or MAC) of the device (which can be found on a sticker on a box) and click “Register ”
You may also register multiple devices. Click on “Multiple devices” tab .
Paste the unique ID list from another spreadsheet or type IDs by hand. Each unique ID must be placed on a new line.
Click “Register” and you will be presented with the summary.
Once done, click “Finish” to return to the “Systems” window, and your newly registered devices will appear in the list.
- Registered devices have no name or owner assigned but they belong to a company.
- Device settings can be accessed and changed once it has been connected.
