SAFETY INFORMATION

• The capstan winch may only be operated by persons who have been trained in its use.
• Always make sure that the capstan winch is in safe operating condition before use.
• The capstan winch must not be used if damage to the device is determined.
• The pulling rope and all parts connected to it, must meet the requirements stated in the Technical Specifications and must not exhibit damage of any kind.
• The operating staff must use personal protective equipment in line with the construction site assessment.
• Before starting work, remove any obstacles in the work area.
• The capstan winch must be fastened such that either the ground or the system can safety absorb the tensile forces.
• The operator stands next to the winch, keeping a sufficient safety distance and pulls the pulling rope, applying very little force, at a 90° angle to the pulling direction via the safety rope guide.
• During pulling, do not reach into the capstan or the wound infeed and output side rope section.

INTENDED USE

• The CW 800 E capstan winch is designed ONLY for horizontal cable pulling.
• Transportation of persons is forbidden!
• Any other than the described use represents unintended use.
• The service life of 4 years can be exceeded many times over withcorresponding care.
• Unintended use or modification of the machine invalidates the statutory warranty liability of the machine manufacturer as well asthe product liability.
• RUNPOTEC recommends the use of Ø 10 mm polyester for the pulling rope as this has the ideal wrap factor

COMMISSIONING / ASSEMBLY / SET UP

THE PORTABLE CW 800 E CAPSTAN WINCH FOR HORIZONTAL CABLE PULLING CAN BE SECURED IN VARIOUS WAYS.

The housing can be bolted to the ground 7 or secured with a strap 12 and suitable load attachment accessories via the fastening lug 8 to a fi xed object (e.g., a tree). You can also used the latching bolts 6 to secure the housing on the RUNPOTEC trolley 11 on the rail. The trolley itself can be bolted down, attached directly to a trailer hitch 13 or fastened to a fi xed object with a strap fed through the fastening lug 12 .

USE OF THE CW 800 E CAPSTAN WINCH

The pulling rope is guided past on the inside by the rope guide 4 .

Wind at least 3 loops of the pulling rope around the capstan 2 or 3 (the more loops, the higher the pulling force) and then route out at a 90° angle through the safety rope guide 5 . Keep the pulling rope tensed to avoid tangling

• The cable to be pulled is connected to the pulling rope – preferably using a connecting swivel.
• Switch the motor on with the green button and off with the red button.
• Switch on the motor and start pulling.
• The operator stands next to the winch, keeping a sufficient safety distance and pulls the pulling rope, applying very little force, at a 90° angle to the pulling direction via the safety rope guide.
• The force applied should only be strong enough so as to achieve the desired feed rate. Pulling with greater force will not increase the capstan winch’s pulling force!
• If the pulling rope slips on the reel, you can counteract this by applying more force when pulling or by winding on a further 1–2 loops. Do NOT press the rope onto the pulley by hand! Danger of injury!
• Due to the ideal wrap factor, RUNPOTEC recommends polyester pulling ropes Ø 10 mm.
