REMOVAL/INSTALL OF OIL DISTRIBUTOR SEAL KIT (917-136)
Acura 1999–97, Honda 2002–75
GENERAL TECH TIP
- There are two different size seals used in Honda distributors. This kit contains both sizes. Be sure to select the one that fits tightly into distributor housing.

Instructions
STEP 1: Remove distributor from engine. Consult service manual for
removal procedure of distributor.
STEP 2: Remove distributor cap and ignition rotor.
STEP 3: Using an awl or similar tool make scribe marks on drive flange
and shaft to maintain original orientation prior to removal.
STEP 4: Remove drive flange retaining snap ring.
STEP 5: Slide out drive flange retaining pin. Remove flange and thrust washers.
STEP 6: Remove ignition coil if equipped with internally mounted coil.
Proceed to Step 7 if you have an externally mounted coil.
STEP 7: Remove shaft and stator plate assembly. Be sure to make scribe
marks on the plate and housing before loosening mounting screws to maintain
factory orientation.
STEP 8: Remove seal by using a screwdriver or suitable tool to push seal out from bottom side of distributor.
STEP 9: Lubricate new seal with a thin coat of grease to ease
installation and prevent damage to seal during installation.
STEP 10: Drive in new seal using a seal driver or a socket 1mm smaller in
diameter than outside diameter of seal.
STEP 11: Reinstall stator and plate, be sure to align scribe marks placed
on plate and housing.
STEP 12: Reinstall thrust washers, drive flange, drive flange pin, and
snap ring. Align scribe marks-placed on flange and shaft in step 3 prior to
sliding drive flange onto shaft.
STEP 13: Reinstall distributor onto engine.
