Product Information

Specifications

  • Model: Dampflokomotive BR 64, DR
  • Manufacturer: Modelleisenbahn GmbH
  • Contact Information: Email: info@moba.cc, Tel.: 00800 5762 6000

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Unpacking the model: Carefully remove the model from the packaging using the foil (Fig. 1).
  2. Important Note: Follow instructions for changing the skid (see Fig. 11).
  3. Changing Traction Tires: Remove crank pins first (Fig. 9). Then, remove the traction tire using a needle or a fine screwdriver. When fitting the new traction tire, ensure it is not twisted (Fig. 9).
  4. Assembly: Pay attention to the correct positioning of the contacts during assembly (Fig. 10).

Starting Locomotive Operation

  1. Before putting your model into service, oil the bearings of the coupling rods to prevent bad running qualities or damage to the locomotive (see Fig. 7).
  2. Operating Instructions: Run the loco forwards and backward without load for about 30 minutes each to optimize circuit and tractive power. The minimum radius for operation is R3 (419.6 mm) or R2 (358 mm) for the ROCO track system (the model without tube protection pistons should be driven carefully on R2) (Fig. 2).
  3. Cleaning: Clean tracks are essential for smooth operation. Use track cleaning van item no. 46400 or track cleaning rubber item no. 10002 to remove heavy dirt.
  4. Fittings: Different couplings are possible (Fig. 3). Use ROCO close coupling for best results. Mount additional kits from the accessory bag cautiously, and use glue only if specified.
  5. Digital Mode: For digital operation, remove the loco body (Fig. 4), remove the jumper from the interface, and insert the decoder plug into the interface as shown in Fig. 6.

Maintenance of the Model

To ensure longevity, service the model regularly, especially after approximately every 30 hours of operation.

Starting locomotive operation

Unwrap model: Take the loco carefully out of the packing with the help of the foil (fig. 1).

Very important: Before taking into service your model these bearings of the coupling rods must be oiled as otherwise there would be the risk of bad running qualities of damage to the locomotive (see fig. 7).

  • Operating instructions: Before use is advisable to let the loco go around about 30 minutes forward an 30 minutes backward without load, to obtain an optimal circuit and best tractive power. The smallest radius this model should run is R3 (419,6 mm) or rather R2 (358 mm) of the ROCO track system (model without tubes protection pis-tons would run only if driven very carefully on R2) (fig. 2).
Your locomotive will run smoothly on clean tracks only. For this purpose, we recommend using item no. 46400, ROCO track cleaning van, or item no. 10002, ROCO track cleaning rubber, for removing heavy dirt.

  • Fittings: Operation is possible with different couplings (fig. 3). We recommend using the ROCO close coupling. In the enclosed accessory bag you will find small kits to be fitted on your locomotive. Please mount them cautiously.
Attention: Use glue only if indicated (fig. 3).

  • Running in digital mode: First, remove the loco body (fig. 4). Then remove the jumper from the interface. Finally put the plug of the decoder into the interface as shown in fig. 6.

Maintenance of the model

To enjoy your model for a long time, it is necessary to service it regularly (i.e. after it has been in op-eration for approximately 30 hours).

  1. Cleaning of wheel contacts: Wheel contacts easily get dirty on tracks that are not entirely clean. Use a small brush to remove dirt from spots marked in Fig. 8.
  2. Lubrication: Apply tiny oil drops to spots marked in fig. 7. Prior to lubrication dismantle the loco body (fig. 4). We recommend using item no. 10906, Roco oiler. For lubrication of the gear parts (e.g. cogwheels, worm) we would recommend our Roco special grease (item no. 10905). Attention: Please do not oil these parts when using our grease.
  3. Steam generator application (fig. 5): First remove the smokestack (fig. 4) and then push in the Seuthe steam generator no. 10 (running in dig-ital mode: use no.11). Observe the manufacturer’s instructions!
  4. Change of traction tyre : First pull out the crankshaft pin (fig. 9). Take out the wheelset and remove the traction tyre using a pin or a fine screwdriver (fig. 9). When pressing on the new traction tyre please avoid twisting it.
  5. Carbon Brush Changing: First, remove the loco-motive body (fig. 4), and then the motor (fig. 10).

Assembly: During assembly please take care of the correct position of contacts (fig. 10).

FAQ

Q: What should I do if my locomotive tips over with a filled steam generator?

A: If this happens, ensure the locomotive is completely emptied before any warranty claims are processed. Failure to comply may result in warranty claim expiration and return of the locomotive at your expense.
