Recommended Speed Settings
The guide below provides recommendations for speed settings. Begin at speed 1
and incrementally raise the speed as specified in the recipe. Note: Generally,
the operation time for speeds 1 and 2 is around 15-30 seconds.
Recipe | Tool | Speed |
---|---|---|
Cakes (ready-made & homemade) | Beater | 5 or 6 |
Shortcrust pastry | Beater | 5 or 6 |
Mashed potatoes | Beater | 5 or 6 |
Glazes | Beater | 5 or 6 |
Egg whites (for meringues etc.) | Whisk | 8 or “Pulse” |
Whipped cream | Whisk | 7 or 8 |
Gelatine desserts | Whisk | 1 |
Bread, heavy dough | Dough hook | 1 – 3 |
Using the Mixer Accessories
- Begin by placing all liquid ingredients into the bowl and then add the dry ingredients. Always remain near the kitchen machine during use. Add ingredients close to the sides of the bowl, avoiding direct placement into the rotating tool.
- For cake mixtures, use speed 3. Follow the recommended time on the package for optimal mixing results.
- Mixtures with a significant liquid content should be processed at low speed to prevent splashing. Gradually increase the speed as the mixture thickens.
- When working with thin types of dough, opt for medium speed. Periodically switch off the kitchen machine to clean the sides using a spatula.
- Shortcrust pastry, being one of the thickest dough types, can be made easier by:
- Adding room temperature butter or margarine.
- Introducing ingredients one at a time and ensuring thorough mixing before adding a new ingredient.
- Adding one cup of flour at a time.
- If difficulties arise in mixing the dough, increase the speed. In case something becomes stuck in the tool or the motor stops inadvertently, turn off the machine, unplug it from the power socket, resolve the issue, or reduce the amount in the bowl. Allow the motor to cool for 5 minutes before restarting the appliance.
- Use the whisk for whipping egg whites, cream, and similar items. Avoid using the whisk for thick mixtures like dough and mashed potatoes.
- When whipping egg whites or cream, ensure there are at least 2 egg whites or 1 cup of cream in the bowl.
