Product Usage Instructions

Preparation

  1. Take out the heatsink from its packing box.
  2. Ensure the heat sink is properly oriented to the system cooling air flow direction as shown in Figure 1 & Figure 2.

Applying Thermal Interface Material (TIM)

  1. Remove the protection cover of TIM or thermal grease.
  2. Inspect pre-applied TIM for any damage.

Installing Heat Sink

  1. Place the heat sink directly on top of the CPU (Figure 3).
  2. Align the six heat sink mounting screws with the mounting studs on the socket stiffener frame.
  3. Tighten the screws using a screwdriver with Torx T20 bit following the specified torque settings.

Final Steps:

  1. Follow the diagonal installation pattern to tighten all six heat sink mounting screws.
  2. If applicable, install the heat sink cooling fan and holder assembly and connect it to the motherboard.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Take out the heatsink from its packing box. Before installing the heat sink, please check that heat sink must be properly oriented to the system cooling air flow direction (Figure 1 & Figure 2).

  1. Remove the protection cover of thermal interface material (TIM) or thermal grease. The required amount of TIM has been pre-applied on the bottom of the heat sink. Inspect pre-applied TIM for any damage.
  2. Place the heat sink directly on top of the CPU (Figure 3) so that the six heat sink mounting screws are aligned with and seated on the six heat sink mounting studs or nut standoffs on the socket stiffener frame. The heat sink must be properly oriented to the system cooling air flow direction. Please note that the heat sink cooling fan should not be attached to the heat sink body when tightening the six heat sink mounting screws.
  3. Use a screwdriver with Torx T20 bit and adjust the screwdriver torque setting to 12.5~15.0 kgf-cm (10.8~13.0 lbf-in). Before turning on the screwdriver, make sure that the screwdriver bit is fully engaged in the cavity of the heat sink mounting screw head. Keep heat sink mounting screw vertical during installations.
  4. Tighten the two diagonal heat sink mounting screws, i.e. the #1 and #2 screws (Figure 4) completely tighten screws one-at-a-time Then do the same with the remaining four diagonal heat sink mounting screws.

  1. Follow the diagonal installation pattern on all six heat sink mounting screws to ensure that the bottom of the heat sink is properly seated on the CPU and to prevent the heat sink from tilting.
  2. For XE04 series, adjust the screwdriver torque setting to 5.0~4.0 kgf-cm (4.3~3.5 lbf-in).install the heat sink cooling fan and holder assembly on the heat sink body and then tighten the single locking screw on top of the fan holder (Figure 5 & Figure 6).
  3. Connect cooling fan connector to the fan header labeled for CPU on the motherboard.

This product has a limited 1 year warranty in North America and Australia.

  1. Product component defects or damages resulted from defective production is covered under warranty. Defects or damages with the following conditions will be fixed or replaced under SilverStone Technology’s jurisdiction.

    • Usage in accordance with instructions provided in this manual, with no misuse, overuse, or other inappropriate actions.
    • Damage not caused by natural disaster (thunder, fire, earthquake, flood, salt, wind, insect, animals, etc…)
    • Product is not disassembled, modified, or fixed. Components not disassembled or replaced.
    • Warranty mark/stickers are not removed or broken.
      Loss or damages resulted from conditions other than ones listed above are not covered under warranty.
  2. Under warranty, SilverStone Technology’s maximum liability is limited to the current market value for the product (depreciated value, excluding shipping, handling, and other fees). SilverStone Technology is not responsible for other damages or loss associated with the use of product.

  3. Under warranty, SilverStone Technology is obligated to repair or replace its defective products. Under no circumstances will SilverStone Technology be liable for damages in connection with the sale, purchase, or use including but not limited to loss of data, loss of business, loss of profits, loss of use of the product or incidental or consequential damage whether or not foreseeable and whether or not based on breach of warranty, contract or negligence, even if SilverStone Technology has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

  4. Warranty covers only the original purchaser through authorized SilverStone distributors and resellers and is not transferable to a second hand purchaser.

  5. You must provide sales receipt or invoice with clear indication of purchase date to determine warranty eligibility.

  6. If a problem develops during the warranty period, please contact your retailer/reseller/SilverStone authorized distributors or SilverStone http://www.silverstonetek.com.

Please note that:

  •  You must provide proof of original purchase of the product by a dated itemized receipt;
  • You shall bear the cost of shipping (or otherwise transporting) the product to SilverStone authorized distributors. SilverStone authorized distributors will bear the cost of shipping (or otherwise transporting) the product back to you after completing the warranty service;
