Safety Information
Warning!
- The instructions provided herein are only for general information. ALWAYS perform all repairs in full compliance with your vehicle’s service manual. Particularly, ALWAYS use the transmission fluid type and amount listed in the service manual. After any repair, test your engine and vehicle in your workshop and at low speed before returning to normal use. Failure to do so may result in brake failure, serious property damage, and severe personal injury.
- Use this tool exclusively for refilling automatic transmission fluids (ATF) and manual transmission fluids (MTF). While it may be used for filling other automotive fluids, do not do so UNLESS you have first thoroughly cleaned any residual ATF/MTF from the reservoir and tubing.
- ALWAYS tight fasters, nuts, fill plug caps down to their stated torques in your vehicle’s manual. Failure to do so may result in serious property damage and severe injuries. NEVER use this kit for or around highly flammable, corrosive, or explosive fluids and gases such as gasoline, strong acids, and brake fluids. Never smoke or allow open flames around flammable or explosive fluids or gases. Never use it to remove fluids hotter than 140°F (60°C).
- ALWAYS follow the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) procedures of your vehicle.
- DO NOT allow children or those unfamiliar with this product and its compatible brake systems to use it. Do not use while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any medication that negatively affects your judgment or reflexes.
- Keep children and bystanders away during use.
- Keep your work site clean and well-lit. Cluttered and dark work areas invite accidents.
- For best results, keep the kit clean and dry. Remove any fluid, oil, or grease before and after work, particularly from the handle and fittings.
- ALWAYS use personal protective equipment (PPE) suitable to your task. Always wear ANSI-approved eye and hand protection while using this product.
- Nonslip footwear is also highly recommended. Other equipment such as ear, head, and body protection may also be necessary depending on your work and other equipment.
- Dress properly for automotive servicing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry and keep hair, clothing, gloves, hoses, and tools away from any moving parts during use.
- ALWAYS know and understand the specific safety warnings and instructions for your vehicle before using this kit. Use the correct fluids, pressures, adapters, etc. for your vehicle.
- Make sure the parking brake is activated before beginning any work. Use with jack and jack stands able to fully support the necessary weight. Never touch any heated surface with exposed skin.
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
- DO NOT use excessive pressure with this product and do not force it or its attachments.
- Maintain this product. Check for misalignment, binding, wear, or other damage before use. If any damage is detected, repair or replace the problematic components before further use.
- In a large shop, mark such tools “DO NOT USE” until they have been repaired. Only replace components with identical parts.
- Automotive repairing is intrinsically dangerous and this manual cannot cover all possible situations that you may encounter using this tool. ALWAYS exercise discretion and good judgment.

Operation
Danger!
- ALWAYS carefully test your vehicle after adding new fluid.
- Correct any problems before resuming full use of your vehicle.
Warning!
Before draining old fluid, make sure the engine temperature has dropped below 140°F (60°C).
Preparation
- Shift your car to neutral. Activate the parking brake. If your application requires raising the vehicle, use appropriate safety stands to prevent potentially fatal accidents.
- Use the dash temperature gauge, a diagnostic scan tool, or a handheld infrared thermometer (not included) to check that the engine temperature has dropped below 140°F (60°C).
- Check the vehicle’s service manual to decide how many quarts of transmission fluid may be needed.
- Put on your PPE, always including ANSI-approved safety glasses and work gloves even when working with common oils at room temperature. Additional equipment may be necessary for your application.
- Extract or drain the old transmission fluid using a transmission fluid extractor (not included) following its separate manual.
- Replace the drain plug and torque it down to what’s required by the OEM.
- Check that the reservoir is not pressurized. If so, turn open the valve on the quick coupler to depressurize.
- Remove the dispenser lid using the provided wrench (D). Fill the transmission fluid reservoir with the correct transmission fluid.
- Replace the dispenser lid and retighten it using the lid wrench until it is securely locked.
- Pull back the sleeve on the quick coupler and connect it to the correct adapter (E). Note that some transmission boxes have filled plug holes that face downward. In such a case, use the threaded adapters and screw one of them onto the fill plug hole. You can quickly find out the size of the correct adapter by measuring it against the size of your drain plug.
Dispensing New Transmission Fluid
- Remove the fill plug cap using a torque wrench. For fill plug holes that face downward, now is the time to screw one of the threaded adapters onto the fill plug hole.
- For regular fill plug holes, hook or insert the adapter into the fill plug hole. To fill plug holes that face downward, pull back the sleeve on the quick coupler and connect it to the installed threaded adapter.
- Turn open the lever on the quick coupler.
- Press and pull the pump handle in a controlled and repeated way. To dispense faster, close the quick coupler’s valve, give the pump a quick press and release, and turn the valve open.
- Visually check that the fluid is being siphoned into the fill plug hole.
- Note that some transmission systems may require more than one reservoir of fluid.
- In such a case, follow the steps below to refill the reservoir.
- a. Close the valve on the quick coupler.
- b. Press the reservoir pressure plug as shown to depressurize the reservoir.
- c. Remove the reservoir lid with the lid wrench.
- d. Fill the reservoir with the correct fluid of the correct volume.
- e. Retighten the lid with the same wrench.
- f. Repeat steps 4–5.
- Close the valve on the quick coupler when the correct quarts or liters of fluid have been dispensed into the transmission.
- Remove the adapter from the fill plug hole and replace the fill plug, torquing it down as required by the OEM.
- Depressurize the reservoir using the pressure plug.
- Start the engine and engage the handbrake or firmly apply the brake pedal. Shift through the gears to check that gear shifting is smooth.
- Shut the engine and stow everything away.
Maintenance
- Before each use, check the condition of this tool set. Repair any damage detected before further use.
- After each use, clean any grime or fluid away using a mild detergent. Do not use caustic chemicals or harsh abrasives.
- Store this tool in its carrying case or package box in a cool dry location away from direct sunlight and inaccessible to children.
