Product Usage Instructions
Assembly
- Refer to your vehicle’s servicing manual to select the appropriate adapter (B, C, D, or E) for your axle size.
- Loosen and remove the outermost nut on the slide hammer.
- Adjust the second nut closer to the slide hammer to accommodate the selected adapter.
- Attach the selected adapter to the slide hammer and secure it with the two nuts.
Removing from the Inner CV Axle
- Park the vehicle, engage the parking brake, and jack up the side needing the CV joint removal.
- Remove lug nuts, nut lock, cotter pin, spring washer, hub nut, any washers, and the wheel hub.
- Hang the wheel hub aside using a hook.
- Apply penetrating oil to the connection point between the inner CV axle and the transmission.
- Hook adapter (B, C, or D) around the inner CV joint housing.
- Ensure the adapter grips the joint housing securely and slide the hammer back and forth until the joint comes off.
Removing from the Outer CV Axle
- Follow steps 1-4 to remove the inner CV axle.
- Attach the outer CV joint adapter (E) to the slide hammer if not already attached.
- Apply penetrating oil to the connection point between the outer CV axle and the transmission.
- Secure the adapter to the outer CV joint using the removed nut lock or hub nut.
- Slide the hammer back and forth until the outer CV axle comes off.
- Detach the adapter from the outer CV axle.
Maintenance
After use, clean any corrosive oil from the tools and store them in their
original box in a safe place away from children and direct sunlight.

- Keep your work site clean and well-lit. Cluttered and dark work areas invite accidents.
- For best results, keep the kit clean and dry. Remove any fluid, oil, or grease before and after work, particularly from the handle and fittings.
- ALWAYS use personal protective equipment (PPE) suitable to your task. Always wear ANSI-approved eye and hand protection while using this product. Nonslip footwear is also highly recommended. Other equipment such as ear, head, and body protection may also be necessary depending on your work and other equipment.
- Dress properly for automotive servicing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry and keep hair, clothing, gloves, hoses, and tools away from any moving parts during use.
- ALWAYS know and understand the specific safety warnings and instructions for your vehicle before using this kit. Use the correct fluids, pressures, adapters, etc. for your vehicle. Make sure the parking brake is activated before beginning any work. Use with jack and jack stands able to fully support the necessary weight. Never touch any heated surface with exposed skin.

- DO NOT use excessive pressure with this product and do not force it or its attachments. Use penetrating oil when the CV axle binds too tight.
- Maintain this product. Check for misalignment, binding, wear, or other damage before use. If any damage is detected, repair or replace the problematic components before further use. In a large shop, mark such tools “DO NOT USE” until they have been repaired. Only replace components with identical parts.

Operation
There are two ways to remove the CV joint axle, either from the inner joint or the outer joint depending on the specific make of your vehicle.
Assembly
- Referring to your vehicle’s servicing manual, choose an adapter (B, C, D, or E) that will suit your axle size.
- Loosen and remove the outermost nut on the slide hammer.
- Turn the other nut a bit closer to the slide hammer so the length of thread created can accommodate the selected adapter.
- Fit the selected adapter on the slide hammer, tightening it with the two nuts.
Removing from the Inner CV Axle
- Park the vehicle and set the parking brake.
- Jack the side whose CV joint needs removing up.
- Remove the lug nuts, nut lock, cotter pin, spring washer, hub nut, any washer on the outer CV joint axle, and then the wheel hub.
- Slide the wheel hub out of the way and hang it using a hook.
- Spray some penetrating oil to where the inner CV axle is connected to the transmission.
- Hook the adapter (B, C or D) around the inner CV joint housing.
- Wiggle the adapter, being sure it snugly grips the joint housing.
- Slide the hammer back and forth along its shank until the inner CV joint comes off.
Removing from the Outer CV Axle
- Park the vehicle and set the parking brake. Jack the side whose CV joint needs removing up.
- Remove the lug nuts, nut lock, cotter pin, spring washer, hub nut, any washer on the outer CV joint axle, and then the wheel hub.
- Slide the wheel hub out of the way and hang it using a hook.
- Attach the outer CV joint adapter (E) to the slide hammer if they are not attached.
- Spray some penetrating oil to where the inner CV axle is connected to the transmission.
- Fix the adapter to the outer CV joint using the removed nut lock or hub nut the way shown.
- Slide the hammer back and forth along its shank until the inner CV axle comes off.
- Detach the adapter from the outer CV axle.
Maintenance
- Periodically check the tool kit for misalignment or binding of moving parts, cracked or broken parts, and any other condition that may affect its safe operation. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the problem corrected before further use.
- Clean with a damp cloth, using a mild detergent or mild solvent. Do not use caustic chemicals.
- If not to be using the kit for an extended period, coat the threads with quality anti-corrosive oil and store in in the original storage box in a place inaccessible to children and away from direct sunlight.
