INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

FIXTURE ASSEMBLY

  1. On the side of the fixture with fixture wires, thread the tube (with fixture wires preinstalled)[A] onto the threaded nipple[B]. Tighten to secure.
NOTE: The tube should be installed with long exposed threads facing up, as shown.

  2. On the side of the fixture without fixture wires, repeat Step 1 (but without fixture wires).

  3. On the side of the fixture with fixture wires, pass fixture wires through the central hub[C] attached to the upper frame[D].

  4. On both sides of the fixture, carefully pass the long exposed threads of the tubes through the central hubs of the upper frame and seat central hubs against the non-threaded portion of the tubes.

  5. On the side of the fixture with fixture wires, pass fixture wires through a large lock washer[E] and pass a large lock washer over threads protruding through a central hub.

  6. Pass fixture wires through hex coupling[F] and screw hex coupling onto threads protruding through the large lock washer until it is tight against the large lock washer inside of the central hub.

  7. On the side of the fixture without fixture wires, repeat Steps 5 and 6 (but without fixture wires).

  8. On the side of the fixture with fixture wires, pass the fixture wires through the hex nut[G] and screw the hex nut onto threads protruding through the hex coupling. The hex nut should be screwed onto threads until it is tight against the top of the hex coupling.

  9. Pass fixture wires through cover plate[H] and pass cover plate over threads protruding through hex nut.

  10. Pass fixture wires through the spacer ring[I] and pass the spacer ring over threads protruding through the cover plate.

  11. Pass fixture wires through a large decorative loop[J] and screw a large decorative loop onto threads protruding through the spacer ring. Tighten a large decorative loop to secure the cover plate and spacer ring in place.

  12. On the side of the fixture without fixture wires, repeat Steps 8-11 (but without fixture wires).

  13. On both sides of the fixture, carefully lower the upper frame onto the lower frame[V]. Align the holes at the end of each arm of the upper frame with the holes in the top corners of the lower frame (Fig. 1). Thread countersunk screws[R] into the aligned holes (2 holes per arm/frame connection) and tighten to secure the upper frame to lower frame (8 countersunk screws total).

  14. From below, screw decorative knobs[W] onto the threads of countersunk screws[R] that are protruding through the lower frame. Tighten to secure.

FIXTURE DIAGRAM

NOTE: Installation of glass panels[AB] and [AA] is OPTIONAL for this fixture.
NOTE: If the top of the fixture is installed less than 2 feet (24”) from the ceiling, the glass panels should be installed BEFORE making wire connections and BEFORE mounting the fixture to the ceiling.

  • If installing fixtures WITHOUT glass panels, follow the WIRING AND MOUNTING steps and disregard the GLASS PANEL INSTALLATION steps.
  • If installing the top of the fixture 2 FEET (24”) OR LESS from the ceiling WITH glass panels, follow the GLASS PANEL INSTALLATION steps before following the WIRING AND MOUNTING steps.
  • If installing the top of a fixture MORE THAN 2 FEET (24”) from the ceiling WITH glass panels, follow the WIRING AND MOUNTING steps before following the GLASS PANEL INSTALLATION steps.

WIRING AND MOUNTING

  1. On both sides of the fixture, attach one end of chains[M] to small loops[K] using locking chain links[L]. Attach the opposite end of chains to large decorative loops[J] using locking chain links.
NOTE: Locking chain links can be opened and closed by threading the nut on and off the link end.

  2. On the side of the fixture with fixture wires, weave fixture wires through chain links (no more than 3 inches apart). Pass wires through a small loop and into the canopy[X].

  3. Cut fixture wires a MINIMUM of 20 inches from the top edge of the canopy.

  4. On both sides of the fixture, remove knobs[Q] and small lock washers[P] from mounting screws[S]. Retain knobs and small lock washers.

  5. Attach the mounting plate[U] to the outlet box[O] using the plate mounting screws[N]. The mounting plate can be adjusted to suit the position of the fixture.

  6. NOTE: In addition to attaching the mounting plate to the outlet box, the mounting plate must be secured to the ceiling at four (4) locations.
Using the mounting plate as a template, mark the positions of the four (4) ceiling mounting locations, two (2) on each side of the mounting plate. Carefully unscrew and remove the plate mounting screws and remove the mounting plate.

  7. For mounting locations that land on a wood ceiling joist, use a 3/32” (2.38 mm) diameter drill bit (not supplied) to drill a pilot hole for a wood screw[Y] into the ceiling.
For mounting locations that land on drywall only, use a 3/16” (4.76 mm) diameter drill bit (not supplied) to drill a hole for a drywall anchor into the ceiling. Carefully tap a drywall anchor[Z] into the hole.

  8. Pass supply wires from the outlet box down through the hole in the centre of the mounting plate and re-attach the mounting plate to the outlet box using the plate mounting screws.

  9. For mounting locations that land on a wood ceiling joist, secure the mounting plate to the joist using a wood screw[Y].
For mounting locations that land on drywall only, Secure the mounting plate to the drywall anchor[Z] using a wood screw[Y].

  10. Attach two (2) inspection cables[T] to the inside of the outlet box, OR loop two (2) inspection cables through the centre of the mounting plate hook them into slots in the mounting plate, and secure them into place to prevent damage to the wires during wiring.

  11. Grounding instructions: (See Illus. a or b).

    • On fixtures where the mounting plate is provided with a hole and two raised dimples, wrap ground wire from the outlet box around the green ground screw, and thread it into the hole.
    • On fixtures where a cupped washer is provided, attach the ground wire from the outlet box under the cupped washer and a green ground screw, and thread into the mounting plate.
If the fixture is provided with ground wire, connect the fixture ground wire to the outlet box ground wire with the wire connector after following the above steps. Never connect ground wire to black or white power supply wires.
  12. Make wire connections. Reference the chart below for correct connections and wire accordingly.
Connect Black or Red Supply Wire to:| Connect White Supply Wire to:
    ---|---
    Black| White
Parallel cord (round & smooth)| Parallel cord (square & ridged)
Clear, Brown, Gold or Black without Tracer| Clear, Brown, Gold or Black with Tracer
Insulated wire (other than green) with copper conductor| Insulated wire (other than green) with silver conductor
Note: When parallel wire (SPT 1 & SPT 2) are used. The neutral wire is square shaped or ridged and the other wire will be round in shape or smooth (See illus.)|

  13. Raise the canopy to the ceiling, carefully passing mounting screws[S] through mounting screw holes in the canopy.
NOTE: Be certain wires do not get pinched between the mounting plate and canopy or canopy and ceiling.

  14. Use small lock washers[P] and knobs[Q] to secure the canopy. Tighten to secure.

  15. Install the recommended bulbs (Not supplied).

GLASS PANEL INSTALLATION (OPTIONAL)

  1. Carefully insert a glass panel[AB] or [AA] (with the shortest edge facing down, as shown) into an appropriate slot in the top edge of the lower frame, and carefully lower the glass panel until seated in the channel at the bottom of the lower frame.
  2. Repeat for remaining glass panels.
