General information

According to the findings of modern occupational medicine, people in caring professions are under a lot of physical strain due to their work. This often leads to back injuries. The use of transfer aids can significantly reduce the strain on the caregiver and the patient. Transfer aids should be used on the condition that the user has learned how to use them. The user must decide independently which aid is appropriate for the patient’s situation and the intended movement sequence.

The Non-Slip-Mat is a rectangular mat made of non-slip, tear-resistant and very resilient thick film. The Non-SlipMat adheres to any dry surface in the care area, especially to textile surfaces.

It is used where surfaces make professional, back-friendly care difficult due to the lack of frictional resistance. People in need of care who still have residual activity in their legs and arms can thus use their resources, e.g. in bed, when moving independently towards the head end and maintain their remaining mobility.

It is used in home care as well as in hospitals and other medical health care facilities.

The product is used only for the purpose and under the conditions specified.

The instructions in this user manual refer to the person in need of care / the patient who is being transferred / moved as well as to the user / the caregiver who is carrying out the transfer / repositioning.

Service life / lifecycle

If the product is used in accordance with the safety instructions, then the expected product service life is five years.
However, the effective service life may vary depending on the frequency and intensity of use and the number of cleaning and disinfection cycles.

Perform regular function checks on the product and be sure to observe the safety information (see item 2).

Safety information

WARNING indicates a potential danger which could lead to personal injury or material damage.

Defective products may no longer be used.
After transfer / change of position, remove the Non-Slip-Mat from under the patient.
In case of limited mobility, be sure to secure the movement sequence of the transfer with familiar help.
The use of non-standard cleaning agents or bleaching agents or other chemical cleaning additives can permanently impair the functional properties of the product.

Function check

Transfer products are also subject to a natural ageing process. Inspect the aids regularly and carefully and absolutely before each use.

Ensure that material, seams, handle loops and buckles are undamaged and in good working order.

Using the product

Indication and further use

The product is suitable for people in need of care with impaired mobility as well as when support is needed by a caregiver during transfer/change of position. The product is used:

Maintaining residual mobility
Stabilisation of the feet when lying down
More own movement possible due to support
Prevents feet from slipping away when standing

This product may be reused.

Before reusing the product, be sure to perform a thorough function check (see item 2.2) as well as cleaning or disinfection of the product. (see item 5)

Contraindication

Under consideration of the safety information (see item 2), the product may not be used if the patient has any of the following conditions:

Individually perceived pain
Fractures in the lower extremities and in the pelvic region
The aim for the measure must be clearly defined, should something move or not!!!

Application risks

Makes movement difficult if not removed→ Risk of falling
Clear aim for use missing/should something move or not? → Risk of falling
Non-Slip-Mat slows down walking and turning→ Risk of falling
Avoid direct skin contact over a longer period of time→ Unwanted perspiration

Possible applications:

Support movement to the head end of the bed→ Place feet on the Non-Slip-Mat
Support when moving sideways or sitting up in bed→ Place Non-Slip-Mat under hands
For temporary anti-slip protection of sliding mats remaining in the bed→ Place Non-Slip-Mat under the sliding mat
Independent or supportive transfer, e.g. bed – wheelchair, by securely holding the hands→ For this purpose, place the Non-Slip-Mat in a suitable position for an optimal pressure point.
Safety against slipping out of bed in sitting position→ Place Non-Slip-Mat under thighs
Slip resistance on the floor when standing up→ Place Non-Slip-Mat in appropriate position on the floor
Passive slip resistance for objects e.g. crockery, seat cushion for wheelchair→ Place Non-Slip-Mat under objects
