Fitted Sheet Manual
General Information
Thank you for choosing a Petermann product.
Please read the user manual carefully before using the product for the first
time!
The current understanding in modern occupational health and safety is that
people in nursing professions experience significant work-related physical
strain. Back injuries are common. There are many situations in which a patient
has to be transferred from a bed, a wheeled stretcher, ambulance stretcher, an
X-Ray table or a wheelchair to a different stretcher or seat. The strain on
the user and the patient / care-dependent can be reduced significantly through
the use of sliding mats.
The use of transfer aids should be conditional upon the user having learned to
use the equipment properly. The user has to decide for themselves what
equipment is suitable to the patient’s situation and the intended sequence of
movements.
The Sliding Mat Wheelchair is part of a product line which is used
specifically to aid in raising patients who have slid forward in the
wheelchair in home care settings, hospitals and other health care facilities.
The product may only be used for the specified purpose and under the specified
conditions. The Sliding Mats Wheelchair are a safe transfer aid, which allows
for a setup transfer which is pleasant and comfortable for the patient as well
as being simple and back-friendly for the users.
The information in this user manual is for the patient who is being
transferred and moved, as well as the user performing the transfer / position
change.

Safety information
WARNING indicates a potential danger which could lead to personal injury
or material damage.
➢ It is the responsibility of the organisation / the user to determine, on the
basis of the circumstances (weight / health condition of the patient) and the
capabilities of the user, whether several users may be required for the
transfer and/or whether additional safety measures are required.
➢ Defective products may no longer be used.
➢ The smooth surfaces significantly reduce resistance due to friction during
repositioning. Check the transfer surfaces carefully to ensure they are fixed
in place securely (e.g. wheelchair, bed).
➢ Make sure that the mattress size is suitable for our product, otherwise the
anti-slip strips lose their non slip effect. => At smaller mattresses, the
anti-slip strips are not on the top side!
➢ Ensure that the transfers are performed by the users in a back-friendly
manner.
➢ In case of direct skin contact, observation of changes in skin appearance is
indicated.
➢ Weight limits must be observed (200 kg).
➢ Transfer products are subject to a natural ageing process. Inspect the
equipment regularly to ensure proper functionality.
➢ The use of non-standard cleaning agents or bleaching agents, alcohols,
fabric softeners or other chemical laundry additives may lead to permanent
deterioration of the sliding properties.

3.6 Application
The Fitted Sheet is an accessory item for the Turn Sheet (item no. PM-1582) or
the Turn Sheet with hidden handles (item no. PM-2098). The sliding surface of
the fitted sheet is finished with extremely low-friction sliding material.
The fact that the sliding surfaces of the top sheet and the turn sheet lie
against one another maximises the reduction of friction forces, producing the
same effects as a sliding mat.

When using the Fitted Sheet in combination with the turn sheet, anti-slip mat
and a 3-piece bed wedge set (item no.: PM-1695), the following parts are used:
➢ Turn Sheet 3 belt loops at the head end and 12 hidden handle loops
➢ Fitted Sheet with sliding surface and anti-slip safety strip
➢ Anti-Slip Mat and support belts to aid with supporting and positioning
➢ Bed Wedges for positioning the patient
3.6.2 Preparation
➢ Fit the Fitted Sheet onto the mattress like a fitted bed sheet with the
sliding surface facing up.
➢ Tighten it on the sides using the pull cords.
➢ Place the Turn Sheet directly onto the Fitted Sheet.
