• The current understanding in modern occupational health and safety is that people in nursing professions experience significant work-related physical strain. Back injuries are common. There are many situations in which a patient has to be transferred from a bed, a wheeled stretcher, ambulance stretcher, an X-Ray table or a wheelchair to a different stretcher or seat. The strain on the user and the patient/caregiver can be reduced significantly through the use of sliding mats.
• The use of transfer aids should be conditional upon the user having learned to use the equipment properly. The user has to decide for themselves what equipment is suitable to the patient’s situation and the intended sequence of movements.
• The Petermann Soft Turning Disc is part of a product line that is used specifically to support turning movements of patients with lower extremity limitations and largely intact trunk stability.
• The product may only be used for the specified purpose and under the specified conditions.
• The information in this user manual is for the patient who is being transferred and moved, as well as the user performing the transfer/position change.

• If the product is used in accordance with the safety instructions, then the expected product service life is five years.
• However, the effective service life may vary depending on the frequency and intensity of use and the number of washing and disinfection cycles.

• It is the responsibility of the organisation / the user to determine, on the basis of the circumstances (weight / health condition of the patient) and the capabilities of the user, whether several users may be required for the transfer and/or whether additional safety measures are required.
• Defective products may no longer be used.
• Weight limits must be observed (200 kg).
• The Soft Turning Disc may not be used while driving in vehicles.
• Transfer products are subject to a natural ageing process. Inspect the equipment regularly to ensure proper functionality.
• In case of direct skin contact, observation of changes in skin appearance is indicated.
• The use of non-standard cleaning agents or bleaching agents, alcohols, fabric softeners or other chemical laundry additives may lead to permanent deterioration of the sliding mat properties.

Using the product

Indication and further use
Due to the wide range of possible applications, the indications cannot be tied to a specific clinical picture, since Sliding Mats are suitable for all applications involving people who require assistance. Thanks to the reduced friction, the capabilities of the patient can be put to use when Sliding Mats are used. The effort required on the part of the user is reduced. The product can be used to support the following diagnoses:

Patients with lower extremity limitations and largely intact trunk stability.
This product may be reused. Before reusing the product, be sure to perform a thorough function check (see item 2.2) as well as cleaning or disinfection of the product. (see item 5)

Contraindications
Contraindications cannot be tied to a specific clinical picture. Observe the safety information under item 2. In the following patient pictures, the use of the products may have to be avoided:

Application risks

• The soft turntable has no restraining function, so if the torso is not stable, there is → Risk of falling
• Do not use while driving in a vehicle, as there is no restraint function. → Risk of falling

The product can be used in home care and other health care facilities.

The Soft Turning Disc allows the patient to change their sitting position independently by aligning the body.

Do not use cleaning agents with bleaching ingredients or chemical laundry additives!

Otherwise, the product properties may deteriorate permanently.

__Wash with similar colors only| * wipe with a cloth soaked in water after disinfection to avoid residues or layer build-up. Please always follow the manufacturer’s manuals for use when wiping disinfection.
