Installation

Hardware Overview

  1. Buttons
    The layout is customizable using 4 to 8 buttons.

  2. Button LEDs
    Indicate Keypad or function status. For details, see the Button LEDs table in this guide.

  3. System LED Indicator

    • LAN: lights green to indicate that the VK108US is connected to LAN.
    • Link: lights green to indicate that the VK108US is connected to the assigned
      Control Box or Control Pad.
  4. Reset Pushbutton
    Press to reset the network settings.

  5. DC Power
    Receives a power adapter (not supplied in the package) through a 2-pin terminal block.

  6. Keypad ID Switch
    Sets the ID of the VK108US.

  7. Control Box / Control Pad ID Switch
    Assigns the VK108US to a Control Box or Control Pad by specifying the Control Box or Control Pad’s ID.

  8. LAN Port

  9. Connects the VK108US to LAN.

  10. Supplies Power over Ethernet using an Ethernet cable.

Installation

Note: ATEN recommends a 1-gang wall box with a depth of at least 5 cm (1.97 inches) to accommodate the connectors and cables.

Step 1 Prepare the installation site
Install the Keypad into a chosen surface with or without a 1-gang wall box.
Refer to the cutout diagram above to prepare the installation site with the specifi ed dimensions to accommodate the device.

Step 2 Install the Keypad

  1. Use the keypad ID switch to set an ID for the unit, and set the control box ID switch to the ID of the control box to which you wish to connect.
  2. Thread the required cables to supply power and network connectivity to the Keypad. Do one of the following:
    • Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Keypad to a PoE switch.
    • Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Keypad to LAN and a power adapter (not supplied in the package) to supply power. For more information about installing a terminal block to the power adapter, refer to the ATEN Control System User Manual.

Note: The Keypad adopts the default IP address (192.168.0.60) if the network switch does not support DHCP. To change the IP address, log in the web interface using the default IP address with the default password (password).
Secure the Keypad to the wall box or the chosen surface.

Install the button caps and the faceplate.

Confi guration
Use ATEN Confi gurator to create and upload a control interface (Viewer) for the Keypad. For detailed information, see ATEN Control System User Manual.

Button LEDs

Keypad LED Activity Keypad/ Function Status

A button LED

| lights orange| The function assigned to the button is currently off.
lights white| The function assigned to the button is currently on.


All button LEDs

| blink orange and white| The Keypad is being upgraded.
blink orange and white| The Keypad is not connected to any controller.
