SAFETY INFORMATION
Please read and understand this manual before attempting to assemble, operate, or install the appliance. If you have any questions regarding this appliance please call thermomate customer service.

WARNING
The appliance is heavy and should be assembled near its desired location. It is recommended that two people move the assembled appliance to prevent injury.

WARNING

  1. Read all instructions before using this appliance.
  2. This appliance is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles when moving this appliance. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 ft. (914 mm) away from the front of this appliance and keep them away from the sides and rear.
  3. Extreme caution is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children, invalids, or pets and whenever the appliance is left operating unattended.
  4. If possible always unplug this appliance when not in use.
  5. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
  6. Any repairs to this appliance should be carried out by a qualified service person.
  7. Under no circumstances should this appliance be modified. Parts having to be removed for servicing must be replaced before operating this appliance again.
  8. Do not use outdoors.
  9. This appliance is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas, and similar indoor locations. Never place this appliance where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
  10. Do not use this appliance in elevated locations, such as on shelves, raised platforms, etc.
  11. Do not run the cord under the carpeting. Do not cover the cord with throw rugs or the like. Arrange the cord away from traffic areas and where it will not be tripped over.
  12. To disconnect this appliance, turn the controls to the OFF position, then remove the plug from the outlet.
  13. Connect to properly grounded outlets only.
  14. This appliance, when installed, must be electrically grounded by local codes, with the current CSA C22.1 Canadian Electrical codes, or for USA installations, follow local codes and the National Electric Code, ANS/NFPA No. 70.
  15. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock, fire accident, or damage to the appliance.
  16. To prevent possible fire accidents, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  17. This appliance has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored. This appliance should not be used as a drying rack for clothing, nor should Christmas stockings or decorations be hung on or near it.
  18. Use this appliance only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by thermometer may cause fire accidents, electric shocks, or injury to persons.
  19. Always plug appliances directly into a wall outlet receptacle. An extension cord or re-locatable power tap, (outlet/power strip), should never be used.
  20. Do not use this appliance with missing, damaged, or broken legs.

CAUTION

Electrical Connection
120 Volts, 60 Hz circuits with a properly grounded outlet are required. Preferably, the appliance will be on a dedicated circuit as other appliances on the same circuit may cause the circuit breaker to trip or the fuse to blow when the appliance is in operation. The appliance comes standard with a 6 ft. (1.8 m) long, three-wire cord, exiting the right side of the appliance.

  • Always plug the appliance into a wall outlet/receptacle. An extension cord or re-locatable power tap, (outlet/power strip), should never be used.
  • An electrical outlet wiring must comply with local building codes and other applicable regulations to reduce the risk of fire accidents, electrical shock, and injury to persons.
  • Do not use this appliance if any part of it has been underwater. Immediately call a qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and replace any part electrical system that has been under water.

Grounding Instructions

Model No. (Item No.) : EFF141 (SF512-14A), EFF201 (SF56C-20A00), EFF203 (SF58Y-20C00) EFB233 (SF413-23A) This appliance is for use on 120 Volts. The cord has a plug as shown in (A) in Figure 1.

An adapter as shown in (C) is available for connecting three-blade grounding- type plugs to two-slot receptacles. The green grounding lug extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box. The adapter should not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle is available.

NOTE : Adapters are NOT for use in Canada.

Polarized Plug

Model No. (Item No.): EFF171 (SF57C-17A00)

This product is equipped with a polarized plug(one blade is wider than the other blade). To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug into the electrical outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.

PREPARATION
Before starting to assemble the appliance, make sure all parts are present. Compare parts with the package contents list and hardware contents above. If any part is missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble the appliance. Contact customer service for replacement parts.

Estimated Assembly Time: 20 minutes.

Tools Required for Assembly: Phillips screwdriver (not included)

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Lay appliance (A) upside down on a padded surface with the underside accessible.
  2. Attach leg (B) to the appliance by inserting the tab on the top of the leg (B) into the corresponding slot on the bottom of the appliance (A).
  3. Insert two screws (AA) into pre-drilled holes and tighten securely.
  4. Repeat with the remaining three legs.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

EFF141 (SF512-14A)
Read All Instructions Before Use Check that the appliance outlet grill is not covered or obstructed in any way, and make sure the power to the appliance is switched on.

NOTE : When the heat function is used for the first time, a slight odor may be present. This is normal and should not occur again unless the appliance is not used for an extended period.

Power
The Power Switch supplies power to all the functions of the appliance. This switch must be in the ON position for any functions to work.

Temperature Knob
Toggle the Temperature, Switch ON. Then use the Temperature Control Knob to adjust the temperature.

EFF171 (SF57C-17AOO)
Read All Instructions Before Use Check that the appliance outlet grill is not covered or obstructed in any way, and make sure the power to the appliance is switched on.

NOTE : When the heat function is used for the first time, a slight odor may be present. This is normal and should not occur again unless the appliance is not used for an extended period.

  • Main Power Switch: The Power Switch supplied power to all the functions of the appliance. This switch must be in the ON position for any functions to work.
  • Flame Effect: Toggle the Power Switch ON, The power indicator light will glow. The flame effect will be visible through the front glass.
  • Temperature Knob: Toggle the Temperature Switch ON, the Temperature A control knob regulates the temperature level of the room. The further the knob is rotated clockwise, the higher the temperature setting will be. Turning the knob counterclockwise will lower the temperature setting. There are 4 gears for the temperature setting (20 “C /68 r’ -25 “C /77 r’ -30 “C/86 r’ -35 “C/95 r’ ). Use this function to help regulate the ambient temperature level.
  • Temperature Limiting Control: This appliance is equipped with a Temperature Limiting control. Should the appliance reach an unsafe temperature, the appliance will automatically turn off.
  • To reset : Unplug the power cord from the outlet. Wait 5 minutes. With the Power switch in the OFF position, plug the power cord back into the outlet.

Power
The Power Switch supplies power to all the functions of the appliance. This switch must be in the ON position for any functions to work.

Heat Set
There are 2 Heat Switches, Low Power and High Power Level adjustable.

Using The Power Button
The Power( ) Button supplies power to all of the functions of the appliance. This switch must be in the ON position for any functions to work.

Using The Flame Button

  • When the Power( ) Button is on, the flame effect will be visible through the front glass.
  • Press the flame control button ( ) to control the brightness of the flame effect from the highest to the lowest setting ( Max-Med-Low-Off).
  • Press and hold the flame button ( ) for 5 seconds, the blue light flashes 4 times. It enters blue light adjustment mode, and there are totally 3 levels of flame adjustment (Max-Med-Low-Off).

Using The Heat Button

  • Press the heater button once and turn the appliance fan ON/OFF.

Using The Blue Flame Button

  • Press the blue flame button to control the brightness of the blue flame from Highest to Lowest (Max-Med-Low-Off-Cycle).

Using Flame Speed Button

  • Press the flame speed button to control the flame speed.

Identifying The Control Panel

  • The control panel is located in the bottom right corner of the appliance.
  • The control panel contains the main power , flames control, and heater control .

Using The Main Power Button

  • Press the power button to turn the appliance on and off.
  • Press the power button once to turn the appliance on. Press again to turn the appliance off.

Using The Flame Control

  • Press the flame button I; to set the flames for different levels of flame height. You can control the flame height as the table below:

  • When the appliance function turns on, the flame level will cycle through the 3 different level settings continuously.

  • If the flame is off when the appliance is turned off by the main power button, the flames will come on in the highest mode when you turn the appliance on.

Using The Heater Control

  • The heater button turns the appliance on or off. There is no speed setting for the appliance blower. If the appliance is on when the appliance is turned off by the main power button, when the power is turned back on, the appliance will come on at the same time. If the appliance is off when the power is off, the appliance will remain off when the power is turned back on.
  • When the flame function turns on, press the heater button =i once to turn the appliance on. Press again to turn the appliance off.
  • When the flame function turns off, the flames will come on in the highest mode when the appliance is turned on heater button 1,

Using Remote Control

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Cleaning

  • Always turn the appliance OFF and unplug the power cord from the outlet before cleaning.
  • Use a vacuum or duster to remove dust and dirt from the appliance and vent areas.
  • To maintain the finish, clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and buff with a dry cloth.
  • Never use abrasive cleansers, liquid sprays, or any cleaner that could scratch the surface.
  • Never drag the appliance across a floor. The added stress from dragging the appliance may cause the legs to break.

Glass Information

  1. Under no circumstances should this appliance be operated with broken glass.
  2. Do not strike or slam the glass.
  3. Do not use abrasive cleaners to clean the glass.
  4. This appliance uses tempered glass. Replacement of the glass supplied by Thermomate should be done by a qualified service person.

TROUBLESHOOTING
