Installation Instructions for Pipe Mounting Fixtures (Swivel) for ETXv3 Enclosed Speaker Systems
IMPORTANT: Swivel mounting fixtures should only be attached to horizontal pipes. ETXv3 enclosures should only be mounted directly above (12 O’clock position) or directly below (6 O’clock position) a horizontal pipe.
WARNING: Do not mount enclosures to a horizontal pipe in any position other than directly above or directly below.
Step 1: Remove Adhesive Backing and Install JL Audio Logo Badge (Sport
Grille Models Only)
Remove the adhesive backing from the JL Audio logo badge and install it on
the speaker grille if you have a Sport GrilleModel.
Step 2: Adjust Speaker Angle (Optional)
If you desire a different speaker angle, follow these steps:
- Remove the speaker mounting screws and washers.
- Adjust the speaker to the desired angle.
- Reinstall the speaker and tighten the screws in a criss-cross pattern.
Step 3: Prepare Aluminum Logo Cap
- For best adhesion, it is recommended to clean the inside of the aluminum cap with acetone (not included) before attaching it to the speaker enclosure.
- Apply a circular bead of silicone adhesive (included) to the inside of the aluminum logo cap, about 1/2-inch (13 mm) from the outer edge.
Step 4: Attach Aluminum Logo Cap
- Align the aluminum logo cap to the desired angle of rotation and press it onto the back of the enclosure.
- Apply masking tape (not included) to hold the cap in place until the silicone cures, which usually takes at least 24 hours.
Step 5: Mounting Fixtures
Follow these steps to mount the fixtures:
- Adjust the angle of the fixture until it is level.
- Mark the location for the speaker cable hole.
- Remove the fixture assembly and drill a 1/2 inch hole on the marked location.
Step 6: Routing Speaker Cable
In applications where the cable can be routed through the pipe, pass it
through one of the openings on the side of the fixture.
In applications where the cable cannot be routed through the pipe, pass it
through one of the openings on the side of the fixture.
Step 7: Connect Speaker Cables
Have a helper support the enclosure during this step.
Use the supplied butt connectors to connect the red (+) and black (-) speaker cable exiting the ETXv3 enclosure to the speaker cable exiting the pipe.
Note : The green and white wires will not be used in this application.

FOR ETXv3 ENCLOSED SPEAKER SYSTEMS
IMPORTANT: Swivel mounting fixtures should only be attached to horizontal pipes. ETXv3 enclosures should only be mounted directly above (12 O’clock position) or directly below (6 O’clock position) a horizontal pipe.
NOTE: The M-SWMCPv3-2.000 fixture and M770-ETXv3-SG-WH Enclosed Speaker System are used in this manual for illustrative purposes only. The fixture installation steps are the same for all ETXv3 Enclosed Speaker Systems and all M-SWMCPv3 Swivel-Mount Fixtures listed on front cover.
WARNING: Do not mount enclosures to a horizontal pipe in any position other than directly above or directly below.
WARNING: Never attach swivel mounting fixtures to vertical or angled pipes.

Be sure the indicated stopping points are on opposite sides of the fixture as shown. The enclosure can rotate up to 205.5 degrees in the clockwise direction, and 128.5 degrees in the counter-clockwise direction.

In applications that require the logo to be inverted, remove the two #8 -32 x 3/8” machine screws and lock washers.

Compress the base and two upper halves of the fixture together while pushing the fork out through the small pin holes on the opposite side. Flip the fork, and reinstall, along with the two #8 – 32 x 3/8” machine screws and lock washers.

Determine the speaker mounting location, and temporarily secure the fixture around the pipe by hand tightening the four 1/4 – 20 x 1-1/4” machine screws and 1/4” lock washers.

Adjust the angle of the fixture until level, mark the location for the speaker cable hole. Remove the fixture assembly, and drill a 1/2” hole on the mark.

For applications where the cable cannot be routed through the pipe, the cable can be passed through one of the openings on the side of the fixture.

Remove the four 1/4 – 20 x 1-1/4” machine screws and 1/4” lock washers to separate the two upper halves of the fixture. Pass the speaker cable exiting the enclosure through the opening on the underside of the fixture.

Apply Loctite® red thread-locking compound (included) to two 5/16” – 18 x 1-1/4” machine screws (included), thread them into the base of the fixture, and push down on the fixture to ensure no gap while fully tightening.

Have a helper support the enclosure during this step. Use the supplied butt connectors to connect the red (+) and black (-) speaker cable exiting the ETXv3 enclosure to the speaker cable exiting the pipe.

The green and white wires will not be used in this application.
Slide the excess speaker cable and the butt connectors into the opening in the pipe as you raise the enclosure to flush the fixture to the pipe. -
Align the two upper halves of the fixture around the pipe. Hand-tighten four 1/4 – 20 x 1-1/4” machine screws with 1/4” lock washers into the fixture. DO NOT TIGHTEN FULLY AT THIS POINT.

Remove one of the 1/4 – 20 x 1-1/4” machine screws and 1/4” lock washers at a time. Apply Loctite® red thread-locking compound (included), reinstall, and fully tighten. Repeat the same process for the other three screws. (Continued on reverse.)

Remove adhesive backing and install the JL Audio logo badge (Sport Grille Models Only).

If a different speaker angle is desired, remove the speaker mounting screws and washers.

Rotate the speaker to the desired angle. Reinstall the speaker and speaker mounting screws and washers. Hand-tighten the screws in a criss-cross pattern.

Rotate the enclosure to the desired angle, install the 5/16 – 18 x 1/2” set screw into the base of the fixture, and fully tighten.

JL AUDIO warrants this product to be free of defects in materials and
workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the original date of purchase.
This warranty is not transferable and applies only to the original purchaser
from an authorized JL AUDIO dealer. Should service be necessary under this
warranty for any reason due to manufacturing defect or malfunction, JL AUDIO
will (at its discretion), repair or replace the defective product with new or
remanufactured product at no charge. Damage caused by the following is not
covered under warranty: accident, misuse, abuse, product modification or
neglect, failure to follow installation instructions, unauthorized repair
attempts, misrepresentations by the seller. This warranty does not cover
incidental or consequential damages and does not cover the cost of removing or
reinstalling the unit(s). Cosmetic damage due to accident or normal wear and
tear is not covered under warranty.
Any applicable implied warranties are limited in duration to the period of the
express warranty as provided herein beginning with the date of the original
purchase at retail, and no warranties, whether express or implied, shall apply
to this product thereafter. Some states do not allow limitations on implied
warranties, therefore these exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty
gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary
from state to state.
