Specifications

  • Compatible with any audio amplifier or stereo receiver
  • Sealed speaker wire pigtail for easy connection
  • Red lead indicates positive signal (+), black lead indicates negative signal (-)
  • Power handling: Refer to the owner’s manual

Product Usage Instructions

  • Step 1: Select your location
    • Avoid placing the speakers in low spots that would make the speakers vulnerable to water accumulation. Refer to Diagram 1 for speaker placement.
  • Step 2: Trenching and Cable Burying
    • Use a trench spade/shovel to dig trenches for burying the direct burial cables. Place the cables in the trenches and bury them. Ensure the cables are properly protected.
  • Step 3: Making the connection
    • Connect the rock speakers to your audio amplifier or stereo receiver using the sealed speaker wire pigtail from the back of the speaker enclosure. The red lead indicates a positive signal (+), and the black lead indicates a negative signal (-). Connecting the leads incorrectly will result in a weaker bass response. Refer to Diagram 2 for connection details.
  • Step 4: Power connection
    • Ensure that the power is off before connecting the speakers. Locate the connection terminals on the back of your receiver or amplifier. Connect the audio out from your receiver or amplifier to the speakers. Please refer to your owner’s manual for specific instructions.
  • Step 5: Speaker cable connection
    • Connect the speaker cable to the speaker cable terminals, matching the proper polarity with your amplifier. Connect + to + (red) and – to – (black). Make sure to connect the right channel to the right speaker and the left channel to the left speaker. Refer to Diagram 5 for reference.

Tools needed for installation

  • Trench Spade/Shovel
  • Wire Cutter
  • Measuring Tape
  • Outdoor Volume Control (Optional)
  • Direct Burial Cables
  • Silicon Cable Connectors (Optional)

Quick installation guide

  • Where is the best place to install the speakers?
  • Where will the speakers sound the best?
  • Try to separate the speakers 15 – 20 feet apart.
  • Place the speakers in the location where they will camouflage the best with your surrounding

Speaker wire
To determine the length and the gauge of the speaker wire, you will need to measure the distance between your receiver/amplifier and the speakers.

  • Measure the distance between the receiver/amplifier and the speakers.
  • Always buy more than you think you will need.
  • Equal wire lengths should always be used to maintain an equal balance in sound volume.
  • Sound quality is lost when using a thin wire gauge over a long distance.
    • 18 AWG minimum – for distances up to ………………………. . 10 ft
    • 16-2AWG – from ……………………………………………. 10 to 50 ft
    • 14-4AWG – from …………………………………………… 50 to 100ft
    • 12-2AWG – from …………………………………………… 50 to 100ft

Step 1: Select your location

  • Designate the general area where the rock speakers would be most ideal. The speakers should face the general listening area and spaced about 15 – 20 feet apart for good stereo sound. (See
  • Diagram 1) Furthermore, the realistic rock shape and finish would blend particularly well in your landscape if it is placed near a rock wall, water fountain, open plantation or swimming pool.

Avoid placing the speakers in low spots that would make the speakers vulnerable to water accumulation.

Step 2: Trenching and Cable Burying
Measure the distance from the designated speaker location to your stereo receiver. Try to minimize your distance without compromising on your overall appeal and safety concerns. Once the route is determined, use your spade or trench to dig the route with width between 8” and -12” once the trench route is completed, lay the cable in the route. If using the PVC pipe, cut the pipe to length, and ensure all electrical connections are watertight with silicone burial connectors. Once the cable layout is done, refill the trench. (See Diagram 2)

Step 3 Making the connection

Rock speakers are easily connected to any audio amplifier or stereo receiver using the sealed speaker wire pigtail from the back of the speaker enclosure. Please note, that the red lead indicates a positive signal (+) and the black indicates a negative signal (-). Connecting the positive and negative leads incorrectly will cause it to be out of phase and will result in a weaker bass response.

Remove 2”- 3” of the outer layer of the speaker wire coming out from the source amplifier. Carefully strip ½” of the insulation covering the speaker conductors within the outer layer. Twist the bare speaker wire leads together and seal with burial connector. Do not use Electrical tape as a means of weatherproofing the wire connection. (See Diagram 3)

Step 5
When connecting any speakers to the amplifier or receiver, always make sure the power is off. Locate the connection terminals on the back of your receiver or amplifier. Always make sure to connect audio out from the back of your receiver or amplifier to the speakers.

Not all receivers/amplifiers can safely operate 2 pairs of speakers at the same time. The amplifier or receiver’s output wattage must be comparable to the speaker’s power handling. Please refer to your owner’s manual for reference.
Connect the speaker cable to the speaker cable terminals, matching the proper polarity with your amplifier, + to + (red) and – to – (black). Make sure to connect the right channel to the right speaker and the left channel to the left speaker. Either channel may be attached to either terminal set, however, be sure that polarity ( + and – ) is correct on each channel or the performance of the speaker will be seriously affected as one channel will cancel out the other.
