Subject: BIC UI Common Controller Update USB 06.00.02
SCOPE: ALL BIC UNITS WITH COMMON CONTROLLER UI
BIC UI Common Controller
This instruction covers BIC MF (Manual Fill ice) and BIC IOB (IceOn-Board with built-in ice maker) units with Common Controllerscreens updating from UI software 06.00.01 to 06.00.02.
CAUTION
Software upgrades pose a risk of damage to equipment. Software upgrades are
NOT covered under warranty.

NOTE: MENU files for ALL countries are already loaded onto USB stick.
Always verify that most current file is on the USB stick.
NOTE: There are two different User Interface (UI) screens that are used on Blend-in-Cup (BIC) units. These instructions are for the Common Controller Screen.

NOTE: For IOB units, if yogurt is not in the current menu flavors, then assign CONFIGURE YOGURT SMALL DISPENSE to slot 0.
Important
New common controller user interfaces are more responsive than previous screen
models. Press gently when making selections. Pressing options on the screen
with a hard, prolonged touch may cause screen to NOT respond.
INSTALLATION DATE
-
Verify INSTALL DATE has been completed.
A. From easyToUCH screen press SETTINGS.
B. From PASSWORD screen press A then GREEN check.
C. Press DATE/TIME.
NOTE: Software version 06.00.02 may display the date in European formatting DD / MM / YYYY (Day/Month/Year).
D. If INSTALL DATE button is NOT present proceed to next section.
E. If INSTALL DATE button is present:
Press INSTALL DATE and enter the installation date
Press BACK arrow to return to easyToUCH screen
Power unit OFF for 30 seconds then power ON
Repeat previous step to verify INSTALL DATE button is NOT present.
VERIFY CURRENT VERSION INFO -
Verify current software versions

From easyToUCH screen press SETTINGS.

From PASSWORD screen press A then GREEN check
-
Press VERSION INFO.
• Most current software is listed below. Place check-mark in the box next to software that needs to be updated.
UI Software version 06.00.02
SRB Software version 0.28.0
LEFT Mixer Software version 0.25.0
RIGHT Mixer Software version 0.25.0
MENU (must be updated when updating to 06.00.02)

— CLEANING 0.29.0
NOTE: CLEANING Software version will automatically update to version 0.29.0 with UI 06.00.02 software update. -
Press BACK arrow to return to easyToUCH screen.
UPDATE UI SOFTWARE
NOTE: If UI software is 06.00.02 then skip this section and continue to next section. -
Verify unit is ON and screen displays easyToUCH screen.
-
Plug in USB stick into USB port located on LEFT side of unit.
-
From easyToUCH screen press SETTINGS.
-
From PASSWORD screen press A then GREEN check.
-
Press UPDATES.
-
Press USB.
-
Press UI.
NOTE: If RED ERROR box appears, verify:
• The specifications for USB stick are correct. See “Tools Required” on page -
• The file structure on the USB is correct.
• USB connection from back of screen is connected to extension correctly.
-
Select UI_06_00_02.tar.gz file from USB stick.
-
When YELLOW WARNING box appears, confirm software selection is correct then press check to continue or the or X to return to previous screen.
-
The countdown timer will begin and “PLEASE WAIT…” will display. This takes less than 30 seconds.
-
When screen displays “APPLYING CHANGES, REMOVE USB”, remove the USB. UI screen will automatically reboot.
NOTE: Reboot may take longer then normal due to software changes being implemented. This takes less than 5 minutes.
-
After screen reboots and returns to easyToUCH screen, verify UI software has updated by going to SETTINGS/ VERSION INFO and review the UI VERSION.
NOTE: If UI software did not successfully update, call Technical Support. -
Press BACK arrow to return to easyToUCH screen.
UPDATE SRB SOFTWARE
NOTE: If SRB software is 0.28.0 then skip this section and continue to next section. -
Verify unit is ON then plug USB stick into USB port located on LEFT side of unit.

From easyToUCH screen press SETTINGS.

From PASSWORD screen press A then GREEN check.
-
Press UPDATES.

Press USB.
-
Press SRB.
-
Select 0_28_0_SRB0.SRB file from USB stick.
-
When YELLOW WARNING box appears, confirm software selection is correct then press check to continue or the or X to return to previous screen.
-
The update progress will display in lower LEFT corner of screen. Do NOT remove USB stick from unit.
-
GREEN COMPLETED box will appear, press check.
-
Do NOT remove USB stick.
-
Press BACK arrow to return to easyToUCH screen.
-
Remove USB.
-
Turn unit OFF for 30 seconds then turn back ON.
UPDATE MIXER SOFTWARE
NOTE: If both LEFT and RIGHT MIXER software are 0.25.0 then skip this section and continue to next section. -
Verify unit is ON then plug USB stick into USB port located on LEFT side of unit..

From easyToUCH screen press SETTINGS.
-
From PASSWORD screen press A then GREEN check.
-
Press UPDATES.
-
Press USB.
-
Press LEFT MIXER.
-
Select 0_25_0_MXB0.MXB file from USB stick.
-
When YELLOW WARNING box appears, confirm software selection is correct then press check to continue or the or X to return to previous screen.
-
The countdown timer will begin. Do NOT remove USB stick from unit.
-
GREEN COMPLETED box will appear, press check.
NOTE: For MIXER updates you do NOT need to restart machine until both MIXERS have been updated.
-
Do NOT remove USB stick.
-
Repeat process for updating RIGHT MIXER.
-
After software has been updated for LEFT and RIGHT MIXERS press BACK arrow to return to easyToUCH screen.
-
Remove USB.
-
Turn unit OFF for 30 seconds then turn back ON.
-
After screen restarts and easyToUCH screen appears, confirm software has updated by going to SETTINGS/ VERSION INFO and review LEFT MIXER VERSION and RIGHT MIXER VERSION.
NOTE: If any software did not successfully update or does not match software listed in Step 5 on page 2, call
Technical Support (phone numbers listed on Page 1). -
Press BACK arrow to return to easyToUCH screen.
MENU SOFTWARE
Unassign Slot Flavors
CAUTION
The slot flavors MUST be unassigned when changing MENU software. -
Configure SLOT FLAVORS.
A. From easyToUCH screen press SETTINGS.
B. Press A then GREEN check.
C. Press CONFIGURE SLOTS.
D. Press SLOT FLAVOR.
E. Press a slot with a flavor to unassign flavor.
NOTE: Take a picture of the current slot flavor assignment to assist with reassigning in later steps.

Follow onscreen instructions to unassign product flavor.
Leave product bags in lower refrigerated cabinet. -
Repeat UNASSIGN process until all flavors have been unassigned.
-
Verify ALL slots display EMPTY. Correct if necessary.
-
Press BACK arrow until return to easyToUCH screen when ALL slots have been unassigned.
Updating Menu Software
NOTE: ALL slot flavors MUST be unassigned before proceeding to updating MENU software. “Unassign Slot Flavors” on page 5. -
Verify unit is ON then plug USB stick into USB port located on LEFT side of unit.

From easyToUCH screen press SETTINGS.
-
From PASSWORD screen press A then GREEN check.
-
Press UPDATES.
-
Press USB.
-
Press MENU.
-
Select correct MENU file for your country from USB stick.
NOTE: See “MENU File Prefixes” on page 1 for correct menu.
-
When YELLOW WARNING box appears, confirm MENU selection then press check or X as needed.
-
“PLEASE WAIT…” will display. This takes less than 30 seconds.
-
Screen will display “APPLYING CHANGES, REMOVE USB”, remove the USB. UI screen will automatically reboot.

SETTINGS -
Update DATE/TIME.
A. From easyToUCH screen press SETTINGS.
B. From PASSWORD screen press A then GREEN check.
C. Press DATE/TIME.
D. Press EDIT DATE/ TIME.
E. TIMEZONE information will display. Press WHITE check.
F. Select correct timezone then press GREEN check.
NOTE: Green check may not appear until a different option is selected. Verify correct option is selected before proceeding.
G. Verify information on screen is correct then press WHITE check.
H. Press WHITE check on confirmation screen.
I. Press check to change the CURRENT DATE AND TIME.
NOTE: Software version 06.00.02 may display the date in European formatting DD / MM / YYYY (Day/Month/Year).
J. Make changes as necessary then press GREEN checkK. Press check on confirmation screen then press check on COMPLETED screen.
L. Press BACK arrow one time to return to SETTINGS screen. -
Update units of measure.
A. From SETTINGS screen press TEMPERATURES.
B. Press slider icon at bottom of screen to °F or °C.
NOTE: °F will change units of measure to IMPERIAL and °C will change units of measure to METRIC.
C. Press BACK arrow until return to easyToUCH screen.
FACTORY RESET
NOTE: Factory reset will clear old calibration values. -
Perform FACTORY RESET.
A. From easyToUCH screen press SERVICE.
B. Press A then GREEN check.
C. Press FACTORY RESET.
D. Press MACHINE DEFAULTS.
E. Press check to proceed.
F. Screen will display progress then screen will display RESET COMPLETE. Press check. This takes less than 2 minutes.
SETTINGS -
From SERVICE screen verify/update CONFIGURE YOGURT SMALL DISPENSE.
A. Scroll down and press CONFIGURE YOGURT SMALL DISPENSE.
NOTE: To scroll use one finger to press and hold in the middle of the screen while moving up and down.
B. Press SLOT NUMBER.
C. Press the wiper button, press correct value thenpress GREEN check.

D. Press BACK arrow once to
return to SERVICE menu.
- Update OPTIONS (formerly BLENDING CONFIGURATIONS) using correct values from table.
A. Press OPTIONS.
B. Press PLUNGE SPEED.
C. Press wiper button to clear the current input, enter correct value then press GREEN check. SETTINGS| BIC IOB| BIC MF

G. Press DISPENSE WAIT TIME.
H. Change DISPENSE WAIT TIME to 30 seconds.
This does NOT affect the actual time to make a drink.
I. Confirm LEFT MIXER, RIGHT MIXER and 8 FLAVOR SLOTS have check mark.
J.
Use finger to scroll down and remove check from ICE CHUTE RINSE. Unless store
specifically needs this option ON it should be deselected.
K. Press BACK arrow once to return to SERVICE menu
L.
From SERVICE screen press SETTINGS.
M.
Press CLEANING OPTIONS.
N. For IOB units confirm ZONE 2 ICE SANITIZING and ZONE 3 DESCALING are
selected with check mark.
O. For MF units confirm BLENDER RINSE is
selected with check mark.
P. Press BACK arrow until return to easyTouch screen.
ZONE 2 CLEANING
Important
Failure to complete the weekly cleaning sequence entirely or progressing too
quickly through weekly sequence will prevent weekly cleaning timer from
resetting and the process will need to be repeated correctly before drinks can
be made.
-
Perform Zone 2 Cleaning if cleaning timer has expired.
Press CLEANING and follow onscreen instructions. Do NOT rush through the cleaning; read and follow the onscreen instructions carefully.
NOTE: Zone 2 expires after 7 days. The store can reset the timer by cleaning on the day & time the manager wants the expiration to occur. -
Press BACK arrow to return to easyToUCH screen if necessary.
DISPENSE ICE -
Verify ice bin is at least half full of ice. Correct if necessary.
NOTE: For BIC Manual Fill units fill ice bin with ice. NEVER use bagged ice. For BIC Ice-On-Board units verify ice is in the bin. -
Dispense a large cup of ice.
A. Place a large empty cup in dispense area.
B. Press PRESS & Go.
C. Press ICE & WATER.
D. Press ICE ONLY.
E. PRESS LARGE.
F. Repeat process if necessary until a steady flow of ice is dispensed.
CONFIGURE SLOT FLAVORS -
Configure SLOT FLAVORS.
A. From easyToUCH screen press SETTINGS.
B. Press A then GREEN check.
C. Press CONFIGURE SLOTS.
D. Press SLOT FLAVOR.
E. If slots are not EMPTY, unassign all slots before proceeding to next steps. See “Unassign Slot Flavors” on page 5.
F. Press an EMPTY slot to assign flavor.
G. Press flavor.
NOTE: Refer to picture you took with your phone or check the cabinet for what flavor belongs to each slot.
H. Repeat assigning slot flavors.
I. Press BACK arrow once.
UPDATE INVENTORY
NOTE: This step will load product bags as FULL BAG. Store will need to visually monitor each product bag until first full bag has been loaded into onscreen inventory and into refrigerated cabinet. -
Load product bags if necessary and update inventory. e is in the bin.
NOTE: Verify cabinet temperature is 39 °F (3.9 °C) or below.
Temperature is displayed in UPPER LEFT corner of screen.
Do NOT physically load product bags into lower refrigerated cabinet if cabinet temperature is above 39 °F (3.9 °C) .
NOTE: Slots 2, 7 & 8 assignments may not be applicable to every market.
A. Press INVENTORY.
B. Press slot with flavor assigned.
-
Follow onscreen instructions for loading product bag and priming.
NOTE: Prime slot until steady stream of product flows and all air is removed from line.
-
Repeat loading product bag process until all flavors have been loaded.
C. Press BACK arrow to return to CONFIGURE SLOTS screen when complete.
CALIBRATE WATER, ICE & FLAVORS -
Calibrate water first, ice second and flavors last.
A. Press CALIBRATE FLAVOR.
B. Press WATER to calibrate.
C. Follow onscreen instructions for calibrating WATER.
D. Press ICE to calibrate and follow onscreen instructions.
E. Press each flavor to calibrate and follow onscreen instructions.
NOTE: Flavors and flavor fill levels may display “ghosted” or semi- transparent until flavor has been calibrated. Press the “ghosted” or semi- transparent flavor to start the calibration process.
NOTE: Product bag must be physically loaded and inventory must be updated in the INVENTORY screen to calibrate. -
Press BACK arrow until return to easyToUCH screen.
CONFIRM OPERATION -
From easyToUCH screen press PRESS & GO to access drink making menu.
-
Make several drinks with manager present to confirm operation.
-
Notify manager:
To change time of cleaning lockout timer(s), perform cleaning(s) at desired time of day to reset lockout timer.
Product bags may become empty before machine alerts of low/empty bag. Staff needs to visually monitor product bag inventory until first bag change. Once a new, full product bag is loaded staff no longer needs to visually
monitor product bag(s).
