Cleaning and Care
- Interface MUST be installed inside the steam room for proper operation of the system. Use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean the interface. Do NOT use abrasive cleaners which might scratch the interface.
- The 8CN-600S, 8CH-600S and 8CB-600S interfaces will only function with 8GE-TSG steam generator models.
Pre-Installation – Interface Location
The 8CH-600S, 8CB-600S and 8CN-600S Series Digital Interfaces must be installed inside the steam room and away from the steam head (opposite wall preferred). For convenience the recommended height from the floor is four feet. Provide a 2 3/4” hole in the wall at this location (see Figure 1 ). Important: The steam generator required to complete installation ships with a 35’ cable. When connecting an 8CH-600S, 8CB-600S or 8CN-600S Series Digital Interface, the 8GA-000 power booster will be required for any installation where the cable or combination of cables exceed 35 feet (to a maximum of 70 feet). The power booster and alternative length cables are available for purchase separately.
Electrical Rough-in
Locate the multi-conductor cable (supplied with steam generator). Carefully
route this interface cable from the steam generator to the 8CN-600S, 8CH-600S
or 8CB-600S Series Digital Interface located inside the steam room (see Figure
1). Route this interface cable through a 3/4” conduit to protect the cable
from damage and to facilitate replacement if necessary.
Interface and Cable Installation
-
Locate the previously installed interface cable and black plastic strain relief clamp. Locate the knockout on the steam generator for the interface cable (see Figure 2).
-
Place strain relief clamp around cable approximately seven inches from the end and insert into the hole.
-
Remove the protective cap from the multi-conductor cable plug. Connect the cable to the modular jack.
-
Close and secure the steam generator cover.
-
Locate the modular jack at the female coupler, on the back of the 8CH-600S, 8CB-600S or 8CN-600S Series Digital Interface. Remove protective cap from cable and plug into jack. Confirm that the orientation of the plug properly aligns with the jack. A snap will indicate the plug is installed correctly (see Figure 3).
WARNING
Test the interface for operation before continuing on to the next step. -
Peel adhesive liner from the back of the interface. Apply silicone (supplied) around the back edge of the interface to form a watertight seal (see Figure 3).
-
Apply the interface to the wall. Press firmly and hold for a few seconds. Wipe any excess silicone from around the interface.
- IMPORTANT: The 8CN-600S, 8CH-600S and 8CB-600S interfaces have built in temperature sensors and therefore MUST be installed inside the steam room.
- IMPORTANT: The adhesive on the back of the 8CH-600S, 8CB-600S & 8CN-600S Series Digital Interfaces will NOT seal this interface. It is the responsibility of the installer to seal this interface to the wall with the supplied silicone. Water damage to the interface based on improper installation is not covered by the warranty.
- IMPORTANT: 8CH-600S, 8CB-600S & 8CN-600S Series Digital Interface cables MUST plug directly into the steam generator. Do NOT plug this interface into any of the optional spa options. Steam temperature settings: 60ºF minimum to 125ºF maximum Maximum Time setting: 60 Minutes

-
IMPORTANT: To use the bilateral steam head, make sure the steam room wall studs are exposed to allow for proper installation. If the walls are fully finished and studs are not accessible, please use a different type steam head.
-
NOTE: For maximum comfort the bilateral steam head should always be located as far from the seating area as possible. The bilateral steam head location should be 12” to 18” above the shower floor or 6” above the rim of the bathtub, as far from the seating area as possible. Do NOT install the steam head directly below the user control. For optimum performance, install the steam head on the wall opposite or adjacent and as far as possible from the user control.
-
Rough in the steam line using a minimum of a ¾” copper or brasspipe. Do NOT use black iron or galvanized pipe as it will rust and discolor the wall of the steam room. Do NOT use CPVC or any plastic type pipe, fitting or water type line as the steam pipe.
-
Place the bilateral steam head between wall studs (See Figure 2). Make sure that the front lip is placed in such way that it will be flush with the final wall material such as tile or stone (See Figure 4). If you are uncertain of the tile/stone thickness at the time of install, the front lip of the steam head may be slightly recessed back into the wall but must NOT be placed behind backer board and cannot protrude past front of tile (See Figure 3).
-
Make sure the bilateral steam head is level, left to right and front to back (See Figure 2).
-
Secure the bilateral steam head to wall studs using 8 screws or nails.
-
Connect the ¾” copper or brass pipe to the bilateral steam head.
-
Remove the front face cover by sliding it out of the bilateral steam head.
-
Proceed with steam room construction by insulating the walls and installing backer board onto the wall. Make sure to leave a proper size cutout in the backer board for the bilateral steam head. Do NOT leave a large gap between the backer board and the bilateral steam head.
-
Apply supplied sealant between the backer board and the outer edge of the bilateral steam head (See Figure 3).
-
Complete the wall construction with thin set and tile/stone. Make sure to leave a proper size cutout in the tile/stone for the bilateral steam head.
-
Do NOT leave a large gap between the tile/stone and the bilateral steam head.
-
Apply supplied sealant between the tile/stone and the outer edge of the bilateral steam head (See Figure 3).
-
NOTE: Make sure there are absolutely no air gaps between the outer edges of the bilateral steam head and the final wall material. If air gaps are left, steam will leak between wall construction and cause water damage to foundation.
-
Insert front face cover back into the bilateral steam head. Push it in until it makes contact with the wall.
-
Apply dabs of supplied sealant between the left and right edges of the front face cover and the wall tile/stone to make sure the cover does not slide out (See Figure 4).
-
NOTE: A single bead of sealant can fill gaps up to 1/4”. If the gap is slightly larger than this, fill it in two steps. First place a bead of sealant deeper into the gap, but not flush with surface. Wait until the sealant is completely cured before coming back to run a second bead on top of the first bead
(See Figure 3).- Cure time of the supplied sealant: 1/4” gap = 5 days, 1/2” gap = 10 days.
