  • This appliance is not intended for use by children. Keep the appliance out of the reach of children and pets. Extra caution is necessary when using this appliance near children.
  • Always ensure the appliance is unplugged from the electrical outlet and allowed to cool before assembling, disassembling, relocating or cleaning it.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is in use. Always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet when not in use.
  • Do not immerse or expose the Base, Power Cord, or Plug of this appliance in water or other liquids.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs when handling product. Use protective oven mitts or gloves when removing the Lid or handling hot containers to avoid burns or personal injury.
  • This appliance generates heat and steam during use. Please take the proper precautions to avoid burns, fire, and personal or property damage.
  • Do not use attachments not recommended or sold by the Manufacturer. Attachments, when furnished, may become hot during use. Allow any attachments to cool before handling them.
  • Do not place appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, in a heated oven, or other heated surfaces.
  • Use extreme caution when moving an appliance containing food or liquids.
  • Use the appliance in a well-ventilated area. Keep at least 4-6 inches of space on all sides of the product to allow adequate air circulation.
  • Use appliance on a table or sturdy flat surface.
  • Keep the appliance away from curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dishtowels, or other flammable materials.
  • Do not plug or unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet with wet hands.
  • This appliance is intended solely for non-commercial, non-industrial, household use in cooking of food for human consumption; do not use the appliance outdoors or for any other purpose.
  • Do not operate the appliance empty.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter where it may be tripped over or pulled. Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not operate the appliance if it has a damaged power cord or plug, if wires are exposed, if it malfunctions, if it is dropped or damaged, or if the motor housing is dropped in or exposed to water.
  • This appliance has no user-serviceable parts.
  • Do not attempt to examine or repair this appliance yourself. Only qualified service personnel should perform any servicing. Take the appliance to an appliance repair shop of your choice for inspection and repair.
  • Do not overload wall outlet, extension cords, or integral convenience holders, as this can result in a fire or electric shock.
  • Do not put any stress on the power cord where it connects to the appliance, as the power cord could fray and break.
  • To Disconnect, turn dial to “Min” position and remove the plug from the wall outlet.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord is not recommended for use with this appliance, but if one must be used:

  • The marked electrical rating must be at least as great as that of the appliance.
  • If the appliance is of a 3-prong grounding type, the extension cord must be a  grounding-type 3-wire cord.
  • Arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be tripped over or pulled.

WARNING: This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other blade) to reduce the risk of electrical shock. This is a safety feature. The plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If you are unable to insert the plug into the electrical outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use the plug with an extension cord unless you can fully insert the plug into the extension cord. Do not alter the plug. Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

PRODUCT PARTS

Before First Use

IMPORTANT: Please check all packaging material carefully before discarding as there may be accessory parts contained within the packaging material.

WARNING: Do not place any part of the product in a dishwasher.

  1. Make the batter/dough for your flatbread.
  2. Plug the appliance into a standard 120-volt AC electrical outlet, and then turn the Temperature Control Dial to your desired Heating level to Preheat.
  3. Preheat the appliance with the Top Cooking plate in the up position so that the appliance is open.
  4. The Power Indicator will light up to indicate it is in use. Once the light turns off and the Green Ready light turns on (usually about 6-8 minutes the appliance is ready for use.

Attention: First use may cause a slight odor or small smoking upon heating, it is normal. This is a result of the heating element chemical reaction. It quickly goes away.

Using Your Tortilla/Flatbread:

WARNING: Handle and Parts may become hot during Preheat/Cooking process, please use an oven-mitt for protection.

  1. You can lightly coat your Tortilla/Flatbread maker with some vegetable oil using a pastry brush.

  2. Form your Tortilla/ Flatbread dough into 2 inch balls. Pat them using your fingers to lightly flatten the dough ball into a patty. Place the dough patty on the Bottom Cooking plate slightly rear of the center.

  3. Use the top handles to close the Top Cooking Lid. Move the Pressing Handle towards the Temperature Control Dial and gently press down to flatten the dough.
    Note: If you over flatten the dough it can break apart.

  4. Open the Top Cooking Lid and rotate the flat dough on the Bottom Cooking Plate to the center for even heat distribution. Once bubbles begin to form on the uncooked side you may flip your Tortilla/Flatbread to cook the other side.
    Warning: Do not use Metal utensils to flip Tortillas/ Flatbreads as they may damage the Non-Stick coating. Only Wooden or heat resistant Plastic utensils may be used.

  5. The Tortilla/Flatbread will puff up. This is normal as there is trapped steam within the flatbread. Gently close the Top Lid on the Tortilla/Flatbread to ensure the rise is even and remove from heat.

  6. Your Tortilla/Flatbread is now ready to Eat!

  7. Turn the Temperature Control Dial to OFF and unplug the appliance from the electric outlet.
    WARNING: Always unplug the product from the electrical outlet when it is not in use or will be left unattended.

  8. Allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning or storing.

Cleaning Your Tortilla/Flatbread Maker:

WARNING: Always unplug the product and allow it to cool completely before cleaning or storing it.

NOTICE: Never immerse any part of this appliance.

  • Make sure the appliance has cooled. Use a soft damp cloth to wipe the Top and Bottom cooking plates.
  • Using a soft dry cloth, dry the plates and store.

Recipes and Tips:

  • Dough may dry out quickly so it is important to keep it covered with a moist towel. Keeping your dough extra moist yet firm will result in lighter and smoother flat bread. You may also add small amounts of water to the dough to keep it moist before cooking.

  • Give the mixed dough at least 30 minutes of resting time before shaping it into balls. Keep dough covered while it rests.

  • To keep cooked flatbread moist and warm, wrap in a slightly damp cotton towel. You can also use a tortilla holder.
    Any remaining Flatbread or Tortillas can be stored in your refrigerator. Stack the tortillas/flatbread with a small piece of wax paper dividing layers. Seal the stack in a plastic bag and store. Tortillas/Flatbread can be reheated using your appliance by allowing them to come to room temperature first and cooking on the Bottom Cooking plate only.

  • You can also place Tortillas/ Flatbread in your microwave for 30 seconds and serve!

RECIPIES

  • Flatbreads are a great accompaniment to Dishes like Curry’s, Soups, Masalas.
  • Adding sauces, meats and veggies makes great Wraps and Rolls.
  • Fill your homemade Tortillas with your favorite shredded cheese and steamed veggies for an easy Quesadilla.
  • Flatbreads can be made into quick Pizzas just add a bit of sauce and cheese.
Flatbread You’ll Need: Instructions :

Chapati / Roti:

| 2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour Salt (to taste)

1 Cup Water (as needed)

1-2 tablespoons Sesame or Vegetable oil (to brush

dough)

| In a large bowl combine the Flour, Salt and Oil. Gradually add the water and mix thoroughly. Knead dough into a smooth soft ball. Let it sit covered for about 10-15 minutes. Divide the

dough in small balls. Cook as indicated in “Using

the Tortilla/Flatbread Maker”.

Corn Tortillas / Whole Wheat Tortillas

| 2 Cups Masa Harina

½ Teaspoon Salt

1 Cup Warm Water

1 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour

1 1/2 Cups Unbleached (or all-purpose) Flour

1 Teaspoon Salt

1/3 Cup Vegetable Oil

1 cup warm water

In a large bowl combine Flour and salt (Oil if it calls for it). While mixing gradually add water. If the dough is too stiff add a little more water. Divide the dough into small balls, cover with plastic wrap and let them rest 30 minutes before cooking. Cook as Indicated in “Using the Tortilla/Flatbread Maker”.

Flour Tortillas

| 2 All-Purpose Flour 1/2 Teaspoon Salt 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil 2/3 Cup Warm Water| In a large bowl combine the Flour, Salt and Oil. Gradually add the water and mix thoroughly. Divide the dough into about 12 equal parts and form in small balls. Cover with Plastic Wrap. Cook

as Indicated “Using the Tortilla/Flatbread Maker”.

Mandarin Pancake

|

2 Cups All-Purpose Flour 3/4 Cup Boiling Water

1-2 tablespoons Sesame or Vegetable oil (to brush dough)

| Place Flour in processor, add water slowly through tube until dough forms a ball. Cover dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes. Form small balls from the dough (should render 24 servings). Brush one side of each round. Flatten 2 balls at a time. Cook as Indicated “Using the Tortilla/Flatbread Maker”. Pull the two

halves of pancakes apart after cooking.
