HOW TO USE

ATTENTION: During first use, you may notice slight smoking or a slight odor; this is normal with most new appliances. The smoking and odor are caused by the residues burning off the Nonstick Cooking Surface and the Heating Element. Allow the appliance to preheat until smoke and odor no longer exists.

  1. Before using your Tortilla Bowl Maker for the first time, open the unit by lifting upwards on the handles. The top section will rest on a vertical position. The hinge is designed to be loose. This allows the Tortilla Bowl Maker to rise and for steam escape.
  2. Clean the cooking surface thoroughly by wiping with a sponge or cloth dampened with hot water. When cleaning, do not immerse the Unit and do not run the water directly onto cooking surfaces. Dry surface with a cloth or paper towel.
  3. Find a dry, suitable, level surface near an electrical outlet.
  4. The Nonstick Cooking Surface should be lightly coated with a small amount of vegetable oil. Vegetable oil can be applied with a paper towel or with a nonstick oil spray. The oil will help protect the nonstick quality of the cooking surface.
  • This should be done periodically to maintain the nonstick quality. 5. Plug the cord into electrical outlet.
NOTE: This appliance does not have an On or Off switch. To turn OFF unplug from wall outlet.

    1. Close Lid while preheating, the Red Power indicator light will go on, always preheat the Tortilla Bowl Maker for 3-5 minutes before using.
FIRST USE: Let the nonstick cooking surface burn off any residue before placing any tortillas on the lower cooking surface.

    2. When the power is on, the Red Power Light will come on. The Green Ready Light will stay off while the appliance is preheating.

    3. When the unit has reached the proper temperature, the green indicator light will illuminate. Use this time to get your tortillas ready.

    4. The Green Ready Light will turn on when the appliance is ready to cook.
Tip – before placing your tortilla on the lower non-stick cooking surface, you may apply butter on both sides of the tortilla for a crispier and richer flavor bowl.

    5. Raise the Lid using an oven mitt or potholder to prevent accidental burns.

    6.  Fill the lower non-stick cooking surface with a ten-inch (or smaller) tortilla.

    7. Close the Lid using a potholder or oven mitt.
Steam may be released from the appliance during cooking. For your safety, avoid contact with steam, as it is extremely hot and can cause burns.

    8. The cooking time will range between 1-3 minutes, depending on the type of tortilla being used and personal taste.

    9. Once the tortilla has cooked to your liking, carefully raise the Lid with a potholder or oven mitt. Remove the tortilla from the Nonstick Cooking Surface with a plastic or wooden spoon (not included). DO NOT use metal utensils, as they may scratch and damage the Nonstick Cooking Surface.

    10. If cooking more than one tortilla, after removal of the first, lower the Lid to maintain heat until ready to cook the next tortilla.

    11. As soon as you are finished cooking, always unplug appliance, and allow to cool.
