Using Your Hot Pot
Attention: During the first use the heating element undergoes a minor
chemical
reaction that may result in a slight odor and/or minor smoking. It quickly
goes away.
CAUTION: Do not overfill the appliance or operate it when empty.
NOTE: When there is no water in the Hot Pot or if the water runs out
during use, the boil-dry protection automatically switches off the heating
element. Should this happen, turn the power switch off, unplug the unit, and
allow it to cool before continuing to use or storing.
NOTE: When the max temperature is reached, the indicator light will turn
off and heating will stop. Light will go back on to maintain temperature.
-
Place the Hot Pot on a sturdy flat and heat-resistant dry surface.
-
Plug the Hot Pot into the nearest Electric Outlet.
-
Turn on the temperature control switch to the desired setting.
CAUTION: Do not overfill the appliance above the ‘MAX’ line. -
Add your ingredients to the Hot Pot and gently stir using only plastic or wood utensils during cooking, as metal can scratch and damage the stainless steel.
-
Once cooking is completed, turn the Temperature Control Switch to ‘Off’, and unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet.
-
Let stand and cool before cleaning (15 minutes).
Common Usage:
Boiling Water
- Remove the glass lid, and add water lower than the ‘MAX’ level. Then cover it with a glass lid. Insert the plug into an electrical outlet. Turn the temperature control dial to the desired heat setting, the indicator light will go on and the hot pot will start heating.
- Approximately 15 minutes later, the water will begin to boil, turn the temperature control dial to ‘Off’, Hot Pot will stop heating and the indicator light will go off. When no longer in use, always remember to unplug your appliance from the electrical outlet.
Noodles
- Remove the glass lid, and add water lower than the ‘MAX’ level. Then cover it with a glass lid. Insert the plug into an electrical outlet. Turn the temperature control dial to the desired temperature ‘Boil’, the indicator light will go on and Hot Pot will start heating.
- Approximately 15 minutes later, the water will begin to boil, remove the glass lid place noodles into the Hot Pot, and cover.
- When water returns to a boil add some seasoning and mix. Turn the temperature control dial to ‘Warm’, for slow cooking. Cook the noodles according to personal taste, if done, turn the temperature control dial to ‘Off’, the hot pot will stop heating and the indicator light will go off. When no longer in use, always remember to unplug your appliance from the electrical outlet.
Steamboat / Hot Pot
- Remove the glass lid, and add water or broth lower than the ‘MAX’ level. Then cover it with a glass lid. Insert the plug into an electrical outlet. Turn the temperature control dial to the desired temperature ‘Boil’, the indicator light will go on and Hot Pot will start heating.
- Approximately 15 minutes later, the water will begin to boil, remove the glass lid and add in soup ingredients. Cook according to personal taste.
- If you want to reduce the temperature, turn the dial to ‘Warm’, as the temperature will take a longer time to return to a boil. When you are done and no longer need to heat your food, turn the control dial to ‘Off’ this will turn ‘OFF’ the appliance completely. When no longer in use, always remember to unplug your appliance from the electrical outlet.
Steamed Eggs
-
Remove the glass lid, and add about an inch of water. Then place the Steam Rack into the Hot Pot and place your eggs on the rack. When steaming eggs, the eggs are not in contact with the water at all.
NOTE: For steamed eggs, set your timer for 6 minutes for soft-boiled, 10 minutes for hard-boiled with a translucent and bright yolk, or 12-15 minutes for cooked through hard-boiled. These times are approximations. If you double up the eggs in the pan and they are not in a single layer, you may need to add a couple of minutes or so to the cooking time for hard-boiled. -
Then cover it with a glass lid. Insert the plug into an electrical outlet. Turn the temperature to boil and set a timer. The indicator light will go on and the hot pot will start heating.
-
Approximately 15 minutes later, the water will begin to boil.
-
Turn the control dial to ‘OFF’. When no longer in use, always remember to unplug your appliance from the electrical outlet.
Using your Steamer Bowl
-
Remove the glass lid, and add about an inch of water. Then place the Steam Rack into the Hot Pot.
-
Then cover it with a glass lid. Insert the plug into an electrical outlet. Turn the temperature to boil. The indicator light will go on and the hot pot will start heating.
-
Approximately 15 minutes later, the water will begin to boil.
-
Once boiling, place your vegetables into the Steam Bowl (included) and into the Hot Pot on the Steam Rack. Make sure the water level is just below the Steam Rack and lower than the Steam Bowl.
NOTE: Beware of hot steam when removing the glass lid. Keep your face away from the direction of the steam. -
Cover the pot with the glass lid. Cook with the lid on, for just tender vegetables: Broccoli 3-5 minutes; Green Beans 4-5 minutes; Carrots 4-5 minutes (depending on the thickness of the cut); Cauliflower 10-12 minutes. 6. Turn the control dial to ‘OFF’. When no longer in use, always remember to unplug your appliance from the electrical outlet.
NOTE: Test a piece with a fork and taste it to assess whether it is done. The cook time will be different every time based on the thickness of how you have chopped them, and the maturity of the vegetable.
Tip – When steaming vegetables, rule number one is bringing the water to
a boil first!
Cleaning Your Hot Pot:
Warning: Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning
or storing.
Notice: Never immerse the unit, plug, or cord in water or any other
liquid.
- Wash the Hot Pot by hand using non-abrasive cleaners and pads with warm water.
- To prolong the life of your hot pot we recommend not submerging the appliance. Use a water recipient to pour water in and carefully discard.
- Do not use steel wool pads as they can damage the surface. You can use stainless steel cleaning agents.
- The Tempered Glass Lid can be washed under running water with mild dish soap.
- Rinse all parts thoroughly and dry. Reassemble and store in a cool, dry place. Away from the reach of children.
- Cord Storage
Descaling:
Descaling is the removal of mineral deposits from stainless steel. All water
contains minerals including purified and filtered water. After your hot pots
first use, you may see the first signs of deposits which may be white to
reddish brown in color. These stains are not rust nor are they toxic.
To descale your Hot Pot, fill it full of water, add a small amount of white
vinegar, and boil. Unplug the Hot Pot and allow the solution to sit for an
hour. For darker stains leave overnight. This will remove most deposits that
have built up from normal use. Rinse out a solution, add fresh water, and boil
again. Allow to cool, follow with a thorough cleaning, and dry before next
use.
