CONNEX COXT938724 Respiratory Mask
IMPORTANT
Single-use respirators are classified according to one of three categories- FFP1 FFP2, FFP3. Before reading the following information, check the category to which the respirator belongs-this is indicated on the packaging and on the respirator. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the respirator provides the necessary level of protection for the type and concentration of the contaminant(s) in the area where the respirator is intended for use.
Intended use
The particle-filtering half mask is a self-contained respiratory protective device that is made in whole or part of filter materials. Particle-filtering half masks are exclusively used for respiratory protection against volatile solid or liquid particles (dust, smoke, aerosols, aerosol vapours). Not reusable: for single use only.
Device category| **Protects against following multiple of pollutant
levels of the OELs*| Effects*
---|---|---
Particle-filtering half mask FFP1| 4| Protects against particles with a max.
size of 0.6 µm of non-toxic and non-fibrogenic pollutants.
Particle-filtering half mask FFP2| 10| Protects against particles with a max.
size of 0.6 µm and captures at least 95% of harmful dusts, vapours and smoke;
filters solid and liquid particles.
Particle-filtering half mask FFP3| 30| Protects against particles with a max.
size of 0.6 µm and captures at least 99% of toxic substances and protects
against droplet aerosols, carcinogenic substances, radioactive substances,
enzymes, microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, fungi and their spores).
) The occupational exposure limit values (OELs) include those specified in the German Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances (TRGS 900); – MAK and TRK (MAK = maximum workplace concentration; TRK = technical guidance concentration).
Directions for use
-
Fit the respirator and check leak-tightness before entering the contaminated area.
Wear the respirator for the whole duration of exposure to contaminants. -
Use the respirator in accordance with applicable health and safety regulations.
-
Discard the respirator and replace with a new one if the respirator is removed while in a contaminated area
-
excessive clogging of the respirator causes breathing difficulty and/or discomfort
-
the respirator becomes damaged (for respirators protecting against vapours, if the smell of vapours present becomes detectable.)
-
Leave the contaminated area if dizziness, irritation or other distress occurs.
-
Only for single use, no maintenance necessary. Do not store and/or re-use after single use.
-
Discard the respirator after single use (one shift, maximum).
-
Keep unused respirators in their closed box and store in a dry non-contaminated area between +5 and +55° C.

Fitting instructions
- Cup the respirator in the hand, allowing the head-bands to hang freely.
- Hold the respirator under chin with the nose-piece facing outwards.
- Place the lower head-band around the neck below the ears. Holding the respirator against the face with one hand, place the top head-band above the ears, around the crown of the head.
- Respirators with adjustable head-bands only: while maintaining the position of the respirator, adjust tension by pulling tab of each head-band, (Tension may be decreased by pushing out on the back of the buckle).
- Mould the nose area to the shape of the face, running the fingertips of both hands from the top of the nose-piece down both sides while pressing inward.
Check for leak-tightness (facial fit)
-
Place both hands over the respirator and exhale sharply positive pressure should be inside the respirator.
If you feel air escaping around the edges, re-adjust the respirator by tightening the nose-piece and/or increasing tension of the head- bands. Repeat the procedure until satisfactory face-fit has been achieved. -
Before using the mask, check its corpus, the ribbons and the valves whether they are damaged in any way.
If so, do not use the mask. -
Check the use by date on the box of the mask, in order to find out whether the respirator can still be used.
IMPORTANT:
In the case of respirators with non-adjustable head-bands-if you feel that the
head-bands are too loose, you can increase tension by tying a small k not in
the head-band.
Limitations to use
Do not use these respirators or enter or stay in an area where:
- Oxygen concentration is less than 17% (UK-19%)
- Contaminants or their concentrations are unknown or immediately dangerous to life or health
- Particulate concentrations exceed levels fixed by applicable health and safety regulations or protection factor x NPF-whichever is lower. Nominal protection factors: 4.5 for FFP1, 12.5 for FFP2 and, 50 for FFP3
- Gases and/or vapours are present – except for respirators designated as protecting against vapours, in which case vapour concentrations should not exceed NPF.
- Respirators protecting against organic vapours should not be used as protection against acid vapours and vice-versa.
WARNING:
- Do not use for fire-fighting. These respirators do not supply oxygen.
- Do not use in oxygen-deficient atmospheres-e.g. tanks or other poorntly-ventilated areas (see ‘Limitations to use’).
- Do not use in explosive atmospheres.
- For use only by trained and qualified personnel. Requirements for leak-tightness are unlikely to be achieved if the respirator is worn against a beard or facial stubble.
- Masks markedwith „NR“ must only be used for a single work shift.
Meaning of the symbols on the packaging
- The hour glass pictogram refers to the product’s service life which is indicated by the date code: year yyyy, month mm or year only yyyy.
- Book pictogram„I“: Please observe the manufacturer’s user instructions.
- Thermometer pictogram: Lowest and highest storage temperature
- Umbrella pictogram: Maximum relative humidity under the recommended storage conditions
Follow the directions for use provided in the manufacturer‘s instructions.|
Do not store at a relative humidity exceeding 75 %
