USAGE
Connex article COXT938813 P2 R has been designed for use with Connex article
COXT938811. By using the COXT938813 attachment, the A1 COXT938811 gas filter
can be upgraded into an A1P2 combination filter.
The filter does not itself produce breathable air, but cleans the existing air
by passing this air through the filter. Always complete the following checks
before use:
- Identify the substance type(s) that could be present in the working environment.
- Determine the maximum concentration of the poisonous substance(s) that could be present in the working environment.
- Verify that the level of oxygen is adequate in the workplace.
- Determine the maximum admissible concentration (MAC).
- Specify how long the filters are to be used by personnel.
FILTER TYPES
GAS FILTER
Filters for gases include one of the following types:
Type | Colour | Application |
---|---|---|
A | Brown | Organic vapours, solvents with a boiling point > 65 °C |
B | Grey | Inorganic gases and vapours |
E | Yellow | Sulphur dioxide and other inorganic gases and vapours |
K | Green | Ammonia gas and derivatives |
Depending on their performance, the filters for gases of type A, B, E and K are classified as follows:
- Category 1: Low-performance filters
- Category 2: Medium-performance filters
- Category 3: High-performance filters
PARTICULATE FILTERS
Particulate filters are assigned to one of three categories, depending on their filtration performance: P1, P2 or P3.
Colour | |
---|---|
P1 | Moderate protection |
P2 | Medium protection |
P3 | High protection |
USAGE
First, ensure that the filter you have selected is suitable for protecting you against the substances present in the contaminated area. Only use filters from the sealed original packaging. To attach the filter, place the filter grooves on the protrusions on the filter bracket and then turn the filter 90 degrees to the right. For correct usage, the respirator must be placed against the face by pulling the headband over the top of the head and the lower band behind the head (see fig. 1). To check that the half mask is being worn correctly, breathe in with the filter screwed on and while holding the ventilation channel closed. The respirator must collapse in on itself and press tightly against the user’s face.
REPLACING THE PARTICULATE FILTER
To replace the particulate filter, first pull off the bracket. Remove the old
filter and place a new filter into the bracket. Dispose of the old particulate
filter. Press the bracket onto the gas filter until it locks into place.
DURABILITY
The expiry date is valid while the filters have not been removed from the
original packaging. If the filter is not in its original packaging or has not
been stored under the stated conditions, its expiry date will differ from the
original use-by date.
Since the filters wear out progressively, filter expiry can be recognised by
identifying any signs of wear: this will be a taste, odour or burning
sensation, etc. when using chemical filters or an increased resistance to
breathing in when using mechanical filters. The expiry date is valid only if
dealers and users have both observed the correct storage conditions.
CLEANING
Clean the bracket with a dry cloth.
STORAGE
Store the filters in a clean, dry place, well away from moisture, and
protected from direct sunlight and from any potential sources of soiling.
Ambient conditions should be as follows:
- Temperature: 5 ºC to 40 ºC
- Humidity: Between 20% and 80% relative humidity.
For transportation, place the filters in a sturdy bag or pouch.
SAFETY SYMBOLS
On the packaging, you will find a coloured, self-adhesive label with the
following information:
- Produced for: Conmetall Meister GmbH
- Model: COXT938813
- Standard: EN 143:2000 + A1:2006
- Certification and Notified Body: CE 0082
- Use-by date: See filter or packaging
PRECAUTIONS
Do not alter or modify the filters, since this voids all certification and
could also lower the level of protection afforded to users.
Take appropriate precautionary measures if you are using the equipment in an
explosive or oxygen-enriched atmosphere.
Use of the filters is restricted by the toxicity level of the air. The maximum
concentration at which the filters can still be used is determined by the
maximal admissible concentration (MAC). We recommend only allowing one person
to use each respirator, so as to avoid any potential risk of infection.
Users who have a beard or who wear glasses that are not compatible with the
equipment, or have facial irregularities, are unlikely to be able to achieve a
leak-tight fit with this mask. The equipment must not be used in areas where
the oxygen concentration is under 19.5%.
