READ ALL DIRECTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING PROJECT
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove all rust, oil and grease from surfaces to be coated. Surface must be
clean and dry. Mask off area to avoid overspray on auto finish. Apply to bare
or primed metal surface.
WARNING: If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead
dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS
BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID
EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up
carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to
protect yourself and your family by contacting the National Lead Information
Hotline at 1 800-424-LEAD or log on to
www.eps.gov/lead.
APPLICATION
Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when
temperature is above 50°F (10°C) and humidity is below 65% to ensure proper
drying. Avoid spraying in very windy, dusty conditions. Cover nearby objects
to protect from overspray.
Shake can vigorously for one minute after mixing ball begins to rattle. If the
mixing ball fails to rattle DO NOT STRIKE. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often
during use. Hold can upright 12-18” from surface and spray in a steady back-
and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same
distance from the surface and in motion while spraying. Remove any overspray
from the auto finish immediately. For the best results, apply two coats (allow
product to dry for 1-2 minutes between coats).
DRY AND RECOAT TIMES
Air dry for a minimum of one hour at 70°F (21°C) – 50% relative humidity.
Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Surface can be recoated within 1 hour
or after 24 hours. Allow 72 hours for full cure before placing items in the
truck bed.
CLEANUP
When finished spraying, wipe off tip before storing. Clean up wet or dry
coating with Xylol. Mineral spirits can also be used to remove wet paint.
