WARNING:

  • Use this appliance only for its intended purpose as described in this guide.
  • This icemaker must be properly installed by the installation instructions before it is used.
  • This unit must be positioned so that the plug is accessible. Do not run the cord over carpeting or other heat insulators. Do not cover the cord. Keep the cord away from traffic areas and do not submerge in water. No other appliance should be plugged into the same outlet and be sure that the plug is fully inserted into the receptacle.
  • The use of an extension cord is not recommended as it may overheat and cause a risk of fire.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Kogan.com or its service agent to avoid a hazard.
  • Disconnect the mains plug from the supply socket when not in use for a long term, where the supply connection is via the mains plug.
  • Remove the power plug or disconnect from the mains before cleaning or maintaining the appliance.
  • Never unplug your unit by pulling on the power cord. Always grasp the plug firmly and pull it straight out from the outlet.
  • Do not use this unit outdoors. Keep the unit away from direct sunlight and make sure that there is at least 15 cm of space between each side of the unit and surrounding walls. Keep all ventilation openings on and in the appliance clear of obstruction.
  • Do not tip over the unit, as this will cause abnormal noise and ice-cube production. This may also cause serious water leakage from the unit.
  • If the unit is brought in from outside during winter, allow a few hours for it to warm up to room temperature before plugging it in.
  • Do not use any liquid other than water to make ice cubes other than water.
  • Do not clean the ice maker with flammable fluids, as the fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
  • Never keep anything in the ice storage bin that is not ice; objects like wine and beer bottles are not only unsanitary, but labels may also slip off and obstruct the drainpipe.

WARNING:

  • This appliance must be earthed and used with a 220-240V/50Hz earthed power supply.
  • Keep all ventilation openings in and on the appliance clear of obstruction.
  • Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Do not store explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in this appliance.

B. LED Light button
Turn the internal LED light on or off.

Note:
Pressing and holding the LED Light button for 5 seconds or more will change the ambient temperature unit between Fahrenheit and Centigrade.

C.Timer/Clean button
Press this button once to enter the Timer setting program. Press and hold for 5 seconds or more to enter the Self-Cleaning program.

D.ON/OFF button
When the unit is off, press this button to turn on the unit. During the automatic cleaning program or normal ice-making cycle, press this button to turn the unit off. If the unit is set with the Timer, press this button to cancel the Timer setting.
When the unit is making ice cubes, press and hold this button for 5 seconds or more and the unit will forcibly switch to the ice harvesting process.

E.“+”/“-” buttons

  • Press to adjust the ice-making process duration period; the default setting is zero, increase or decrease the duration in one-minute increments for each pressing of the “+” or “-” button accordingly.
  • Press to adjust the delay time of the timer in Timer setting mode; the default setting is zero, increase or decrease the duration in one-hour increments for each pressing of the “+” or “-” button accordingly.

INSTALLATION

  • This unit is not for outdoor use. Keep to the proper room temperature and inlet water temperature according under “Specifications” below, or the ice making performance will be affected.

  • This unit should not be located near heat sources such as ovens or radiators.

  • The unit should be located on a firm and level foundation at normal countertop height.

  • There must be at least 15cm clearance at the rear side for connection and 20cm clearance in front to open the door and provide good air circulation.

  • Do not put anything on the top of the ice maker.

  • To ensure proper ventilation for the appliance, the front of the unit must be completely unobstructed (at least 20cm free space). Allow at least 15cm clearance at the rear and 5cm at the top and sides for proper air circulation. The installation should allow the ice maker to be pulled forward for servicing if necessary.

  • When installing the ice maker under a counter, follow the recommended spacing dimensions shown above. Place electrical and drain fixtures in the recommended locations as shown.

  • Choose a well-ventilated area with temperatures above 10°C and below 32°C. This unit must be installed in an area protected from the elements, such as wind, rain, and water sprays or drips.

  • The ice maker requires a continuous main water supply with a pressure 1-8 Bar as required under “Specifications” below. The temperature of the water feeding into the ice maker should be between 5°C and 25°C for proper operation.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Unpacking the appliance

  1. Remove the exterior and interior packaging. Check if all the accessories, including the user guide, ice scoop, water supply pipe, ¼” to ½” quick connector and the water draining pipe, etc., are included. If any parts are missing, contact Kogan.com.
  2. Remove all tape keeping accessories and components in place, and wipe over the inner cabinet and ice scoop with a wet cloth.
  3. Put the ice maker on a level and flat surface, away from direct sunlight and other sources of heat (i.e., stove, furnace, and radiator). Make sure that there is at least 20cm gap between the air outlet and any obstacles, and at least 5cm between the sides and any surrounding walls.
  4. Allow 4 hours for the refrigerant fluid to settle before plugging the ice maker in if the unit may have been inverted during shipping or transportation.
  5. The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is easily accessible.

WARNING: Connect to a potable water supply only. Only use drinking water.

Cleaning before first use
Before using your ice maker, it is strongly recommended to clean it thoroughly.

  1. Open the ice compartment door.

  2. Clean with diluted detergent, warm water, and a soft cloth.

  3. Repeatedly clean the water-contacting inner parts using a wet cloth to scrub the relevant parts, then use a dry cloth to dry them.

  4. Pull out the drainpipe of the water tank (part H under “Overview” above) to drain out the cleaned water in the water tank, then drain out all of the cleaned water from the water drain port (part 8 under “Overview” above) located at the rear of the unit. The water drainpipe and drain port cap must be replaced before use.
    It is suggested to discard the ice cube made during the first ice-making cycle after cleaning.

  5. The outside of the ice maker should be cleaned regularly with a mild detergent solution and warm water.

  6. Dry the interior and exterior with a clean soft cloth.

Electrical requirement and connection

WARNING: THIS UNIT MUST BE EARTHED.

  • Plug into a grounded wall outlet.
  • Never remove the ground prong.
  • Use a separate power supply or receptacle.
  • Never use an adapter.
  • Never use an extension cord.
  • Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.

Before the ice maker is moved to its usage location, it is important to ensure the proper electrical connection is available.
It is recommended that a separate circuit is utilized, serving only the ice maker. Use receptacles that cannot be turned off by a switch or pull chain. If the supply cord or plug are to be replaced, it should be done by a qualified service engineer. This appliance requires a standard 220-240V, 50Hz electrical outlet with good grounding means.

Recommended grounding method

  • For safety, this appliance must be properly grounded. This appliance is equipped with a power supply cord with a grounding plug. To minimise possible shock hazard, the cord must be plugged into a mating grounding-type wall receptacle, grounded by the National Electrical Code and local codes and ordinances. If a mating wall receptacle is not available, it is the personal responsibility of the user to have a proper grounding wall receptacle installed by a qualified electrician.

OPERATION

Water connection
Important: Be sure to use the new hose-sets supplied with the appliance to connect to water mains. Old hose-sets should not be reused.

  1. Connect the water drainage pipe
    Pull out the black water drainage cap (indicated as “A” in the diagram below), then connect the included white drainage pipe. Connect the other end of the drainage pipe to the main water drainage pipeline. Make sure not to set the drainage pipe too high.

  2. Connect the water supply hose to the unit

    • Step 1: Remove the clipper on the main water supply inlet port (indicated as “B” in the diagram below) located at the rear of the unit. Push the anti-dust plug inwards to pop it out, then pull it out to remove.
    • Step 2: Insert the one end of the white water supply hose into the water inlet port and push inward completely. Reinstall the clipper to lock the water supply hose in place.

Connect the water hose to the water supply
Install the supplied quick-connector (from ¼” to ½” with a black sealing ring) to the water tap by screw thread. Remove the clipper from the quick-connector and insert the free end of the water hose into the quick-connector port completely. Reinstall the clipper to lock the water supply hose into place.

Important: The water pressure of the main water supply system must be 0.04-05 MPa at least, and 0.6 MPa at most. If the pressure is too high, a pressure-decreasing valve should be installed.

The ice-making process

  1. After connecting the main water-supplying hose with the unit, plug in the main power supply plug. Press the “On/Off” button on the control panel to begin the ice-making cycle. The power symbol will remain lit.
    The left number in the LCD window will display the present ambient temperature, the right number will display the present ice-making setting and the ice cube symbol will rotate. When the left number begins flashing, the number signifies the countdown time to complete one ice-making cycle.

  2. Each ice-making cycle will last about 11 to 20 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature and the water temperature. During the first use, according to the initial water temperature, the ice-making time may be slightly extended.

  3. When the ice-making process is over, the machine will switch to the ice-harvest process. During the ice-harvest process, the ice cube symbol changes from rotating to flashing, and the arrow on the manual filling water symbol will start to flash. Water will flow into the water tank again until the floating ball of the water level switch rises to the highest position, at which point the water will stop flowing and the manual filling water symbol will disappear.
    When the ice harvest finishes, the ice-full detecting plate will rotate downward once, then return to the original position to begin the next ice- making process.
    If the ice-full detecting plate is jammed and cannot return to the original position, the ice storage bin is full of ice cubes and the ice-making process will stop automatically.

  4. When the “Ice-full” symbol is illuminated, the unit stops running. If the ice compartment is emptied, the unit will start to make ice cubes again after the compressor has run for another 3 minutes.

  5. During the ice-making process, press the “+” or “-” button to adjust the ice-making process duration period length and the thickness of the ice accordingly. Press the “+” or “-” button and the right digit will flash; the default setting is zero, 1 minute will be added to or decreased from the ice-making process for each pressing of the “+” or “-” button. After 5 seconds, the new setting will be remembered by the system.

Note: Low water quality will lead to a reduced transparency of the ice cubes.

Automatic self-cleaning program

  • After connecting the water pipes, plug in the main power supply plug, then press and hold the “Timer/Clean” button on the control panel for more than 5 seconds to enter the Self-Cleaning program. The self-cleaning symbol will always be on during this period and the left digit will indicate the remaining time. The total duration is 20 minutes for one self-cleaning cycle. When the program is over, the system will enter standby mode automatically.
  • To force-cancel the cleaning program, press the “On/Off” button on the control panel during a cleaning cycle.

Timer setting operation

  • Delay time range: 1-24 hours, Default time: 1 hour

Setting the On-Timer:

  • When the unit is in standby mode, press the “Timer/Clean” button to enable the timer. The on-timer symbol will illuminate, and the number “1” above the symbol will flash to display the set delay time. While this number flashes, press the “+” or “-” button to change the delay time of the timer in 1-hour intervals for each press. After 5 seconds, the new setting will be remembered by the system.
  • To cancel the timer, press the “Timer/Clean” button; the number above the on-timer symbol will flash to display the present delay time. Press this button once again to cancel the Timer setting, and the timer symbol and the number will disappear.
  • To force-cancel the timer, press the “On/Off” button on the control panel while the timer is enabled.

Setting the Off-Timer:

  • When the unit is working, press the “Timer/Clean” button to set the timer. The off-timer symbol will illuminate, and the number “1” above the symbol will flash to display the set delay time. While this number flashes, press the “+” or “-” button to change the delay time of the timer in 1-hour intervals for each press. After 5 seconds, the new setting will be remembered by the system.
  • To cancel the timer, press the “Timer/Clean” button; the number above the on-timer symbol will flash to display the present delay time. Press this button once again to cancel the Timer setting, and the timer symbol and the number will disappear.
  • To force-cancel the timer, press the “On/Off” button on the control panel while the timer is enabled.

Internal LED light operation
When the unit is plugged in, press the “Light” button on the operation panel once to turn on the LED light inside the ice bin, and the light symbol on the LCD display window will illuminate.
Press this button once again, the LED light and the light symbol will both turn off.

Note:
Press and hold the “Light” button for more than 5 seconds to change the ambient temperature display between degrees Centigrade and degrees Fahrenheit (°C and °F).

Error codes

  • If the unit malfunctions, an error code will display in the left side of LCD display window.
  • E1 means the ambient temperature sensor has malfunctioned.
  • E2 means that the ice-making program is abnormal, including excessively large ice cubes, no ice falling off or ice not being produced, etc.

Note:
During the ice cube making process, press the “On/Off” button for more than 5 seconds and the unit will jump into the ice-harvest process. After the ice harvest process is completed, the unit will return to the ice-making process.

Water drainage
Make sure the water drainage pipe is correctly connected at the unit back before use.

  • Water can be drained from the ice storage bin through the white drainage pipe connected on the back-drainage port. Make sure not to set the white drainage pipe too high.
  • For the water in the water tank, pull out the silicone pipe on the right side of the water tank (part H under “Overview” above) to allow the water to flow out to the ice bin. The water can then be drained out through the water drain port at the rear of the unit.

Clean the water tank frequently to improve the ice-cube quality and extend the lifespan of the unit and its water circulation pump.

Operational sounds

The ice maker may product unfamiliar sounds, most of which are normal. Hard surfaces like the floor, walls and cabinets can make the sounds seem louder than they are. The following describes the kinds of sounds that may be produced what may be making them.

  • A swooshing sound will be heard when the control valve opens to let water flow into the water tank for each ice-making cycle.
  • Rattling noises may come from the flow of the refrigerant or the waterline. Items stored on top of the ice maker can also make noises.
  • The high-efficiency compressor may make a pulsating or high-pitched sound.
  • Water running from the water tank to the evaporator plate may make a splashing sound.
  • Water running from the evaporator to the water tank may make a splashing sound.
  • As each cycle ends, a gurgling sound may be heard due to the refrigerant flowing in the ice maker.
  • The sound of air being forced over the condenser by the condenser fan may be audible. During the harvest cycle, ice cubes falling into the ice storage bin may be heard.
  • When the ice maker, you may hear water running continuously. The ice maker is programmed to run a rinse cycle before it begins to make ice.

CLEANING & CARE
Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operations, unplug the ice maker from the main power supply electricity. (EXCEPTION: Ice maker self- cleaning program).
Ask a trained service person to check and clean the condenser at least once a year to allow the unit to work properly.

Periodic cleaning and proper maintenance will ensure efficiency, top performance, hygiene, and long life. The maintenance intervals listed are based on normal conditions. You may want to shorten the intervals if you have pets the unit is used outdoors or there are other special considerations.

  • WARNING: If the ice maker has been left unused for a long time, before the next use it must be thoroughly cleaned. Follow carefully any instructions provided for cleaning or use of sanitizing solution.
  • Do not leave any solution inside the ice maker after cleaning.

Exterior Cleaning
The door and cabinet may be cleaned with a mild detergent and warm water solution (for example, 28g of dishwashing liquid mixed with 7.5L of warm water).
Use a soft sponge and rinse with clean water.
Wipe with a soft, clean towel to prevent water spots.
The side steel plate can discolor when exposed to chlorine gas and should be cleaned with a mild detergent warm water solution and a damp cloth. Never use abrasive cleaning agents.

Note:
Do not use alcohol or solvents for cleaning or sanitization of the ice maker, as this may cause cracks in the plastic parts.

Interior cleaning
The ice storage bin should be sanitized occasionally. Clean the bin before the ice maker is used for the first time and after being unused for an extended period. It is usually convenient to sanitize the bin after the ice-making system has been cleaned and the storage bin is empty.

WARNING: DO NOT use solvent cleaning agents or abrasives on the interior. These cleaners may transmit taste to the ice cubes or damage or discolor the interior.

  1. Disconnect power to the unit.
  2. Open the door, and with a clean cloth, wipe down the interior with a sanitizing solution made of 28g of household bleach or chlorine and 7.5L of hot water (35°C to 46°C).
  3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. The wastewater will be drained out through the drainpipe.
  4. Reconnect power to the unit.

The ice scoop should be washed regularly. Wash it just like any other food utensil.

Ice-making parts cleaning
During use, periodically clean these main systems of your ice maker.

  1. Repeat the above steps to clean the water tank and other inner parts of the unit.
  2. Pay special attention to the water dividing pipe on the evaporator. If there is no water flowing out from the water dividing pipe or the water flow is very weak, remove this water dividing pipe to clean carefully. Clean each small hole on the water dividing pipe as displayed in the following illustration, ensuring each hole is unobstructed, then reinstall to its original location.
  • The length of the cleaning period will depend on the quality of the water used. The more frequently the water tank is drained, the longer unit and its water pump can operate for.
  • When there are ice cubes on the surface of the evaporator that will not fall off easily, do not use a mechanical apparatus to remove it by force. Press and hold the “On/Off” button for more than 5 seconds, and the unit will enter the ice melting process. After some time, the larger ice cubes will fall; turn off the unit and unplug the power cord to clean the surface of the evaporator.

Water tank and ice-full detecting plate

Cleaning the water tank and the ice-full detecting plate is very important to keep ice cubes hygienic.

  1. Put a mixture of neutral cleaner and water into a clean water jet and spray all inner surfaces of the tank and the ice-detecting plate.
  2. Wipe these surfaces as much as possible with a clean cloth, then spray the surfaces with clean water, wiping with a dry clean cloth.
  3. Drain out the cleaned water in the water tank by pulling out the water drainpipe of the water tank (part H under “Overview” above). When all the cleaned water has been drained out, reinstall the water drainpipe of the water tank.
  4. After cleaning and reinstalling the interior parts and operating the machine again, it is recommended to discard the first batch of ice.

Ice making assembly system

WARNING: Wear rubber gloves and safety goggles (and/or face shield) when handling ice machine cleaner or sanitiser.

Minerals that are removed from water during the freezing cycle will eventually form a hard, scaly deposit in the water system. Cleaning the system regularly helps remove the mineral scale build-up. How often the system requires cleaning depends upon how hard the water used is. With hard water of 4 to 5 grains/litre, the system may need to be cleaned as often as every 6 months.

  1. Turn off the ice maker. Keep the ice maker connected to the water supply and drainpipe but shut off the water tap of the main water supply.

  2. Open the door and scoop out all the ice cubes. Either discard them or save them in an ice chest or cooler.

  3. Making the cleaning solution by mixing a nickel-safe ice machine cleaning product with water.
    In plastic or stainless container with more than 4 litres capacity, mix 300 ml ice machine cleaner with 2.8 litres warm water (~50-60°C). Divide equally into 2 cups.

  4. Check to be sure that the water drainpipe of the water tank has been installed properly in the slot of the tank wall, then pour one cup of the cleaning solution into the water tank. Wait about for 5 minutes.

  5. Turn on the power to the ice maker, then press and hold the “Timer/Clean” button on the control panel for more than 5 seconds to enter the self-cleaning program. The water pump runs for 8 minutes and stops for 3 minutes, then runs another cycle. The total duration time is 20 minutes for one self-cleaning program. During this process, the self-cleaning symbol will be illuminated, and the display window will indicate the remaining time.

  6. After 20 minutes of one self-cleaning program completing, pull out the drainpipe of the water tank and drain the cleaning solution down to the lower ice storage bin. Shake the unit slightly to drain out all the cleaning solutions completely. Reinstall the drainpipe to the slot of the water tank.

  7. Repeat steps 4-6 to clean the ice making assembly system again.
    WARNING:

    • Ice machine cleaning products contains acids.
    • Do not use or mix with any other solvent-based cleaner products.
    • Use rubber gloves to protect hands. Carefully read the material safety instructions on the container of the ice machine cleaner.
  8. Open the tap of the main water supply and allow the water to flow in the unit. Press and hold the “Timer/Clean” button on the control panel for more than 5 seconds to enter the self-leaning program.

  9. As above, the water pump runs for 8 minutes and stops for 3 minutes, then runs another cycle. The total duration time is 20 minutes for one self-cleaning program. During this process, the self-cleaning symbol will be illuminated, and the display window will indicate the remaining time. Through this process, it will rinse the water dividing pipe, evaporator, water pump, silicone pipe and water tank, etc.

  10. After the self-cleaning program is complete, pull out the drainpipe of the water tank, drain the cleaning solution down to the lower ice storage bin and shake the unit slightly to drain out all the water completely. Reinstall the drainpipe to the water tank slot tightly.

  11. Repeat steps 8-9 another two times.

  12. Following the above directions to clean the ice storage bin.

  13. Once this process has been completed, the machine can return to regular ice making. It is suggested to discard the first batch of ice cubes made after cleaning.

General cleaning

Daily cleaning
The ice shovel, door and the water dividing pipe should be cleaned each day. At the end of every day, rinse the ice shovel and wipe both sides of the door with a clean cloth.

Semi-monthly cleaning
The ice shovel, ice bin, water tank, the ice-full detecting plate and the surface of the evaporator should be cleaned semi-monthly according to interior cleaning program.

Semi-annual cleaning
All the components and surfaces exposed to water or ice cubes, such as the ice storage bin, water tank, door, evaporator, water pump, silicone tube, water dividing pipe, etc. should be cleaned using a nickel-safe ice machine cleaning product every 6 months. They should be cleaned by the serviceman according to ice making assembly system cleaning program.

Preparing for long-term storage
If the ice maker will not be used for a long time or is to be moved to another place, it will be necessary to drain out all the water in the system.

  1. Allow all the ice cubes have been ejected from the evaporator of the ice maker.
  2. Turn off the unit and unplug the power cord.
  3. Drain out all the water inside the unit as outlined under “Water drainage” above. When all the water has been drained out, reinstall the water drainpipe of the water tank.
  4. Disconnect the water drainage pipe to the main drain pipeline or floor drain and reattach the drain cap.
  5. Leave the ice compartment door open to allow for air circulation and prevent mould and mildew from forming.
  6. Leave the power cord disconnected until the unit is ready to be used.
  7. Dry the interior and wipe the outside of the unit.
  8. Put a plastic bag on the unit to protect from dust and dirt.
