Potensic RID 916 Remote ID Module - Instructions

Pull out the dustproof rubber plug and connect to a USB charger (5V/0.5A or above) or power bank via the Type-C cable to charge. (This product does not include a USB charger. Please use chargers that comply with FCC/CE standards to charge.)
When charging with the device off, LED1 will be solid yellow and LED2-LED4 will flash white sequentially. After being fully charged, all the LEDs will turn off.
When charging with the device on, LED1 will display the color of the device status, while LED2-LED4 will flash white sequentially. After being fully charged, all the LEDs will stay solid on.

Power on/off

  1. Long press the power button for 2s until all the LEDs are on/off and release to power on/off the device.
  2. When the device is powered on, LED1 will display the current status of the device while LED2-LED4 will indicate the battery level as follows:

When LED1 flashes red slowly, it indicates that the device has extreme low battery level and needs to be charged as soon as possible.
When LED1 is solid red, it indicates that the device is malfunctioning. Please contact the after-sales service for support.

How to Use

  1. Install RID-916 that has been successfully written with the required information on the drone.
    Installation Precautions:
    • Place the module level with the logo side facing the sky.
    • When installing, do not block the drone’s GPS antenna and keep a safe distance from the propellers.
    • If the drone is a small quadcopter, try to install the module at the center of gravity of the drone (the focus of the cross-connection of the four motors).

  2. Long press the power button for 2s until all the LEDs are on and release to power on RID-916.

  3. After being powered on, the device will automatically start satellite search with LED1 flashing green slowly.
    When LED1 stays green, it indicates that RID-916 has finished satellite search and starts to broadcast.

  4. Short press the power button and RID-916 will refresh the takeoff point with LED1 flashing cyan slowly. When LED1 stays green, it indicates that the takeoff point has been refreshed successfully and it’s ready to fly.
    It’s required to use RID-916 outdoors with the logo side facing the sky. RID-916 broadcasts: drone ID, drone location and altitude, drone velocity, time mark, takeoff location and elevation.
