Installation Instructions – Galleon Wall Companion BB/GAW Back Box

IMPORTANT: Read carefully before installing product. Retain for future reference. Failure to comply with these instructions may result in death, serious bodily injury and property damage.

WARNING

Risk of Fire, Electrical Shock, Cuts or other Casualty Hazards- Installation and maintenance of this product must be performed by a qualified electrician. This product must be installed in accordance with the applicable installation code by a person familiar with the construction and operation of the product and hazards involved.
Risk of Fire and Electric Shock- Make certain power is OFF before starting installation or attempting any maintenance. Disconnect power at fuse or circuit breaker.
Risk of Fire- Refer to product label for specific minimum supply conductor requirements. Risk of Burn- Disconnect power and allow fixture to cool before handling or servicing.
Risk of Personal Injury- Fixture may become damaged and/or unstable if not installed properly.

NOTICE: Green ground screw provided in proper location. Do not relocate.
ATTENTION Receiving Department: Note actual product description of any shortage or noticeable damage on delivery receipt. File claim for common carrier (LTL) directly with carrier. Claims for concealed damage must be filed within 15 days of delivery. All damaged material, complete with original packing must be retained.
Safety: This product must be wired in accordance with the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes and ordinances. Proper grounding is required to insure personal safety. Carefully observe grounding procedure under installation section.
APPLICATIONS: This Back Box is designed for use with the Axcent (AXC) light fixture or the Galleon Wall Companion (GWC or GAW) fixtures. It must be stored in a dry location prior to installation. Do not expose Back Box to rain, dust, or other environmental conditions prior to installation. Best results will be obtained if installed and maintained according to the following instructions.

Installation

This Back Box assembly has been shipped complete. Please follow the installation instructions.

BB/GAW Back Box is for wall mounting only

Tools Required:
• #2 Phillips head screwdriver, torque wrench, tool for mounting hardware (supplied by others).

  1. Determine the power conduit entry side and remove the conduit plug (1/2” NPT). Attach the BB/GAW Back Box to the wall by the 4 mounting feet. Use ¼” dia screw hardware that is designed for the mounting surface (wood, cement, etc). FIGURE 1. Figure 1.
  2. Run power wires into the BB/GAW Back Box through the open ½” NPT hole. Use green ground screw for power ground and fixture ground. FIGURE 1.
  3. Locate wedge plate and orient with the label showing the up orientation. FIGURE 2. Figure 2.
  4. Attach the wedge plate to the BB/GAW Back Box with provided hardware as shown in FIGURE 3. Torque screws to 20 in-lbs. Figure 3.
  5. Change out the galvanized top bracket on the top of the GAW luminaire with the black bracket (supplied with Back Box). Note that the black wedge bracket and wedge plate have extra corrosion resistance coating. Torque the screws to 20 in-lbs. FIGURE 4. Figure 4.
  6. Hang the luminaire from the wedge plate using the cable hanger and the screw in the wedge plate (FIGURE 2 AND 4).
  7. With the luminaire hanging from the cable hanger, make the power wire connections in accordance with luminaire instructions.
  8. Push all wire connections through hole in wedge plate and into Back Box. Lift the luminaire onto the wedge plate and make sure it is hooked on to the black wedge bracket. Ensure that the luminaire supply leads are not pinched between the wedge plate and the housing.
  9. Tighten the two setscrews on the luminaire per the luminaire instructions.
