ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
The 1-phase motor splitter is designed for connection to a standard
electricity network. (230V ± 10% / 50 Hz ± 1 Hz). Machines should be fed
through a current protector (RCD) having a tripping current of less than 30
mA. Use a 3-lead extension cable for connection. (P + N + PE). The mains
connection must be protected with a 16 A circuit breaker. Connect the
rubberised electrical cables with a minimum cross-section corresponding to the
machine input. Symbol H 07 RN must be in accordance with EN60245.
Note: Only connect the machine to an electrical power source that has
been properly revised. Check with your local Electricity Board or electrician
if in doubt whether your house service connection meets these requirements.
EXTENSION LEAD
- Always use a double-insulated power supply and the parameters corresponding to the machine’s power consumption. The minimum cross section of the cable must be determined according to the current or power data on the fork/label of the machine. It‘s not only necessary to take the load into account, but also the length of the extension lead and the type of fuse.
- Position power supply cable so it does not interfere with the work and is not damaged.
- Only use rubberised extension cables with sufficient conductor cross section and fully developed.
- The correct maximum load of the extension cable must always be indicated on its label.
- Use only outdoor cables, preferably colour-coded, well visible. This reduces the chance of accidental damage to the cable.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
- Wear approved eye protection! The operation of machine can result in foreign objects being thrown into your eyes which may result in severe eye damage. Normal glasses are not sufficient for eye protection. For example, corrective glasses or sunglasses do not provide adequate protection because they have not special safety glass and aren’t enough closed from the sides.
- Wear adequate noise protection equipment! The impact of noise can cause hearing damage or hearing loss. Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount of exposure per day. Always wear sturdy shoes with nonslip soles. Risk of damaging the legs or risk of slipping on wet or slippery ground. This protects against injuries and ensures a good footing.
- Wear protective gloves.
- Safety equipment such as a dust mask or hard hat used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
PREVENTION AND FIRST AID I

Always follow the principles of first aid in case of any injuries.
- If there is a cut, cover the wound with a clean bandage (fabric) and press down firmly to stop the bleeding.
- When an electric shock is caused, it is necessary more than anywhere else to put emphasis on safety and risk elimination for the rescuers. The affected person usually stays in contact with electrical equipment (source of injury) because of muscle spasms caused by the electric shock. Traumatic process continues in this case. It is therefore necessary to TURN THE POWER OFF FIRST using any possible way. Subsequently CALL AN AMBULANCE or other professional service, and then PROVIDE FIRST AID! Ensure free airways, check breathing, check pulse, put the affected flat on their back, bend their head and stick out their lower jaw. If necessary, begin with artificial respiration into the lungs and heart massage.
- Do not let hydraulic oil come in contact with your skin. Keep oil away from the eyes. If oil comes in contact with the eyes, wash them immediately with clean water. If irritation is still present, see a doctor immediately.
IN CASE OF FIRE:
- If the motor starts to burn or it the smoke appears from it, turn the product off, disconnect power supply and move away to safety.
- To extinguish the fire, use suitable fire extinguisher (CO2, Dry Powder, halotron).
- DO NOT PANIC. Panic can cause even more damage.

are no other objects
and obstacles that could restrict the operator’s free operation and movement
while working.
The substrate must be perfectly balanced to prevent slipping and the machine
falling during operation.
The substrate’s ideal height is 60-75 cm. Never work with the machine directly
on the ground.
Note: Ideally, screw the splitter firmly to the base / pedestal using the
holes in the splitter’s legs
CAUTION!
It‘s necessary to carry out check of the oil level before commissioning.
CHECK / POUR HYDRAULIC OIL
- Install the wedge splitter with the oil drain screw facing upwards, unscrew the screw and pull the dipstick out
- Wipe the dipstick and slide it back into the drain hole.
- Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. The oil trail must be between the MAX and MIN marks on the dipstick. (fig. 7)
- If necessary, add an adequate amount of oil and repeat the checks.
- After checking and refilling the oil, screw the dipstick and move the splitter into a horizontal position.
CAUTION!
Take note that the amount of oil is correct. Insufficient oil can cause pump
damage and too much oil can cause overheating of the pressure system.
IF THE MACHINE HAS NOT BEEN FILLED WITH HYDRAULIC OIL IN THE PRODUCTION:
- Install the wedge splitter with the oil drain screw upwards, unscrew the screw and pull the dipstick out
- Using a funnel, pour hydraulic oil into the machine. The quantity required is specified in the Specification.
- Refer to the section “CHECK / POUR HYDRAULIC OIL”.
CAUTION!
DO NOT TOUCH the hydraulic oil cap when the engine is running or hot. Hot oil
can leak, which can cause severe burns. Always allow the machine to cool down
before removing the hydraulic oil plug.
PRESSURE
WARNING!
DO NOT CHANGE THE SETTING MAXIMUM PRESSURE SCREW!
- Unauthorized resetting will cause the hydraulic pump fail to output enough splitting pressure or RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO THE MACHINE. The max pressure limiting screw is protected by a plastic cap and never to loose and adjust it.
BEFORE STARTING
AIR CIRCULATION
- Before starting work, it’s necessary to make sure of the air circulation in the oil tank. Air must flow freely through the tank.
- Loosen the hydraulic oil tank cap by several turns
CAUTION!
-
If the expanded or compressed air is unable to circulate, there will be a disproportionate load and permanent damage to the entire hydraulic system.
-
If the working valve plug is included in the delivery, remove the transport plug and replace it with a working plug
When transporting, it’s necessary to replace the plugs again. -
For your safety, and to maximize the service life of your equipment, it is very important to take a few moments to check the equipment condition before operating.
Always check the following before starting:
- the hydraulic hoses and the hydraulic oil level.
- whether the hydraulic oil tank plug is loosened
- Total control: Make sure there are no leaks, find loose or damaged parts.
- extension cable, plug and switches
- whether the splitting post is sufficiently lubricated and whether it’s moving in and out without difficulties
WARNING!
Be sure to take care of any problem you find, or have authorized service
dealer to correct it, before you operate the engine. Improper maintenance to
this engine, or failure to correct a problem before operation, can cause
malfunction in which you can be seriously hurt or killed
OPERATION
- IT IS DESIGNED FOR OPERATING UNDER AMBIENT TEMPERATURES BETWEEN +5°C AND 40°C
- The machine is designed for operation by one person, who must operate the machine by both hands
CAUTION!
- Never operate the machine without fully installed protective covers.
- The hydraulic control lever is operated with the left hand.
- The right hand operates the push-button switch (see chapter “Splitting”) ¨
- Until both hands are in place the pressure plate remains motionless.
- When the control is released, the pressure plate returns to the starting position.
- Always cut only one piece of wood.
- Always split the logs in the direction of the grain, never across! An attempt to split across the grain can seriously damage the machine and it‘s also dangerous for the operator.
- Always place the log directly on the splitting bed. During log splitting, the log must not be twisted, rocked or slipping.
- Do not bend the sharp edge of the wedge by splitting the log only at the top. This causes damage to the blade or damage to the machine.
- Never strain the wedge splitter by holding the pressure for longer than 5 seconds.
- With a longer load, the oil pressure causes overheating and the machine may be damaged. Logs that won‘t be able to chopped-off without problems, turn and try splitting in different directions. If the log can‘t be split, it means that its hardness exceeds the machine’s capabilities and that log should be removed in order to protect both the user and the machine.
- Keep your hands and fingers away from the logs and cracks that arise by opening the log by the non-split logs. Cracks may suddenly close and crush or amputate your fingers.
DIMENSIONS OF THE SPLIT LOG
- Figure (fig. 8) shows the maximum dimensions of the split log. The diameter of the log is decisive: a small log can be difficult to chop if it contains knots or unevenness, if the wood has straight lines, it isn‘t difficult to split a log with a diameter larger than shown (fig. 8). It‘s important not to try to split the log further if it doesn‘t do it at the first attempt. There is a risk of damage to the pump due to overheating of the oil.
SPLITTING
- Secure the wheels with wedges to prevent movement during work.
- Plug the splitter into an AC outlet
- Check the switch and control lever for correct operation. Check the hydraulic system for oil leaks.
- Place the log lengthwise and straight on the splitting bed. The log must lie flat on the wedge splitter and must be covered with guide plates. Make sure that the wedge and the pressure plate catch the log at both ends vertically.
- Press the electromotor switch (Fig. 9, 10 A). Wait a few seconds before the engine starts and the pressure is generated in the hydraulic pump.
- Push / turn the hydraulic control lever with the other hand (Fig. 10 B). (If the machine is equipped with a non-accidental trigger guard, first press the lock to lock the lever.)
- The pressure plate presses the log onto the wedge, therefore splitting the log.• If the log is split, release the control lever (Fig. 10 B). The pressure plate returns to the starting position.
- If you don‘t continue splitting immediately, release the engine switch.
- After work, don‘t forget to retighten the bleed screw (fig. 11).
- Never leave the machine unattended. If you leave the machine, even for a very short time, unplug the power cord or take all possible steps to avoid unexpected start-up.
PROCEDURE FOR RELEASING A STUCK LOG
- Release both controls.
- After returning the pressure plates back to the starting position, place a wooden wedge under the stuck log (Fig. 12).
- Start the splitter and push on the wooden wedge that is inserted under the stuck log.
- Repeat with a wedge that has a larger angle until the jammed log is released.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
CAUTION!
To ensure proper functioning of the machine, it is necessary to have it
checked and adjusted by qualified personnel in an authorized service centre at
least once a year. Proper maintenance is essential for safe, economic and
trouble-free operation of the machine. Failure to follow the maintenance
instructions and safety precautions may cause serious injury or death. Always
follow the procedures, safety precautions, recommended maintenance and
recommended checks mentioned in this manual
WARNING!
Prior to any work on the machine (maintenance, inspection, replacement of
accessories, servicing) or before storing it, ALWAYS SWITCH THE ENGINE OFF,
wait for all moving parts to stop and allow the machine to cool down. Prevent
the engine from being started accidentally (disconnect the power unit from the
mains). If the machine is equipped with a trigger key, remove it.
