If you notice any damage during transport or unpacking, notify your supplier immediately. DO NOT PUT INTO OPERATION.

SPECIFIC TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE

This product is exclusively intended for the use:

  • to cultivate landscaped beds
  • for breaking up and tiling coarse soil for the purpose of mixing in fertiliser, peat and compost.
  • according to the corresponding descriptions and safety instructions in these operating instructions. Any other use is not as intended.

If the product is used for any purpose other than the intended purpose or if unauthorized modification is made, the statutory warranty and statutory responsibility for defects as well as any liability on the part of the manufacturer will be void. Do not overload! Use the product only for the powers it was designed for. The product designed for a given purpose performs it better and safer than one that has a similar function. Therefore, always use the correct one for a given purpose. Please keep in mind that our products are not designed for commercial, trade or industrial use according to their intended purpose. We accept no liability if the product is used in these or comparable conditions.

Where it is required, follow the legal guidelines and regulations to prevent possible accidents during operation

Keep this instruction manual and use them whenever you need more information. If you don´t understand some of these instructions, contact your dealer. If the product is lent to another person, it is necessary to lent this instruction manual with it.

TRAINING

All operating personnel must be adequately trained in the use, operation and setting and especially familiar with prohibited activities.

  • No qualification is required except for a detailed lesson of the use of unit.
  • Never allow use by children or people unfamiliar with these instructions. Local regulations may specify an age limit of the operator.
  • This product is not intended for use by persons with reduced sensory or mental capacity or lack of experience and konwledge – unless they are under the supervision of the person responsible for their safety or if this person has instructed how use this product. The product is not intended for use by children and persons with reduced mobility or poor physical disposition. We strongly recommend that pregnant women to contact her doctor before use of this product.
  • Respect national/local regulations regarding working time (please, contact your local authority).

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Know your tool. Read owner’s manual carefully. Learn its applications and limitations as well as the specific potential hazards related to this tool. Familiarise yourself with the controls on the machine and how to use them.
  • Be careful at work, concentrate on actual work, and use the common sense.
  • An inattention during work may result in loss of control over the machine.
  • Do not use this machine if you tired, ill or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication.
  • Do not put hands and feet near rotating parts.
  • Do not put metal or stone into the machine.
  • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations.
  • Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the machine on. A wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the machine may result in personal injury.
  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or clothing that has cords or belts, jewellery, and the like. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
  • Prolonged use of the machine may lead to disorders of blood circulation in hands caused by vibration. These effects can be worsened by low ambient temperatures and/or by gripping the handgrips excessively tightly. Period of use you can extend with appropriate gloves or regular breaks. Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount of exposure per day.

APPLICATION OF MOTOR HOE – CULTIVATOR

WARNING

This machine can cause serious injury (for example, cutting off the limbs) and throw objects away. Failure to observe safety regulations can result in serious injury.

  • The machine may only be operated by one person.
  • Always ensure good stability on slopes.
  • Move the machine at walking pace.
  • The following applies for the machines on wheels: while working, proceed following the contour lines, never uphill or downhill.
  • Be especially careful when turning the machine or pulling it towards yourself.
  • Increased attention should be paid to places where the soil is rocky and hard. Under these conditions there is a risk of injury or damage to the machine by throwing stones, clods and the like.
  • The machine must not be lifted or transported while the engine is running. When changing the working area, switch off the machine and wait for the work tool to stop completely.
  • Never use the machine with damaged protection devices or covers or missing, modified or disconnected safety systems.
  • Do not work with a damaged, incomplete or rebuilt machine.
  • If you hit a foreign object, stop the machine. Allow the engine to cool down, disconnect the spark plug terminal and check for any damage to the machine. The machine must be repaired before starting and using it again.
  • If abnormal vibrations occur or you hear unusual sound during operation, stop the machine and determine the cause. Vibrations generally indicate a malfunction. Have it repaired before using it again.
  • If you use the machine for the first time or after a repair, it is necessary to perform a test run to see if any abnormal reactions occur. This avoids the risk of injury or damage to the machine.
  • Never leave this machine unattended at the workplace.
  • Turn off the engine every time you leave the machine.
  • Do not try to repair it yourself. Any work not mentioned in this manual SHOULD ONLY BE PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORISED SERVICE CENTRES.

PREPARATION

  • Examine the machine ensure it is in good condition, check all the screws, nuts and other fasteners are properly secured and the screen is in place. Replace unreadable labels.
  • Keep all guards and deflectors in place and in good working condition.
  • Remove accumulated debris from the muffler area and cylinder area. Inspect the muffler for cracks, corrosion, or other damage.
  • Check the machine before an each use to determine whether the working tools are not worn or damaged. Replace worn or damaged parts.

WORK AREA

  • Do not operate in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Product create sparks which may ignite the dust or fume.
  • Check the terrain where you are going to use the machine, and remove any objects thatcould be caught, tangled, or discarded (stones, shards of glass, nails, wires, toys, sticks, etc.). Only operate the machine on a safe surface and only in good light!
  • Never use the machine during rain and storms, especially if there is a risk of lightning strikes.
  • Never use the machine on a slippery surface.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating the machine. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
  • While working, make sure that you stand firmly. Be particularly careful when working on sloping terrain.

USING PETROL MACHINES

  • When working with a petrol machine never use brute force. The machine, which was designed for the job, performs it better and safer, therefore always use the correct machine for a given task.
  • The performance of a petrol engine mounted on a particular device, may not achieve gross output. It is caused by many factors, e.g. the used components (exhaust, charging, cooling, carburettor, air filter, etc.), usage restrictions, operational conditions of use (temperature, humidity, etc.) and the differences between individual engines produced

ENGINE OPERATION

WARNING!

Engine produces carbon monoxide during operation. It is a colourless, odourless poisonous gas. Breathing carbon monoxide can cause nausea, faintness, reproductive disorders or even death.

CAUTION!

A running engines generates heat. Parts of the engine and silencer become extremely hot during operation. After touching they may cause serious burns. If it is close to any flammable materials, e.g. leaves, grass, shrubbery etc., it may catch fire.

  • Do not start the engine in a closed space which can cause an accumulation of carbon monoxide.
  • Do not tilt the machine to avoid overturning or leaking petrol and oil.
  • Turn off en engine before leave the machine, or refueling.

Pay attention to the safety instructions and warnings in a chapter FUEL.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

  • Wear approved eye protection! The operation of machine can result in foreign objects being thrown into your eyes which may result in severe eye damage. Normal glasses are not sufficient for eye protection. For example, corrective glasses or sunglasses do not provide adequate protection because they have not special safety glass and aren’t enough closed from the sides.
  • Wear adequate noise protection equipment! The impact of noise can cause hearing damage or hearing loss. Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount of exposure per day.
  • Always wear long trousers when working. Do not use the machine when barefoot or if you have open-toe shoes. Always wear sturdy non-slip boots. There is a risk of foot injury or slipping on wet or slippery surfaces. Sturdy non-slip boots. These boots provide protection against injuries and ensure a firm stance. Wear protective gloves.
  • Safety equipment such as a dust mask or hard hat used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

PERSONAL PROTECTION AND FIRST AID

Note – we recommend always having:

  • A suitable fire extinguisher (snow, powder, halotron) at your disposal.
  • A fully equipped first-aid kit, easily accessible for accompaniment and operator.
  • Mobile phone or other device for quickly calling emergency services.
  • Accompaniment familiar with the principles of first aid.
  • Accompaniment must keep a safe distance from the workplace while always seeing you!
  • Always follow the principles of first aid in case of any injuries.
  • If there is a cut, cover the wound with a clean bandage (fabric) and press down firmly to stop the bleeding.
  • If the skin is burnt, avoid further exposure to the source of burns first. Cool the injured areas of smaller extend with water of preferably about 4-8 °C. Do not put ointments, creams or dusting powders on the affected area. The best way is to use a wet compress, for example a handkerchief or a towel. Then secure the sterile cover and, if necessary, seek medical attention.
  • If persons with circulatory problems are often exposed to excessive vibration, they may\ experience injury to blood vessels or their nervous system. The vibrations may cause the following symptoms appear on fingers, hands or wrists: numbness, itching, pain, tingling, changes in skin colour or of the skin itself. If any of these symptoms occur, consult a doctor.
  • Do not let petrol or oil come in contact with your skin. Keep petrol and oil away from the eyes. If petrol or oil comes in contact with the eyes, wash them immediately with clean water. If irritation is still present, see a doctor immediately.
  • Carbon Monoxide poisoning may lead to death! Early signs of carbon monoxide poisoning resemble flu-like symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and/or nausea. If you have these symptoms, get fresh air at once! If it´s necessary seek medical help.

IN CASE OF FIRE:

  • If the motor starts to burn or it the smoke appears from it, turn the product off and move away to safety.
  • To extinguish the fire, use suitable fire extinguisher (froth extinguishing, snow, powder, halotron).
  • DO NOT PANIC. Panic can cause even more damage.

RESIDUAL RISKS

Even if the product is used according to instructions, it´s impossible to eliminate all the risks associated with its operation. The following risks may occur arising from device construction:

  • * shape,
    • relative position,
    • mass and stability (potential energy of parts),
    • mass and velocity (kinetic energy of parts),
    • inadequate strength,
    • accumulation of potential energy:
    • elastic parts (springs), or
    • liquids or gases under pressure, or
    • vacuum parts of the machine or workpiece
  • Risk of crushing
  • Risk of shearing
  • Risk of cutting
  • Risk of winding
  • Ejection of part (of machinery and processed material/workpiece)
  • Loss of stability (of machinery and machine part)
  • Risk of slipping, tripping and falling near the machine (due to their mechanical nature)

Electrical risks caused, for example, by:

  • Touch (direct or indirect)
  • External impacts of electrical equipment

Thermal risks resulting in:

  • burns and scalding due to possible contact of persons, flames or explosions and due to radiation from heat sources

Risks caused by noise resulting in:

  • hearing loss (deafness), other physiological disorders (e.g., loss of balance, loss of consciousness)
  • interference of speech transmission, sound signals, etc.

Risks caused by vibration (resulting in neurological and vascular disorders)
Risks caused by materials and substances processed, used or removed by machinery, e.g.:

  • risks caused by contact or inhalation of harmful liquids, gases, mists, smoke and dust
  • risks caused by fire or explosion

Risks due to negligence of ergonomic principles in machinery design (unsuitable adaptation to human characteristics and abilities), e.g.:

  • unhealthy posture or excessive overload
  • disproportionate to the anatomy of a person’s hands or feet
  • by neglecting the use of personal protective equipment
  • human error.

Risks due to power outage, machine part breakage or other malfunctions, e.g.:

  • failure, malfunction of control system (self-starting, unexpected overspeed)
  • clamping errors
  • overturning, unexpected loss of stability

Risks due to (temporarily) missing and/or incorrectly placed guards/protective devices, e.g.:

  • all types of guards
  • all types of appropriate (protective) devices
  • start and stop devices
  • safety signs and signals
  • any kind of information or warning device
  • basic equipment and accessories for safe adjustment and/or maintenance

Risks due to sudden movement, instability, etc. Inappropriate/non-ergonomic design of control/driver position

  • risks due to hazardous surroundings (contact of moving parts, exhaust gases, etc.)
  • improper/non-ergonomic design/layout of controls
  • starting/moving the machine
  • movement of pedestrian-controlled machines

UNPACKING

  • Carefully check all parts after dismantling the transport box.
  • Do not throw away packaging materials until you have not reviewed carefully if they did not remain a part of the product.
  • Parts of the packaging (plastic bags, paper clips, etc.) do not leave within reach of children, could be a possible source of danger. There is a danger of swallowing or suffocating!
  • If you notice transport damage or while unpacking, notify your supplier immediately. Do not operate the product!
  • We recommend save the package for future use. The packaging materials must still be recycled or disposed of in compliance with the relevant legislation. Sort different parts of the packaging according to material and hand it to the appropriate collection sites. For further information contact your local administration.

Fasteners can become loose during transport in the packaging.

PACKAGE CONTENTS

Machine body, upper part of the handle, the lower part of the handle, a rear cover, a depth regulator, 2 x cultivation blades, 2 x wheels, connecting material, manual.

ASSEMBLY

  • It is better to carry out the installation in two persons; the machine is not stable after unpacking from the box.

FITTING THE DEPTH LIMITER AND COVER (FIG. 2-3)

  1. On the rear of the tiller (B), insert the depth limiter (A) into the holder and secure it with the pin (C). Set the depth of tilling by locking the limiter in the desired position.
  2. Attach the rear coulter cover to the machine with four screws (Fig. 3).
  3. Attach the protective side covers with the enclosed screws (Fig. 4)

HANDLE INSTALLATION (FIG. 5-6)

  1. Place the lower part of the handle on the gearbox (D) and align the lower holes on both parts. Secure the handle in the lower holes with the screws (E) (one on each side) and secure with the nuts (F). Do not tighten.
  2. Align the upper holes in the handle with one pair of holes in the gearbox (E) (according to the desired handle angle). Screw the handle in these holes with screws and nuts.
  3. After tightening the screws and nuts on the lower part of the handle, attach the upper part of the handle to it and connect the two parts with the four screws (H), washers (I) and butterfly nuts (J).

WHEEL INSTALLATION

CAUTION!
Always lock the wheels before tilling! Both wheels must always be locked or unlocked. Do not use the machine with only one wheel locked.

  1. Remove the locking pin (Fig. 7). Align the wheel holes with the shaft holes.
  2. Push the pin into the aligned holes in the wheel and shaft.
  3. Lower the retaining ring to secure the pin to the shaft.
  4. The wheel only rotates with the shaft.

  1. Remove the locking pin (Fig. 7). Slide the wheel on the shaft towards the machine so that the hole in the shaft remains exposed.
  2. Push the pin only into the shaft.
  3. Lower the retaining ring to secure the pin to the shaft.
  4. The wheel rotates freely on the shaft.

ASSEMBLY OF BLADES

  1. Attach each of the blades to the shaft with their cutting edge pointing forward. Opposite blades have to be pointing in the same direction. Fasten the blades with the cotter pins as shown in the (Fig. 8).

BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE

Note: All HECHT products equipped with petrol engine are tested to meet the very strict requirements for the permissible exhaust emission limits. In production plant engines are tested and adjusted during 8 minutes period. It is therefore possible, that exhausts or other parts of the engine may appear slight signs of use. Kindly excuse this fact. Without these settings and tests is not possible put petrol-powered products into operation.

CAUTION!

Due to transport, the machine is supplied without engine oil and fuel. Before commissioning, fill with oil and fuel!

FUEL

HECHT machines with a four-stroke engine must be operated exclusively with clean, unleaded petrol standard quality and class (depending on the season), without oil additives. The machine engine was homologated for this petrol.

  • The manufacturer does not recommend using petrol that is older than one month. There is
    a risk of clogging the carburettor.
    • Never use petrol containing an increased amount of ethanol.
    • Using alkylated petrol is only possible in accordance with the petrol producer’s instructions.

FUELING

WARNING!

Petrol and its vapours are highly flammable and explosive!

Prevent the possibility of fire

  • Never refuel in the room. Accumulation, ignition and explosion of petrol vapours may occur.
  • Don’t smoke or use an open flame during refilling.
  • Make sure you are away from heat, sparks and flames.
  • If petrol is spilled, don’t start the engine. Immediately clean up the spilled petrol.
  • Move the machine from the area, where the petrol has been spilled and wait until the fuel vapours dissipate to avoid the possibility of fire.

Turn off the engine. Never remove the fuel cap or add fuel when the engine is running or is hot. After stopping the engine, wait until the engine and the exhaust components cool down completely.

  1. Remove the fuel filler cap (Fig. 1-8).
  2. Fill petrol to maximum of one cm below the lower edge of the neck.
  3. Don’t overfill! Before starting the engine, wipe the spilled petrol.
  4. All closures of the tank and bulk containers needs to be refitted and tightened.
    Make sure that water and dirt doesn’t get into the fuel tank.

Note: Fuel can damage paint and some types of plastics. When topping up the fuel tank, be careful and try not spill any petrol. Damages caused by spilling fuel are not covered by the warranty.

MOTOR OIL

  • This engine is delivered without oil, be sure to put oil in the engine before the starting. Top-up the recommended oil type before first use.
  • Only use the recommended types of engine oils with the appropriate performance class (Fig. 4). (The recommended oil type is given in the Specifications)
  • DO NOT MIX DIFFERENT OILS!
  • Improper refilling or low oil levels can lead to irreparable engine damage.

CHECKING AND TOPPING-UP THE OIL

Check the oil level only when the engine is off and cool. The machine must stand level.

  1. Remove the oil filler cap / dipstick (Fig. 10 N) and dry it thoroughly
  2. Pull the plug of the oil filler cap/dipstick fully into the oil filler neck, but screw it. Then remove it. After pulling out, read the oil level dipstick.
  3. If the oil level is near or below the lower limit mark dipstick, remove the oil filler cap / dipstick and add oil to the engine between the upper and lower mark. Don‘t overfill.
  4. Refit the oil filler cap/dipstick

Change the oils according to the paragraph of MAINTENANCE / OIL CHANGE.

ENGINE PRE-OPERATION CHECK

For your safety, and to maximize the service life of your equipment, it is very important to take a few moments to check the engine condition before operating. If you have some doubts, don´t start the machine. Contact our authorized service.

ALWAYS CHECK THE FOLLOWING ITEMS BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE:

Total control: Make sure there are no leaks, find loose or damaged parts the equipment powered engine.

  • fuel level
  • air cleaner (if equipped)
  • correct fitting of spark plug end.
  • cleanness of controls (switches, handles)
  • safety and protective equipment
  • device, engine-powered tool.
  • Before each use, check the condition of cultivating blades, if damaged, replace them with new ones.

TYRE PRESSURE

Ensure correct tyre pressure. If the air pressure is too low, the tyre may become damaged or slip off. Excessive tyre inflation may result in tearing of the tyre. The correct inflation pressure is always provided on the side of the tyre. Use a tyre inflator containing a pressure gauge to inflate the tyres.

CAUTION!

Be sure to take care of any problem you find, or have authorized service dealer to correct it, before you operate the engine. Improper maintenance to this engine, or failure to correct a problem before operation, can cause malfunction in which you can be seriously hurt or killed.

HIGHER ALTITUDES

  • The engines operating at high altitudes (above 1600 meters above sea level) require the special attention, because decrease of the fuel mixture saturation ratio to supersaturation. This leads to the power loss and higher fuel consumption. For more information, contact an authorized service center.

OPERATION

The instructions in this manual apply under normal operating conditions. If you operate your engine under severe conditions, such as permanent high load, high temperature or unusually large humidity or dust, contact your service on the recommendations applicable to your individual needs and the way of using the machine in your case.

THE CULTIVATOR IS INTENDED FOR LOAD WHEN MOVING FORWARD ONLY.

OPERATING LEVER

TO START ENGINE

  1. Ignition is connected through the cable and the spark plug cap (the rubber boot) with the spark plug. Check the connection.
  2. Open the fuel valve ,,1” (Fig. 10-K).
  3. Adjust the choke lever (Fig. 10-L) into the position START ,,1” (choke turned on) when cold engine, into the position RUN,,0” (choke turned off) when warm engine.
  4. Move the engine speed control lever from the minimum position to about 1/3 (Fig. 9).
  5. Adjust the switch on/off (Fig. 1-12) into the position ON.
  6. Grasp the starter handle (Fig. 10-M) and pull gently on the starter handle until it begins to resist, then pull quickly and forcefully upwards.
    • Do not allow the starter grip to snap back against the engine. Return it gently to prevent damage to the starter.
  7. After 3-5 clouds, the engine start. After starting the engine, move the choke off,,0“ and move the throttle lever into position .

C The machine cannot be tilt. The danger of flooding the engine by oil. Exceptional is the change of oil. If you need to tilt the machine during maintenance or adjusting, press the handles to the ground (with the plug up).

WARNING!

Keep your hands and feet away from the blades, especially when starting the machine!

IDDLE SPEED

Set throttle control lever to its “Min. speed” position to reduce stress on the engine when tilling is notbeing performed. Lowering the engine speed to idle the engine will help extend the life of the engine, as well as conserve fuel and reduce the noise level of the machine.

STOPPING THE ENGINE

WARNING!

To stop the engine in an emergency, simply turn the engine switch to the OFF position (Fig. 1/M). Under normal conditions, use the following procedure.

  1. After the last tilling let the unit riddle running for 1-2 minutes. The engine will get cooled a bit.
  2. Place the engine speed control lever in the minimum/STOP position and wait for the engine to stop.
  3. Turn the engine switch to the OFF position (Fig. 1-12).
  4. Turn the fuel valve lever to the OFF position (if equipped).

Do not move the choke lever to the CLOSE position to stop the engine. It could happen to flood, backfire or damage the engine.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR WORKING

the soil is too stiff, it must be prearranged before cultivation (moistened) to avoid damage of the plough shares or other parts of tiller.

OPERATING SPEED

For normal tilling, set the throttle control lever to “Max. speed” for best tiller action. The throttle lever and the gear lever should be set so that the forward movement is at the slow-walking level. Besides depth regulator rod setting, variation of pressure on the handles also helps further controlof tilling depth and travel speed. A downward pressure on the handles will reduce the tilling depth and increase the forward speed. An upward pressure on the handles will increase the working depth and reduce the forward speed.

TINE CLUTCH CONTROL

In case of activation of the lever toward the handle will be activated the rotation of the blades\ together with locked wheels on the shaft. By releasing of the lever you will disconnect rotating of the blades and locked wheels on the shaft. Releasing of the lever will stop wheels and blades and machine will stop completely. Upper drive control lever ensures wheels and blades forward movement (Fig. 11-P). Bottom drive control lever ensures wheels reverse movement (Fig. 11-Q). Blades will stop .

DEPTH LIMITER

It regulates the depth of the loosening and helps the operator to control the direction and speed of the cultivator. Reducing the length of the depth limiter slows down the cultivator and the loosening is deeper. Increasing the length of the depth limiter allows faster movement and shallower cultivation.

ADJUSTING LOOSENING DEPTH:

  1. Remove the cotter pin (Fig. 21).
  2. Raise or lower the depth regulator rod.
  3. Align groove in depth regulator rod with the holes in bracket lock block and replace the cotter pin..

Do not adjust tilling depth unless tine clutch control lever is released to the neutral position

TILLING

Tilling is digging in, turning over and breaking up garden soil and prepare a seedbed for planting.

  • tiller will also clear the soil of unwanted vegetation. The decomposition of this vegetation matter enriches the soil.
  • If the soil is too stiff, it must be prearranged before cultivation (moistened or loosen) to avoid damage of the plough shares or other parts of tiller. Also, tilling soil that is too wet will produce unsatisfactory clods. Wait a day or two after heavy. Rrain for the soil to dry.
  • Do not use the machine in a case of heavy, wet clay soil. It can cause permanent damage to the machine.

Better growth will be obtained if an area is tilled properly and used soon after tilling to preserve. the moisture content. The type of soil and working conditions will determine the actual setting of the tilling depth. In some soils, the desired depth is reached first pass over garden. In other soils, the desired depth is obtained by going over the garden two or three times. In later case, the depth regulator rod should be lowered before each succeeding pass over the garden. Passes should be made across the length and width of the garden alternately. Do not try to dig too deeply in the first pass. If the machine jumps or bucks, allow the unit to move forward at a lightly faster rate. If the tiller stops forward motion and tries to dig in one spot, rock the handles from side to side to start it moving forward again. Rocks which are turned up should be removed from the garden area.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

CAUTION!

To ensure proper functioning of the machine, it is necessary to have it checked and adjusted by qualified personnel in an authorized service centre at least once a year.Proper maintenance is essential for safe, economic and trouble-free operation of the machine.
Failure to follow the maintenance instructions and safety precautions may cause serious injury or death. Always follow the procedures, safety precautions, recommended maintenance and recommended checks mentioned in this manual.

WARNING!

Prior to any work on the machine (maintenance, inspection, replacement of accessories, servicing) or before storing it, ALWAYS SWITCH THE ENGINE OFF, wait for all moving parts to stop and allow the machine to cool down. Prevent the engine from being started accidentally. Disconnect the spark plug.

THIS WARNING IS NOT REPEATED IN ANY FOLLOWING POINTS

Keep this recommendation about checks, maintenance and intervals stated in this users guide. Others service operations, which are more complicated, or it needs special tools, let it on our authorized service.

MACHINE MAINTENANCE

  • Keep the machine in good condition.
  • Careful handling and regular cleaning ensure that the machine remains functional and efficient for a long time.
  • In case of abnormal vibrations proceed according to instructions (see instruction for removal of fault).
  • Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure the equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Always ensure that the ventilation openings are kept clear of debris.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Use only original spare parts.
  • Replace safety and instruction stickers and labels with new if necessary.

ENGINE MAINTENANCE

INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE PLAN

CAUTION!

If the motor needs to be tilted during maintenance, the fuel tank must be empty. The spark plug must always be upwards. If the fuel tank isn‘t emptied and the motor is tilted differently and in a different direction, then it can be difficult to start due to the oil and petrol that clogs inappropriate parts of the motor, polluting the air filter, the spark plug and the like.

FIRST 5 HOURS OF OPERATION

  • Check fastening of all nuts

EVERY 25 HOURS OF OPERATION

  • Check fastening of all nuts
  • Clean surrounding of muffler
  • Air filter cleaning (if equipped)
  • Inspection, cleaning and possible spark plug replacement

OIL CHANGE

It is recommended to ask authorized service for oil change.

  • Note: The first oil change should be carried out after 5 operating hours, when operating under heavy load another change should be done after 25 operating hours. Drain the engine oil when the engine is warm. Warm oil drains quickly and complete. Attention: Do not drain oil when the engine is running
  1. Place a suitable container next to the engine to catch the used oil.
  2. Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick (Fig. 13 A).
  3. Remove the drain bolt (Fig. 13 B) – if equipped – and allow the used oil to drain completely into the container (Fig. 13 C).
  4. For engine without drain plug, we recommend to use oil extractor pump, or drain the oil into the container by slightly tilting the engine toward the oil filler cap/dipstick. Before tilting the machine, remove fuel from tank. Keep the spark plug end of the engine up. Do not drain oil from the upper filler neck unless the fuel tank is completely empty. Otherwise when the machine is tilted, fuel might leak and cause fire or explosion.
  5. Reinstall the drain bolt (Fig. 13 B). With the engine in a level position, fill to the upper limit mark on cap/dipstick.
  6. Reinstall the oil filler cap/dipstick securely (Fig. 13 A).

Note: Please dispose of used motor oil in a manner that is compatible with the environment. We suggest you take used oil in a sealed container to your local recycling center or service station for reclamation. Do not throw it in the trash or pour it on the ground or down a drain.

  • Running the engine with a low oil level can cause engine damage.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water after handling used oil.

AIR FILTER

A dirty air filter will restrict air flow to the carburetor and cause poor engine performance. Inspect the air filter each time the engine is operated. You will need to clean the air filter more frequently if you operate the engine in very dusty areas.

Note: Operating the engine without an air filter, or with a damaged air filter, will allow dirt to enter the engine, causing rapid engine wear. This type of damage is not covered.

AIR FILTER INSPECTION AND CLEANING

CAUTION!

The air filter must be serviced (cleaned) after 25 hours normal working. Service more frequently when operating the machine in extremely dusty areas. Shut off the engine before performing any service on the machine. Wait till all moving parts are completely stopped and disconnect the spark plug.

1. Release the air filter cover (Fig. 15 A)
2. Remove the air filter cover. Be careful to prevent dirt and debris from

falling into the air filter base.
3.| Remove the air filter from the air filter base.
4.| Inspect the air filter elements. Clean dirty elements.
5.| Wash the cover and filter element in warm soapy water, rinse, and allow to dry thoroughly. Or clean in non-flammable solvent and allow to dry. DO NOT USE GASOLINE!
6.| Dip the filter element in clean engine oil, then squeeze out all excess oil. The engine will smoke if too much oil is left in the foam.
7.| Reassemble the air cleaner.

8.| Close the cover and secure it.

Replace filter if frayed, torn, damaged or unable to be cleaned.

SPARK PLUG

For best results, replace the spark plug (Fig. 17) every 100 hours of use. Use only the recommended spark plug which is the correct heat range for normal engine operating temperatures. To find actual types of recommended spark plugs please contact an authorized service center.

CAUTION

If the engine was in operation before a short time, let it cool down. Be carefull not to touch this parts. Incorrect spark plugs can cause engine damage.

For good performance, the spark plug must be properly gapped and free of deposits.

  1. Disconnect the cap from the spark plug and remove any dirt from the spark plug area (Fig. 17).
  2. Use the proper size spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug.
  3. Inspect the spark plug. Replace it if damaged, badly fouled, if the sealing washer is in poor condition, or if the electrode is worn.
  4. Measure the electrode gap with a suitable gauge. The correct gap is listed in the Specifications. If adjustment is needed, correct the gap by carefully bending the side electrode.
  5. Install the spark plug carefully, by hand, to avoid cross-threading.
  6. After the spark plug is seated, tighten with the proper size spark plug wrench to compress the washer.
  7. When installing a new spark plug, tighten by 1/2 turn after the spark plug seats to compress the washer.
  8. When reinstalling the original spark plug, tighten by 1/8 – 1/4 turn after the spark plug seats to compress the washer.
  9. Attach the spark plug cap to the spark plug.

Note: Over-tightening the spark plug can damage the threads in the cylinder head

MUFFLER

Allow the engine and exhaust to cool before handling.

  • Remove accumulated debris from muffler area and cylinder area.
  • Make sure the muffler is without cracks, corrosion or other damage.
  • If the exhaust system is fitted with a spark arrester, it must be kept clean and passive.

After removing the arrester and knocking out the coarse dirt, clean the arrester with a fine brush (e.g. toothbrush) from all deposits. After cleaning, reassemble it.

CARBON SEDIMENTS

It is recommended to remove carbon sediments from cylinder, piston upper side and valves surrounding each 100 – 300 operating hours in authorised service center

FUEL SYSTEM

CAUTION!

Spare parts of fuel system (plugs, hoses, tanks, filters etc.) must be the same as original otherwise arises danger of fire.

  • Regularly check the condition of fuel hoses.
  • Replace the fuel hose every 2 years. If fuel leaks from fuel hose, replace the fuel hose immediately.

REPLACEMENT OF FUEL FILTER

Do not use the machine without fuel filter in any case. Replace fuel filter regularly.

  1. Drain off the fuel (pic. 10-O) from the tank to suitable container in the well ventilated place.
  2. Draw out the fuel pipe from the tank by wire hook and remove it by turning.
  3. Replace the fuel filter and fitted fuel pipe get back into the fuel tank.

ENGINE ADJUSTMENTS

CAUTION!

Do not change in any way the rated speed of the engine (carburetor side or regulator side). Your engine was adjusted in the factory. If the motor settings is changed in any way, the warranty will be cancelled. If additional adjustment is necessary (eg. for high altitude), contact authorized service center!

CLEANING

CAUTION!

Do not hose engine. Water can damage engine or contaminate the fuel system.

  • Carefully clean the machine after each use.
  • If the engine has been running, allow it to cool for at least half an hour before cleaning.
  • Clean all exterior surfaces.
  • Wipe the surface of the machine and engine cover with dry cloth.
  • Never use aggressive detergents or solvents for cleaning.
  • If any of the parts of the machine is cleaned by water or a damp cloth, etc., it must be completely dry.
  • Potential damage of the parts due to corrosion, can not be assessed as a manufacturing or material defect.
  • Wipe the surface of the machine and the motor with a dry cloth.
  • Touch up any damaged paint, and coat other areas that may rust with a light film of oil.

STORAGE

CLEAN THE MACHINE BEFORE STORING ACCORDING TO THE PARAGRAPH MAINTENANCE / CLEANING.

CAUTION!

Store this machine on place where the fuel vapors can not be in reach of open fire or sparks.

Let the fuel to run dry before long storage. Always let the machine get cool before storing.

  • Store the machine in a dry, clean and frost-protected place, out of reach of unauthorized persons.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Use only original spare parts.
  • If possible, avoid storage areas with high humidity, because that promotes rust and corrosion.
  • If there is gasoline in the fuel tank, leave the fuel valve in OFF position (if the machine is equipped with it).
  • Keep the engine level in storage. Tilting can cause fuel or oil leakage.
  • With the engine and exhaust system cool, cover the engine to keep out dust. A hot engine and exhaust system can ignite or melt some materials.
  • Do not use sheet plastic as a dust cover. A nonporous cover will trap moisture around the engine, promoting rust and corrosion.

Note: When storing care should be taken to rust-proof the equipment. Using a light oil or silicone, coat the equipment, especially all metal parts and all moving parts.

OFF-SEASON STORAGE

The following steps should be taken to prepare machine for storage.

  1. Empty the petrol tank with a suction pump after the last working of the season.
  2. Start the engine and let it run until it has used up all remaining petrol and stalls.
  3. Remove the spark plug. Through the thread in the cylinder head (through the hole for the spark plug), pour an appropriate amount of recommended engine oil into the combustion chamber.
    Operate the starter to evenly distribute the oil in the combustion chamber. Replace the spark plug.

Replace spark plug.

WARNING!

Do not drain the petrol in closed rooms, in close proximity of open fire, etc. Do not smoke! Petrol fumes can cause explosion or fire.

REMOVAL FROM STORAGE

Check your engine as described in the BEFORE STARTING section of this manual. If the fuel was drained during storage preparation, fill the tank with fresh gasoline.

FUEL STORAGE

WARNING!

Fuel can only be stored in designated cans /containers. When stored in other cans / containers, pollution or a petrol explosion may occur.

  • Never store engine in vicinity of stoves, ovens, water heaters with pilot light, contingently other (such as electromagnetic doorbells, relays).
  • Only store clean petrol without oil (including the petrol in the tank) only in the amount that you are likely to use within a month. Petrol degrades during longterm storage. Pure petrol degradation can be partially eliminated with a fuel stabiliser.

Degraded petrol can cause problems when starting the engine, clogging or damage to the entire fuel system (especially the carburetor).

TRANSPORTING

WARNING!

Do not carry or transport the machine while the engine is running. Let the engine to cool down before transporting the machine. The fuel tank must be empty. Spilled fuel or fuel vapor may ignite.

  1. Empty the petrol tank with a suction pump. Start the engine and let it run until it has used up all remaining petrol and stalls.
  2. Close the fuel cap firmly.
  3. Turn the engine switch and fuel valve (if equipped) to the off or stop position.
  4. Let the engine to cool down before transporting.
  5. Take care not to drop or strike the machine when transporting.
  6. Tie down the machine securely in an upright position while transporting.
  7. Take care not to strike the machine when transporting. Do not place objects on the machine.

TROUBLESHOOTING

CAUTION!

You cannot rectify disorders that require more intervention yourself. If you‘re unable to rectify the fault using the corrective measures described below, contact a specialist garage, preferably an authorised service centre. Improper handling can cause damage or serious injuries.

GUARANTEE OF THE ENGINE

NORMAL WEAR:

Similarly as all mechanical devices, the engines need periodical service and spare parts replacement in order to work correctly. Guarantee is not related to such repairs when lifetime of the part of engine was exhausted by normal operation.

INCORRECT MAINTENANCE:

Lifetime of the engine depends on conditions, in which it is operated and on care which is given to it. The guarantee does not relate to wearing caused by dust, dirt, sand or other abrasive materials which penetrated into engine in consequence with incorrect maintenance. This guarantee relates only to material and production defects. Therefore do not ask replacement of back payment of devices in which can be assembled the engine. The guarantee does not relate either for repairs caused by:

  • Using other than original spare parts.
  • Control elements or devices which make starting difficult, cause power output reduction and reduce its lifetime (contact producer of the device).
  • Untight carburetors, stopped fuel pipes, seized valves or other defects, caused by using dirty or old fuel. Use only fresh plumb free petrol and fuel stabiliser.
  • Parts which are rubbed out or broken due to operation with unsufficient oil level, using dirty or oil incorrect specifications. Use the oil recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Repair or adjustment of connected parts or assembly, e.g. gear couplings, remote controls and similar, not original ones.
