Product Information

The product is a device manufactured by Wavlink. It is designed to extend the range of a Wi-Fi signal from a host router, allowing users to connect to the internet in areas with weak or no signal coverage. The device has a management page that can be accessed to configure various settings, including Wi-Fi setup and security options.

Common Problems

  1. Device Overheating: It is normal for the device to get hot during operation. This should not affect its usage.
  2. Weak Security Warning: If you receive a weak security warning when connecting the Wi-Fi signal with your iPhone or Mac, you can resolve this issue by logging into the device’s management page. Go to Wi-Fi setup and change the Security Type to WPA2.
  3. Signal Repeating Issue: If you are unable to successfully repeat the signal from your host router, follow these steps to troubleshoot:
    • Reset the device by pressing the reset button for 6 seconds and configure it again. Resetting helps resolve most unexpected problems.
    • Ensure that the password entered on the device matches the password of your router. Pay attention to the case sensitivity.
    • Place the repeater closer to your router and ensure that you receive at least 3 bars of signal strength from the router. A strong signal from the router makes it easier for the repeater to repeat the signal.

The device is very hot, is that normal?
Normally, the device will get hot, normally this will not affect the usage.

What should I do if get a weak security warning when I connect the wifi signal to my iphone/mac?
Please log in to the management page and go to wifi>>wifi setup, then pls change the Security Type to wpa2.

Why I could not repeat the signal of my host router successfully?
Such a problem might be caused by many reasons. Please kindly try the steps below to check if these could help.

  1. Reset the device by pressing the reset button for 6s and configure it again. Resetting will be helpful for a most unexpected problem
  2. Make sure the password is be same as your router. (pay attention to the case)
  3. Enable the DHCP of your router. Or the repeater could not get the IP address. If the DHCP of the router is enabled, pls skip this step)
  4. Disable the MAC filter of your router. If you enable the Mac filter in your router, the Wavlink device might be not on the white list.
  5. So it could not repeat the signal of the router. (If the Mac filer is not enabled, pls skip this step)
  6. Change the encryption of your router to WPA2, WPA1 or WPA1/WPA2 MIX. Our device does not support WPA3.
  7. Try to repeat the 5g signal of your host router, if there is no 5G signal, you could change the 2.4g channel of your host router to 1 6 or 11.
  8. For the 5g signal, we also suggest you change to channel to 36,40 or 44. Then repeat the signal.
  9. In some cases, the congested channel might cause this problem.
  10. Try to choose bridge mode. This is mainly to avoid the gateway conflict.
  11. Place the repeater closer to your router, and make sure you can get at least 3 bars of the signal from the router, a strong signal from the router will be easier to repeat.
