The M-6200-A514 connecting rods are reconfigured heavy-duty marine/truck production 460 stock length (6.605″) rods that have been bushed for a .990″ floating pin and fitted with ARP 190,000 psi Wavelike bolts. They are adequate for drag racing and similar applications (i.e. short duration runs). The durability can be improved by polishing and shortening which is highly recommended. This work should be done by a qualified race engine shop. However, even after polishing and shotpeening, the rods are not recommended for extended operation at high RPM (over 6000).

The rods have been weight matched but they should be rechecked before assembly. Trim the weight pads as required to correct any variations. Inspect for any material flaws before using. Two pin locks per side are required to assemble the rods and M-6108-B514 pistons (included with the pistons).

Torque the rod bolts to 50 ft./lbs. using 30 wt. engine oil. On initial assembly back off and retorque the rod bolts two times to “seat” the nuts.

Rod side clearance should be .010″ – .015″ per pair with chamfers facing the crank journal filet.
