RAB R34-6B Carbonate 5 W LED Ceiling Downlight

Product Information

This product is a modified luminaire designed to operate LED lamps. It is not compatible with incandescent lamps. The product is manufactured by RAB Lighting Inc., and the model number is R34-6.
The package includes the following items:

  • Downlight (1)
  • E26 Adaptor (1)
  • Lumi Sticker (1)

Optional accessories:

  • 6 Band with Friction clips (RFLED-RETROBAND)
  • Color trim (DLTRIMR6RS-xx-L)

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Ensure you have the necessary tools, including a screwdriver.
  2. Remove the existing trim and bulb from the recessed housing.
  3. Unscrew the screws on the socket bracket and push the bracket upward to the top location.
  4. Remove the existing socket mounting plate from the recessed housing, along with the lamp socket.
  5. Screw the E26 adaptor into the socket inside the housing.
  6. Select the desired color temperature (CCT) level using the switch on the driver box.
  7. Plug the E26 base cable connection into the recessed housing.
  8. Squeeze the torsion springs as shown and install them into the metal brackets inside the recessed housing. Ensure the springs are seated within the brackets and on both sides of the housing.

IMPORTANT

READ CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING FIXTURE. RETAIN THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. RAB fixtures must be wired in accordance with the National Electrical Code and all applicable local codes. Proper grounding is required for safety. THIS PRODUCT MUST BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE INSTALLATION CODE BY A PERSON FAMILIAR WITH THE CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF THE PRODUCT AND THE HAZARDS INVOLVED.

WARNINGS

  • Risk of electrical shock. Disconnect power at fuse or circuit breaker before installing or servicing.
  • To prevent early lamp failure, lamp should only be installed in operating environments ranging between -4°F and +104°F [-20°C and +40°C).
  • No user-serviceable parts inside. To avoid electrical shock do not disassemble the product.
  • Risk of fire or electric shock, LED Retrofit Kit installation requires knowledge of luminaires electrical systems. If not qualified, do not attempt installation. Contact a qualified electrician.
  • Risk of fire or electric shock, Install this kit only in luminaires that have the construction features and minimum dimensions shown in Figure-1 and where the input rating of the retrofit kit does not exceed the input rating of the luminaire.
  • Do not make or alter any open holes in an enclosure of wiring or electrical components during kit installation
  • To prevent wiring damage or abrasion, do not expose wiring to edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects.
  • Installers should not disconnect existing wires from lamp holder terminals to make new connections at lamp holder terminals, Instead installers should cut existing lamp holder leads away from the lamp holder and make new electrical connections to lamp holder lead wires by employing applicable connectors.
  • This retrofit kit is accepted as a component of a luminaire where the suitability of the combination shall be determined by authorities having jurisdiction.
  • This device is not intended for use with emergency exits.
  • These retrofit kits are suitable for wet locations luminaires specified as below: Type Non-IC; Type IC; Covered ceiling; Uncovered ceiling.
  • Installers should examine all parts that are not intended to be replaced by the retrofit kit for damage and replace any damaged parts prior to installation of the retrofit kit.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Make sure the power is turned off at the source to the recessed housing(s) that you are installing the fixture(s) in. Remove existing trim and bulb.
  2. Unscrew the screws on socket bracket, push bracket upward to the top location. (Fig. 2)
  3. Remove existing socket mounting plate from the recessed housing and then remove lamp socket from the plate.
  4. Screw the E26 adapter into the socket inside the housing.

  6. Plug E26 base cable connection into the recessed housing.
  7. Squeeze torsion springs as shown and install into the metal brackets inside the recessed housing. For proper installation, the torsion springs should be seated within the brackets and on both sides of the housing. (Fig. 7)RAB-R34-6B-Carbonate-5-W-LED-Ceiling-Downlight- \(9\)
  8. Carefully place wires into fixture and push the LED trim into the housing until flush with ceiling.
