Safety instructions
In order to avoid malfunctions, damage or health-related impairments, please observe the following:
- Never use a damaged device. Cracks in the housing can cause electric shock.
- Keep away from children. Do not leave packaging material or protective films lying around unattended; they can become very dangerous if in the hands of children.
- Do not stare directly into the LED, and do not point the LED light beam at human eyes.
- Do not use any optical instruments with strong focus for viewing the light beam.
- When measuring, do not touch any bare wires or live components.
- Attention! This device is not suitable for use in industrial high-voltage facilities.
- Do not expose the device to direct sunlight, moisture, pollution, extreme temperatures, strong light sources, or strong magnetic fields.
- In order to protect the surface, do not clean the voltage detector with aggressive, solvent-based cleaning agents.
- Do not dismantle the device, and do not attempt to repair it by yourself. Modifications or alterations are not permitted.
- When not using the device for a long time, remove the batteries. Do not mix non-rechargeable batteries with rechargeable batteries. Only use batteries of same type.
- Batteries must not be recharged, dismantled, thrown into fire, or short-circuited. Do not dispose of batteries through household waste.
Usage
Inserting batteries
- Lift the fastening clip and pull it backwards to remove.
- Insert two batteries (2 x 1.5 V LR03 / AAA) into the device, observing correct polarity. Refer to the markings on the device.
- Reattach the fastening clip to the detector until it locks into place. The clip features the ON/OFF button for turning the LED on or off respectively.
Handling
This device is a non-contact AC voltage tester for detecting alternating voltages of 60V-1000V. When alternating voltages have been detected, the LED indicator light lights up red and the buzzer emits short signal sounds. In addition to that, the flashlight lights up white for illumination purposes while pressing the button.
- A: Sensor tip
- B: Flashlight
- C: Indicator light
- D: Buzzer
- E: Flashlight button
- F: Release button
- For checking functionality, position the sensor tip of the detector at a live socket. The sensor tip must light up red, and you should hear a signal sound. If not, please check the batteries.
- Then position the sensor tip at the object to be tested.
If the device emits an acoustic and visual signal, the tested object is live. In order to detect any potential cable rupture, position the sensor tip of the phase tester along the cable; if there is no signal at a certain point, the tested cable is ruptured from that point on.
ATTENTION: In case of three-phase current, detecting cable ruptures is not possible!
