Introduction

‘Thanks for purchasing BOYA BY-8M2040!

The BOYA BY-BM2040, a compact super-cardioid shotgun microphone, is able to provide high-quality audio for your video. Unique super-cardioid polar pattern and tight pickup area focus directly in front of the microphone and reduce other surround- ing sounds, ensuring that your subject is isolated from any background noise.

Reinforced carbon fiber + ABS construction at only about 79, the microphone always keeps your setup super lightweight, making it ideal for handheld shooting. Equipped with a professional shock mount can be adjusted back and forth and more stably improve the recording effect of the device.

The BOYA BY-BM2040 is compatible with smartphones, tablets, DSLR cameras, and camcorders. it i ideal for viogging, mobile journalism, live streaming, ASMR recording, and more.

Setting up your microphone with camera

Fix the microphone to the shock mount and loosen the locking knob of its cold shoe mount, then slide the mount onto the camera.
Tighten the locking knob, to secure the microphone.
Use the 3.5mm TRS to TRS audio cable to connect the camera and microphone.

Setting up your microphone with smartphone, tablets or laptop

Use the 3.5mm TRS to TRRS audio cable to connect the smartphones, tablets or laptop and microphone.
Turn on the audio-only or video recording app and start recording.

Please noted to plug 90 degree 3.5mm TRS connector to the ophone and straight 3.5mm TRRS connector to the smartphone, tablets or laptop.

Problem	Solution
The microphone cannot work properly	Make sure you use the correct audio

connector.

3.5mm TRS to TRS cable: for cameras, camcorders, digital recorder and other devices with a 3.5mm TRS jack.
3.5mm TRS to TRRS cable: for smartphone, tablet, laptop and other devices with a3.5mm TRRS jack.

Too much ambience noise is being picked up|

Wear the supplied foam windscreen or fur windshield.
Reduce the input gain of the external device appropriately.
Make sure that the microphone is as close to the subject as possible. A certain amount of ambient noise is unavoidable in loud environments.
