LUTRON HWR-PD-8-120FT LiteTouch DIN Retrofit Subplate

Important Notes

Codes: All wiring must be installed in accordance with all local and national electrical codes.
Cooling: This equipment is air-cooled. Ensure the panel is in a place where the vented cover will not be blocked and maintain a minimum of 12 in (305 mm) of clearance from the top, bottom, and front of the panel.
Environment: This equipment is intended for indoor use only; in a 32 °F to 104 °F (0 °C to 40 °C) setting with a relative humidity less than 90%, non- condensing.
Mounting Location: DIN Power Modules (DPMs) will hum slightly and internal relays will click while in use. Only use in a location where such noise is acceptable.
Can be used only with the Lite Touch Four-Module Enclosure.

Tools Required for Installation

  1. 9/64 in (3.58 mm) drill bit
  2. Vacuum
  3. Proper wire for connecting the DPMs

Installation

The LiteTouch DIN retrofit subplate is designed to mount into an existing Litetouch four-module enclosure to allow for the installation of Lutron DIN rail power modules (DPMs). See specification submittal 3691250 for details. See DIN module specification submittals for product ratings. See Lutron Application Note #817 (P/N 048817) at www.lutron.com for a list of LiteTouch modules and recommended Lutron DPMs. Note: To prevent voiding the UL certification on the panel, do not modify the main input feed wiring.

  1. Turn OFF all Power Sources to the Panel
Electric Shock Hazard. May Result in Serious Injury or Death. To avoid the risk of electric shock, locate and lock supply breaker in the OFF position before wiring to the input terminals or terminal blocks.

  2. Prepare the Enclosure
Remove the LiteTouch modules from the enclosure. Remove existing labels, except the UL label in the LiteTouch enclosure.

  3. Affix New Enclosure Label
Place the included label in the panel as shown. Note the top right of the label goes to the left of the ground bus.

  4. Secure the Subplate in the LiteTouch Enclosure
4a. Place the subplate perpendicular to the enclosure with the terminal blocks passing through the enclosure barrier openings. Rotate the subplate towards the left of the enclosure using a hinge motion.

4b. Slide the subplate flat against the enclosure and into place

4c. Mark the seven mounting locations shown with arrows and remove the subplate from the enclosure. Drill holes using a 9/64 in (3.58 mm) bit on the marked locations being careful to drill through only the enclosure. After the holes are drilled use a vacuum to remove any metal shavings.

4d. Reinstall the subplate and secure it using the provided silver screws in the accessory bag. Torque the screws to 17 in-lb (1.92 N•m).

  1. Mount QS Wire Landing Board (QS-WLB)
Mount QS Wire Landing Board (QS-WLB) to the lefthand side of subplate using the standoff holes on the subplate. To make installation easier, use a screwdriver to press in each standoff one by one.

  2. Install QS Link Harness
Using the provided cable ties, secure the QS link harness to the left side of the subplate in the provided cable tie anchors. See image below.
NOTE: Route and secure low-voltage (Class 2) wires away from line-voltage wires per local and national codes.

  3. Mount the DIN Power Modules (DPMs)
Mount the DIN Power Modules (DPMs) onto the DIN rail rows aligning them to the right. Mount with the arrow pointing up to ensure adequate cooling. Mount to DIN rail by pressing module onto rail with clips pressed in. To remove from rail, pull clips out using a screwdriver. Also remove the QS link connector from each unit. See DPM install guide for more details. If an LQSE-4M-120-D is required, see step 9 for wiring. Use the provided end stops to prevent the DIN module from sliding side to side.

  4. Wire the DIN Power Modules (DPMs)
Install mains, load, and QS link wiring to each of the DPMs. LQSE-4T5-120-D shown for reference. See DPM install guide for more details.

  5. 3-Wire Motor Control Module Only (LQSE-4M-120-D)
When installing a LQSE-4M-120-D (4M) it is required to replace the existing terminal Dim Hot (DH) or red terminal blocks on the subplate with the raise/ lower motor terminal blocks (red/yellow terminals) provided with the 4M packaging. Note that only the red and yellow terminal blocks will be used from the 4M packaging. Remove the existing DH terminal blocks where the 4M will be located. Install the 4M terminal blocks as shown.

  6. Check that all Bypass Jumpers are Installed
Bypass jumpers distribute power to each load and should not be removed until after all modules and loads are installed and verified. Not applicable for the LQSE-4M-120-D.

  7. Install Panel Cover
Install panel cover using the new cover and black screws provided in the accessory bag.
NOTE : The existing panel cover CANNOT be reused, and will void the warranty if used.

  8. Turn On Power and Check for Errors
Turn on power and check for errors. If any circuit breakers trip, an error needs to be resolved.

  9. Turn Off Power and Remove Bypass Jumpers
Turn off power, remove cover, and remove bypass jumpers once wiring has been verified.

  10. Install Cover and Restore Power to the Panel
Install cover and restore power to the panel and each branch circuit. If lights do not turn on, an error needs to be resolved. Verify wiring and loading on each module. See DPM install guides for troubleshooting steps for each module.

  11. Program the New DPMs
Using the HomeWorks programming tool, the link type will need to be changed from a panel link to a QS link to establish communication with the new DPMs. Each DPM output must also be setup for the correct load type.
