Product Information

The addendum provides additional information about three small parts included with the Classic Dobsonians:

  1. T-Nut: A small threaded nut that is used to assemble the ground plate assembly.
  2. Black Plastic Bushing: A short plastic bushing that adds stability to the center bolt.
  3. Adhesive Rubber Bumper: A bumper that is applied to the inside of the front base to cushion the mirror cell.

Product Usage Instructions

Assembling the Ground Plate Assembly
  1. Unthread the T-Nut from the included center bolt.
  2. Place the T-Nut into the center hole of the triangular plate from the top side.
  3. Thread the center bolt up from the bottom to secure the T-Nut in place.
Adding Stability to the Center Bolt
  1. Insert the black plastic bushing into the center bore of the circular (top) baseplate.
  2. The bushing will slide in and be held in place as a friction fit.
Applying the Adhesive Rubber Bumper
  1. Remove the backing from the adhesive rubber bumper.
  2. Position the bumper on the inside of the front base where the mirror cell contacts it.
  3. Press firmly to ensure that the adhesive holds the bumper securely in place.

Note: The rubber bumper serves as a stop for the telescope’s altitude motion, preventing the mirror cell from hitting against the hard surface of the base’s front brace.

ADDENDUM TO IN676 SKYQUEST XT CLASSIC DOBSONIANS

There are three small parts included with the Classic Dobsonians that are not mentioned in the manual. There is a small T-Nut that is threaded onto the included center bolt for assembling the ground plate assembly (Figure 1). Unthread the T-Nut from this bolt (Figure 2) and place into the center hole from the top side of the triangular plate (opposite the pre-installed feet). The center bolt will thread up from the bottom to secure this in place. The next part is a short black plastic bushing (Figure 3). This inserts into the center bore of the circular (top) baseplate. It will simply slide in and be held in place as a friction fit. This is designed to add stability to the center bolt. The diagram in Figure 4 illustrates where the pieces should be installed. The last part is an adhesive rubber bumper that is applied to the inside of the front base. The purpose of this is to cushion the mirror cell so it does not hit against the base plate when pointing the scope vertical. The rubber bumper provides a convenient “stop” for the telescope’s altitude motion. This prevents the telescope mirror cell from being knocked against the hard surface of the base’s front brace. Remove the backing from the rubber bumper and position the bumper so it is positioned in the spot where the optical tube (mirror cell) contacts the front base as shown in Figure 5a and 5b. Press firmly so the adhesive holds the bumper securely in placeORION-
