Use

Installation

• Measure the surface you want to attach the LED strip to adjust the length of the LED strip you can cut it with scissors before mounting it. There are markings on the LED strip that show where a cut can be made.

Note! The cutting of the LED strip can be reversed by soldering the two pieces back together or using an extension clip (sold separately). Mind the marked arrows on the LED strip when reattaching.

• Remove the protective film from the back of the LED strip to expose the adhesive tape. Press the strip to a smooth, clean and dry surface.

Connections
Connect the LED strip to the control unit. Use the arrows marked on both connectors as guide. Connect the control unit to the power cord. Connect the power cord to a wall socket. The LED strip flashes and is ready for pairing with the app.

Connect to app

1. Find and install the app ‘Smart Life – Smart living’ on App Store or Google Play.

2. Register an account in the app or log in to an existing one.
   Activate Bluetooth and location services on your device.
   Make sure your smart device is connected to your 2.4 GHz wifi.

3. Press “+” or “Add device” in the app. The app searches for devices nearby. Choose to add the LED strip when found in the app.
   To add it manually go to “Lighting”- and select “Strip Lights (BLE+Wi-Fi)”. Note! If the pairing is unsuccessful follow the “Factory reset” instructions, then restart this step.

4. If you are using the Smart life-Smart living account for the first time, enter your details for your 2.4 GHz wifi.

5. The app confirms when the LED strip is added successfully.
   Note! The pairing procedure might change due to regular app updates. If the instruction does not correspond with the app interface, please visit www.kjell.com/51715 -> “Support” for updated instructions.

Factory reset
Press and hold the Pairing/reset button on the control unit for 5 seconds. The LED strip starts flashing when it has been reset.
Note! If you want to install the LED strip in another wifi network, you must disconnect it from the current wifi and remove it from the app. Click on the LED strip panel on the app’s home screen, then the pen symbol “/•” in the upper right-hand corner. At the bottom of the page, press “Remove Device”.

Troubleshooting

• The LED strip cannot connect to the app.
  • Make sure your smart device is connected to a 2.4 GHz wifi with a stable connection. If you have a dual-band router, your smart device may automatically connect to the 5 GHz wifi instead, which means it cannot communicate with the LED strip. If this happens, disable the 5 GHz wifi in your router during the installation and try again.
  • The app needs access to your smart device’s location services. Make sure you have allowed access to location services while using the app.
• The connection to the LED strip was lost.
  • If you recently changed to a new router or renamed your network, you need to reinstall the LED strip again. Remove the product connection to your app by following the “Factory reset” instructions.
  • Follow the “Connect to app” instructions to connect the LED strip to your home network.

Safety information

• The product is for indoor use only.
• Use the LED strip with the provided control unit and power cord only.
• Check the strip, control unit and power adapter for damage regularly. If any part is damaged, do not use the LED strip.
• Keep the LED strip and the control unit away from moisture, water, high temperatures, and direct and strong sunlight.
• The LEDs cannot be replaced.
• Never attempt to disassemble the product. Repairs should only be performed by a qualified technician. By repairing it yourself there is a risk of electric shock  and/or short circuit.
• Do not touch or handle the LED strip or any of it’s accessories with wet hands.
