Use

Mounting
You can place the camera on a table, shelf or use the included screws and plugs to mount the camera to a wall or ceiling. Drill holes using the included alignment sticker as a guide. Insert plugs into the drilled holes suitable for the surface or use the included plugs. Run the cable through the cable notch in the camera base plate. Attach the camera by aligning the camera base plate holes to the drilled holes in the surface, insert the included screws and tighten them.

Note! If the camera is to be mounted outdoors it must be mounted with the speaker facing downwards to avoid water and moisture entering the camera.

Connections
Connect the DC power adapter to the DC power connector on the camera. Use the included weather proofing covers over the connectors if you are installing it outside. Connect the DC power adapter to a wall socket. The LED indicator lights up blue when it is starting up, changes to orange when is on and starts flashing orange when the camera is ready to be paired with the “Smart life” app. If the wifi signal is too weak you can connect an ethernet cable to the LAN-port of the camera and your router.

Connect to app

  1. Find and install the app ‘Smart Life – Smart living’ on App Store or Google Play.

  2. Register an account in the app or log in to an existing one. Activate location services on your smart device. Make sure your smart device is connected to your 2.4 GHz wifi.

  3. Press “+” or” Add device” in the app. Go to “Camera & Lock” – and select “Smart Camera (Wi-fQ”. Confirm that the LED indicator is flashing. If you are using the “Smart life – Smart living” account for the first time, enter the details for your 2.4 GHz wifi.
Note! If the LED indicator is not flashing, follow the instructions for “Factory reset” and repeat this step.

  4. Face the camera toward the QR code that is displayed in the app on your smart device, wait until the camera emits a sound 3 times and confirm it in the app.

  5. A prompt displays on your smart device to confirm the connection was successful.

Note! The pairing procedure might change due to regular app updates. If the instruction does not correspond with the app interface, please visit www.kjell.com/51493 -> “Support” for updated instructions.

In the app you can take snapshots of the current camera view, manually start a recording as well as see previous recordings saved to the Micro SD card. In the app you can also flip the image orientation if the camera has been mounted upside down. The camera is equipped with a speaker that can be used for two-way audio. Press the microphone icon to transmit sound from your device to the camera speaker. You can also activate an alarm signal to fend off intruders. To set up scheduled recording and access more settings, press the button in the upper right-hand corner of the camera panel in the app.

Connect to voice assistant

Factory reset
Lift the rubber cover on the back of the camera, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. The LED indicator lights up orange when the reset is completed and flashes orange when it’s ready to connect to app.

Note! If you want to install the camera in another wifi network, you have to disconnect it from the current wifi and remove it from the app. Select the camera on the app’s home screen, then press the symbol in the upper right-hand corner. At the bottom of the page, press “Remove Device”.

Troubleshooting

The camera cannot connect to the app.
Make sure your smart device is connected to a 2.4 GHz wifi with a stable connection. If you have a dual-band router, your smart device may automatically connect to the 5 GHz wifi instead, which means it cannot communicate with the camera. If this happens, disable the 5 GHz wifi in your router during the installation and try again. The app needs access to your smart device’s location services. Make sure you have allowed access to location services while using the app.

The connection to the camera was lost.
If you recently changed to a new router or renamed your network, you need to reinstall the camera again. Remove the product connection to your app by following the “Factory reset” instructions. Follow the “Connect to app” instructions to add the camera to your home network.

Safety information

Don’t open or modify the device in any way, this should only be done by a qualified technician due to the risk of electric shocks and/or short circuit. The mains plug is used as the disconnect device, therefore the mains plug shall remain readily operable.
