Attach the Release Paddle

  1. Position the Release Paddle onto the Worksurface. Right hand Paddle can only be mounted on the right side, and the left hand paddle can only be mounted on the left hand side. They are not interchangeable.
Humanscale Worksurface – Align the mounting holes with the corresponding pilot holes on the worksurface. If you ordered a left-hand paddle, use the designated Left-hand hole pattern and vice versa (1a).
Your own Worksurface – Position the Paddle 1” (25 mm) back from Front edge of the Worksurface and 2-1/4” (60 mm) over from the inside of the Wing Bracket (1b). Note: Follow the same dimensions if you ordered a left-hand paddle.
CAUTION: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN SCREWS WHEN MOUNTING THE RELEASE PADDLE.

Set up work-station

Move the table into location. Set up the components of your workstation, including monitor(s), monitor support, computer, keyboard, etc.

Before operation, you must add workstation components to the worksurface weighing a minimum of 30 lbs (13.5 kg) and a maximum of 130 lbs (60 kg).

To use and calibrate the float table proceed to the next section.

Using and Calibrating Float

Inside Float is a unique spring–powered counter–balance mechanism. When properly calibrated for the weight of the desktop and its contents, you will be able to raise and lower the worksurface with ease.

To Raise and Lower Worksurface

  1. Squeeze and hold the Release Paddle.
  2. Raise and lower the worksurface to your desired height. If table does not raise up and down with ease, you will need to calibrate your float.
    To Raise and Lower Worksurface

Adjusting Counter-balance Tension

When you add/remove components from the worksurface, you may need to calibrate the counter balance mechanism.

If the worksurface is difficult to lift, increase the tension.
If the worksurface is difficult to lower, decrease the tension.

WARNING: Float will support a maximum weight of 130 lbs.(60 kg), including the worksurface. Please contact Customer Service for information about our Float Heavy Duty kit which will increase capacity to 160 lbs. (70 kg).

With Mounted Tension Adjuster Handle

  1. If you have a Mounted Tension Adjuster Handle, unfold the handle.
  2. Rotate your Mounted Tension Adjuster Handle. Working in increments using the indicator window as a reference until your table adjusts with ease. Rotating clock-wise increases the tension (2a) and rotating counter clock-wise decreases the tension (2b).

Pay attention to the red needle in the Indicator Window to ensure that you do not adjust the tension beyond the Min or Max markings.

Without Mounted Tension Adjuster Handle

  1. Insert the hex drive end of the Tension Adjuster Handle into the Tension Adjustment Screw.
  2. Rotate your Tension Adjuster Handle. Working in increments using the indicator window as a reference until your table adjusts with ease. Rotating clock-wise increases the tension (2a) and rotating counter clock-wise decreases the tension (2b).

Troubleshooting Float

Difficulty unlocking the worksurface with the Release Paddle

  1. Squeeze the Release Paddle while gently pushing down, or pulling up on the worksurface.

Paddle

  2. Check the barrel adjuster where the cable exits the back of the Release Paddle If the cable is too loose the Release paddle will not function properly when squeezed. Turn the barrel adjuster counter–clockwise (2a) until there is between 3/4” (20 mm) and 1/2” (12 mm) of metal thread exposed (2b)

Tension is adjusted towards the max but the surface is still difficult to raise

If your Float is adjusted so that the Indicator Window is showing the needle at the 3/4 position or higher, and the Float is still very difficult to raise, please contact Customer Service. They will give you information about our Float Heavy Duty kit which can be installed to increase the weight capacity from 130 lbs. (60 kg) to 160 lbs. (70 kg).
