General Information

The PROmesh B28-RL is a full-managed Ethernet/PROFINET switch for industrial automation systems which can be easily and conveniently configured via a web UI. It enables uncomplicated installation of bus, star and ring structures with switching functionality

Safety Instructions

Before putting the PROmesh B28-RL into operation, check whether it is in perfect condition externally. Always observe the technical specifications of the device to ensure safe and optimal use. The PROmesh B28-RL is designed for IP30 protection environments. Take appropriate measures to ensure proper operation of the unit in a different environment.

WARNING
In case of suspected damage, please return the PROmesh B28-RL immediately to your supplier and do not put it into operation. Do not open the housing under any circumstances. Unauthorized opening of the housing will void any warranty claims. The PROmesh B28-RL is designed for use in PROFINET applications according to Conformance Class A. For complete support of the PROFINET standards, please also observe the selection, layout and wiring of the data ports according to these standards.

Mounting steps

This product is suitable for rack mounting
Step 1:
Select the device mounting location to ensure enough space.
Step 2:
Adopt 4 bolts to install the mounting lugs in the device position as figure below.

Place the device in the Rack; adopt 4 bolts to fix the two sides mounting lugs in the rack.

Check and confirm the product is mounted firmly on the rack, mounting ends.

Disassembling the device

Step 1
Turn off the power of the device.
Step 2
Adopt screw driver to loosen the 4 bolts fixed on the mounting lugs in the rack.
Step 3
Shift out the device from the rack, disassembling ends.

WARNING
Do not mount the PROmesh B28-RL directly next to devices that generate strong electromagnetic interference fields or constantly emit heat to their surroundings. Also protect the PROmesh B28-RL from intense sunlight.

Power Supply

The PROmesh B28-RL is provided with a redundant power supply. The connections are additionally secured with a power button. Connect the PROmesh B28-RL to the power supply via the power supply adapter. Then switch on the device via the power switch.

Note
First, plug the power supply terminal block into the power supply connector of the device. Then plug the power supply terminal block. Power switch:“-“ means power ON, „O“ means power OFF. If the external power supply is correctly connected and activated, all status LEDs of the PROmesh B28-RL will light up briefly. After a short initialization phase the LEDs go out and the device is ready for operation and can now be configured in the network.

Configuring a Network Connection

Download the Service Tool to your client PC (Windows). You can find the software at the following link: www.indu-sol.com/en/servicetool

NOTE
Our software is updated regularly. Please, make sure you are using the latest version. Connect the PC to a suitable data line on one of the data ports (P1 – 28). The PROmesh B28-RL and the client PC must be located in the same IP address range and IP subnet. For this you have to assign a corresponding IP address to your PROmesh B28-RL for the first time. Use the already installed ServiceTool. After assigning a suitable IP address and subnet mask, the Web UI of the PROmesh B28-RL can be reached.
The PROmesh B28-RL is delivered with the following factory settings:

Passwort admin123

After successful installation and start of the software, you can scan the system with the search setting PROmesh B28. The PROmesh B28-RL is displayed in the search result. You can then make and save individual entries in the input mask.

Note
Make sure that the IP address you selected has not yet been assigned. If required, you can display IP addresses that have already been assigned using the PROscan® Active V2 license software from Indu-Sol.

Warning
When logging in for the first time, you must change the factory-set password. It is your responsibility to document this password and protect it against unauthorized access

Accessing the Web User Interface

The device-specific functions of the PROmesh B28-RL can be configured via an integrated Web-UI. Open your browser, enter the IP address of the PROmesh B28-RL configured in the ServiceTool in your browser bar or use the above configuration data. Alternatively, you can right-click on the corresponding list entry in the context menu of the ServiceTool to select „to website“. The Web UI now opens in your standard browser.

Restore Factory Setting
RESET is restoring default settings button.Device Restoring defaultsettings steps as follows: press and hold the RESET button, power on the device again, wait for about 3~4 seconds to restore the factory settings.

Interpreting LED Displays

Off Voltage at terminal insufficient

Status On The system is not operating normally
Flashing The system is working correctly
Off The system does not start correctly
Alert On There is an alarm (power supply or port connection)
Off There is no error.
Port Status On The port has established a valid network connection
Flashing The port is in network communication exchange
Off The port has not established a valid network connection
