The UF-LOCO requires Linux, Mac OS X, or Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 operating
systems. The web browser required for the device is Google Chrome (other
browsers may have limited functionality).
Before Starting:
Designing and deploying a GPON network requires specific planning and knowledge. For more information on designing and installing a GPON network, Network. To configure UFiber devices for the first time to allow the Optical Network Unit (ONU) LAN ports to provide connectivity.
Product Usage Instructions
Hardware Installation
The UF-LOCO can be wall-mounted using the wall-mount bracket and screws provided in the package. Follow the steps below:
- Attach the wall mount bracket to the UF-LOCO using the screws provided.
- Use the screw plugs to fix the bracket to the wall.
- Slide the UF-LOCO onto the bracket until it clicks into place.
- Connect the fiber patch cables to the GPON SC/APC port and LAN Ethernet port.
Fiber Connection
When connecting the fiber patch cables, follow the below instructions:
- Never look directly into the ends of the fiber or modules. The light they emit can cause eye damage.
- Until ready to use, keep fiber patch cables and modules covered with the included protective caps to ensure connections remain clean.
- DO NOT connect the device directly to a UFiber GPON module (UF-GP-B+ or UF-GP-C+). Doing so will damage the optics of the device. Make sure that the signal level received by the device never exceeds -8 dBm. Use a UFiber PLC splitter to add attenuation as needed.
LAN and Power Connection:
The RJ45 Ethernet LAN port supports 10/100/1000 Mbps connections and 24V passive PoE to power the device. Follow the below instructions to connect:
- Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the LAN port of the UF-LOCO and another end to a port switch that meets the power specifications listed in the quick start guide.
- Connect the Micro-USB power adapter to the power port of the device and plug it into a power outlet.
LED Signal Indicators
The LED signal indicators on the UF-LOCO provide information about the device’s connectivity status. The indicators are as follows:
- Start: The LED is disabled.
- Signal strength: too low < -28 dBm
- No signal: The LED is disabled.
- No ethernet connection: The LED is disabled.
- With Ethernet connection: The LED is white.
- No authority: The device has not been authorized or cannot communicate with the OLT. Check passwords and OLT settings.
- Power LEDs: The LED is white when switched on and off when disabled.
Note : The airCube provides Wi-Fi connectivity with a PoE gateway, making it the ideal complement to the UF-LOCO in CPE installations.
