Installation
Important: Handle the airFiber X Antenna with care.
Deformations in its reflector may reduce the antenna’s effectiveness.
-
Attach the airFiber X radio to the antenna by aligning the four tabs on the back of the radio with the slots of the radio mount. Then slide the radio down to lock it into place.
-
Attach the RF connectors to the radio in this combination: +45° to Chain 0 and -45° to Chain 1. Then slide the jackets over the RF connectors to protect them.
-
Attach the external GPS antenna (included with the radio) to the RF connector labeled GPS on the radio.
-
Attach the Protective Shroud by sliding it down over the radio until it locks into the radio mount.
-
Insert the U-Bolt through the slots of the Mount Bracket.
-
Fasten the U-Bolt to the Mount Bracket with the Cable Tie.
-
Secure the Mount Bracket to the antenna using the four Hex Bolts with Washer Set.
-
Position the antenna at the desired location on the pole and secure it:
a. Slide the Clamp Bracket over the U-Bolt.
b. Fasten one Flange Nut on each end of the U-Bolt.
Note: The mounting assembly can accommodate a Ø 38 – 64 mm pole.
Aligning the Antenna
Optimize the airFiber link by adjusting one end of the link at a time. Refer
to the airFiber X radio Quick Start Guide for additional details.
-
Adjust the azimuth and aim the antenna toward the other end of the link:
a. Loosen the two Flange Nuts on the U-Bolt.
b. Rotate the antenna to point towards the other end of the link.
c. Tighten the two Flange Nuts. -
The elevation angle may be adjusted ±15°. Adjust the elevation angle:
a. Loosen the four Hex Bolts on both sides of the antenna.
b. Pivot the antenna to the desired elevation.
c. Tighten the four Hex Bolts. -
Repeat steps 1 and 2 as needed to optimize the link.
-
Once the link is optimized, lock the aim:
a. Tighten all bolts and nuts to approximately 25 N-m.
b. Fasten the two Hex Nuts to the U-Bolt to prevent the Flange Nuts from loosening.
