CAUTION
THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONSSHOULDBETHOROUGHLY UNDERSTOOD BEFORE ATTEMPTINGTOBEGIN ASSEMBLING THIS MACHINE
- Select an area for assembly that is clean and free of any debris which might causepersons working on the assembly to trip.
- Do not lift heavy parts or assemblies. Use crane, jack, tackle, fork trucksor othermechanical devices.
- Preview the assembly instructions in your operator’s manual before proceedingfurther.
- If the assembly instructions call for parts or assemblies to be blocked up, useonlyblocks material that is good condition and is capable of handing the weight of theassembly to be blocked. Also insure that the blocking material is on aclean, drysurface.
- Never put hands, or any part of body, under blocked up assemblies if at all possible.
- After completing assembly, thoroughly inspect the machine to be sure that all nuts, bolts, hydraulic fittings or any other fastened assemblies have been thoroughlytightened.
- Before operating the machine, thoroughly read the operation sectionof youroperator’s manual.
- Before operating, read the machine section of your operator’s manual to besurethat any parts requiring lubrication, such as gearbox, to avoid any possible damage.
- Before operating equipment – if you have any questions regarding theproperassembly or operation, contact you dealer or representative.
EQUIPMENT SAFETY GUIDELINES
- Never use alcoholic beverages or drugs which can hinder alertness or coordinationwhile operating this equipment. Consult your doctor about operating this machinewhile taking prescription medications.
- Review the safety instructions with all users annually.
- This equipment is dangerous to children and persons unfamiliar with its operation. Theoperator should be a responsible adult familiar with farm machinery and trainedinthisequipment’s operations. Do not allow persons to operate or assemblethisunituntil they have read this manual and have developed a thorough understandingof the safety precautions and of how works.
- Never exceed the limits of a piece of machinery.
- Do not modify the equipment in any way. Unauthorized modification may impair thefunction and could affect the life of equipment
OPERATIONAL SAFETY
- The use of this equipment is subject to certain hazards which cannot beprotectedagainst by mechanical means or product design. All operators of this equipment must read and understand this entire manual, paying particular attention to operating, priorto using. If there is something in this manual you do not understand, askyoursupervisor, or your dealer, to explain it to you.
- Personal protection equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, andgloves are recommended during assembly.
- Never permit any person other than the operator to ride or board thetractor orimplement at any time. Never allow anyone to ride on the implement!
- A heavy load can cause instability in driving a tractor. Make sure the front or rear of thetractor is properly counter-balanced with weights, Always drive slowly-especiallyaround turns. An unstable tractor could steer badly and possibly tip over, causinginjury or death.
- Most accidents occur because of neglect or carelessness. Keep all helpersandbystanders at a safe distance.
- Use stabilizer bars, adjustable sway chains, or sway blocks on your tractor lift armstokeep the rear blade from swinging side to side. Adjust as tightly as practical for best performance.
- Do not operate close to ditches or creeks. Slow down when operating over roughground.
- When adjusting the angle of the moldboard assembly, be sure that your feet areneverunder the rear blade.
- Be careful to avoid catching the rear blade on stumps or other immovable objects.
MAINTENANCE SAFETY
- Keep all persons away from operator control area while performing adjustments, service, or maintenance.
- Periodically tighten all bolts, nuts and screws and check that all cotter pinsareproperly installed to ensure unit is in a safe condition.
- Never use your hands to locate a hydraulic leak on attachments. Use a small pieceof cardboard or wood.
- Never replace hex bolts with less than grade five bolts unless otherwisespecified. Refer to bolt torque chart for head identification marking.
STORAGE SAFETY
- Store the unit in an area away from human activity. Do not permit children toplayonoraround the stored unit.
- Make sure all parked machines are on a hard, level surface and engageall safetydevices.
- At the end of the working season or when the box blade will not be usedfor alongperiod, it is good practice to clean off any dirt or grease that may have accumulatedonthe blade and any of the moving parts.
- Inspect the blade for loose, damaged or worn parts and adjust or replace if needed.
- Repaint parts where paint is worn or scratched to prevent rust.
- Store box blade in a clean, dry place.
