  2. Use the supplied mains cable to connect the appliance to the mains socket.

Operation

STARTING THE APPLIANCE

  1. Make sure the appliance is plugged in.
  2. Rotate the thermostat knob to setting 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 to start the appliance.

THERMOSTAT SETTING

The thermostat automatically regulates the temperature inside the cooler and freezer compartments. By rotating the thermostat knob from position 1 to 5, colder temperatures can be obtained.

Note: Rotating the thermostat knob beyond position 1 to “●” will switch off the appliance.

Thermostat settings

  • 1 – 2: for short-term storage of food
  • 3 – 4: for long-term storage of food
  • 5: maximum cooling position. The appliance will work longer to reach colder temperatures. If required, change the temperature setting.
  1. Set the thermostat (C) on setting 3.
    • The appliance cools continuously until the set temperature is reached.
  2. Do not place anything in the appliance until the set temperature is reached. This usually takes 2 to 3 hours.
  3. If required, change the temperature setting and place food into the appliance.

Super freezing

For maximum freezing capacity, turn on the switch when placing fresh food. After placing fresh food in the freezer, 24 hours with the super freeze switch on is generally sufficient.

  1. Set the switch (A) to position 1.
    • In order to save energy, please turn off the switch after 24 hours from placing the fresh food.

  2. After the water has completely turned into ice, you can twist the tray as shown to get the ice cubes out of the tray.

FOOD STORAGE

Note

  • The ambient air temperature, how often the door is opened and the position of the appliance can affect the internal temperature. These factors must be taken into account when setting the thermostat.
  • A 5 minute delaying function is applied to prevent damage to the compressor of the appliance, when the plug is briefly taken out or when a power failure occurs. The appliance will start to operate normally after 5 minutes.

Refrigerator compartment

  • To reduce humidity and avoid formation of frost, always store liquids in sealed containers in the refrigerator.
  • Cooked dishes must remain covered when they are kept in the refrigerator. Do not place warm foods in the appliance. Place them when they are cool, otherwise the temperature/ humidity inside will increase, reducing the efficiency of the appliance.
  • Do not place items in direct contact with the rear wall of the appliance as frost will develop and the packaging will stick to it. Do not open the door frequently.
  • We recommend that meat and clean fish are loosely wrapped and stored on the glass shelf just above the vegetable drawer where the air is cooler, as this provides the best storage conditions.
  • Store loose fruits and vegetable items in the vegetable drawer.
  • Do not put wet vegetables in the refrigerator.
  • Storage time for all food products depends on the initial quality of the food and an uninterrupted refrigeration cycle before storing it in the appliance.
  • Fluids leaking from meat may contaminate other products in the appliance. You should package meat products and clean any leakages on the shelves.
  • Do not put hot food in the appliance immediately, leave it to cool outside. Hot food increases the temperature of the appliance and could cause food poisoning and unnecessary spoiling of the food.
  • To prevent cross contamination, meat products and fruit/ vegetables are not stored together.
  • Food should be placed in closed containers or covered to prevent moisture and odors.
  • Never store volatile, inflammable or explosive fluids such as alcohol, acetone or petrol in the appliance, because of the risk of explosion.

Freezer compartment

  • Do not freeze too large an amount of food at one time; the faster the food is frozen, the longer it preserves its qualities.
  • Food in liquid form should be frozen in plastic containers, and other food should be frozen in plastic foils or bags. For freezing fresh food: wrap and seal fresh food properly, that is, the packaging should be airtight and shouldn’t leak. Special freezer bags, aluminum foil, polythene bags and plastic containers are ideal.
  • Do not store fresh food next to frozen food as it can thaw the frozen food.
  • Consume thawed frozen food within a short period of time after defrosting.
  • Do not refreeze thawed food. It may cause a danger to your health and cause problems such as food poisoning.
  • Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the food packaging when storing frozen food. If no information is provided, food should not be stored for more than 3 months from the purchase date.
  • When purchasing frozen food, make sure that it has been stored under appropriate conditions and that the packaging is not damaged.
  • Frozen food should be transported in appropriate containers and placed in the freezer as soon as possible.
  • Do not purchase frozen food if the packaging shows signs of humidity and abnormal swelling. It is probable that it has been stored at an unsuitable temperature and that the contents have deteriorated.
  • The storage life of frozen food depends on the room temperature, the thermostat setting, how often the door is opened, the type of food, and the length of time required to transport the product from the shop to your home. Always follow the instructions printed on the packaging and never exceed the maximum storage life indicated.
  • Do not store glass bottles or containers with liquids in the freezer. The freezing may cause the glass to break. Highly carbonated drinks can even explode. Never keep lemonade, beer, wine, champagne, etc. in the freezer.
  • In case of a power failure or malfunction, the freezer compartment will maintain a sufficiently low temperature for food storage. However, avoid opening the door to slow down the temperature rise within the appliance.
