before first use

Before you use the appliance for the first time, please do as follows: Carefully unpack the appliance and remove all the packaging material. Keep the material (plastic bags and cardboard) out of reach of children. Check the appliance after unpacking for any damage, possible from transportation. Place the appliance on a stable and heat resistant surface. The minimum water filling volume is 0.5 litres. The maximum filling volume is 1.7 litres. Prior to use, the appliance must be filled to the maximum twice and the water must be brought to the boil twice. Throw away the boiled water and rinse the appliance with cold water. The appliance is now ready for use. The water cooker is only suitable for boiling and heating water. Never fill the water cooker with milk, tea, coffee or other instant drinks.

heating or boiling water

Check that the voltage stated on the information plate matches the voltage used in your region. Place the connection base on a flat, stable surface. Insert the plug in an earthed wall socket. Place the water cooker on the base. If necessary, excess cord can be stored in the bottom of the connection base by rolling up the cord.

  1. Open the lid by pressing the button.
  2. Fill the water cooker with the required volume of water and close the lid by pressing it close.
  3. Place the water cooker on the connection base and make sure the plug is in the socket.
  4. Press the on/off key once, to boil the water.
  5. In order to heat the water to the required temperature, press the + / – key to select the required temperature (50-70-80-90°C). Then press the on/off key once more to heat the water to the set temperature.
  6. The water cooker switches off automatically once the water boils or reaches the set temperature.

Caution: never switch on the water cooker when it contains no water. If, by accident, the water cooker is switched on without water in it, the boil dry safeguard switches off the water cooker automatically. In this case, remove the water cooker from the connection base and allow it to cool down for a few minutes. Then you can fill the water cooker and switch it on again. Make sure the lid of the water cooker is placed correctly. If this is not the case, the water cooker will not switch off automatically when the water boils and will continue to boil the water.

heat mode

If required, the heat mode can be switched on, so that the water cooker keeps the water at the set temperature (50-70-80-90°C) for a period of 30 minutes. In order to activate the heat mode, observe the steps in section 4. Instead of briefly pressing the on/ off key, you must now press the on/ off key for 2 seconds. The water cooker now heats the water to the set temperature and keeps it hot for 30 minutes. Once the temperature is reached, the LED light continues to burn to indicate that the heat mode is activated. After 30 minutes, the water cooker switches off automatically and the water will cool. When the water cooker is removed from the base, it automatically switches off completely.

switching the water cooker off

The water cooker switches off automatically once the set temperature is reached. It is also possible to switch off the water cooker at any time by means of the on/off key. When the water cooker is taken off the connection base while boiling, the water cooker will also switch off.

Caution! It is possible that a little condensed water remains on the edge of the connection base. This is normal and does not affect the function of the water cooker.

de-scaling

Scale may occur on the inside of the water cooker. If you have hard water, it may be necessary to de-scale the water cooker occasionally. Use a suitable de- scaling agent for water cookers/coffee machines and observe the accompanying instructions. You can also de-scale the water cooker with lemon juice. The lemon acid in this juice will make sure that the scale is removed. This natural method prevents the use of chemicals. Fill half the water cooker with hot water. Add the juice of half a lemon. Boil the water and then allow the water to cool down for 30 minutes. Throw away the boiled water and rinse the water cooker once more. Never clean the appliance with cleaning agents. These could damage your water cooker. In order to remove the anti-scale filter from the water cooker for cleaning, you must take the water cooker from the connection base and allow it to cool down. Do not remove the anti-scale filter from the water cooker if it is still hot or filled with water. Pull the anti- scale filter loose towards the rear, away from the spout, and clean it with hot water. When placing back the filter, make sure it is properly attached to the spout. First place the point of the anti-scale filter and then you can press tight the anti-scale filter at the top by means of the clamp. Never place the anti-scale filter loose in the water cooker.

cleaning & maintenance

Regularly clean the water cooker for optimum performance. Never submerge the water cooker and connection base in water and/or other liquids. Before cleaning, always remove the plug from the socket and allow the water cooker to cool down. Regularly wipe the outside with a moist cloth. Never use detergents or abrasive cleaning agents!
