before the first use

Before you use the appliance for the first time, please do as follows: Carefully unpack the appliance and remove all the packaging material. Keep the material (plastic bags and cardboard) out of reach of children. Check the appliance after unpacking for any visible damage, possible from transportation. Place the appliance on a stable and heat resistant surface.
Clean the main unit and the water reservoir with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Clean the cover and the egg tray with warm water and a mild detergent. Make sure the cover and the egg tray are dry before placing them.
There can be some smoke and smell when using it for the first time. Residues left over from the manufacturing process are being burned on the surface of the unit.

for your safety

The egg boiler heats up water. This creates steam which emits from the cover. Therefore do not touch the cover and the main unit during use.
This egg boiler can boil up to 7 eggs per cooking session. Use fresh eggs.
Make sure the water reservoir does not overflow.
This appliance is suitable only for boiling eggs. Please do not try to heat up anything else with this appliance.
Do not operate the appliance without the cover and the egg tray.

boiling eggs

  • Place the main unit on a stable heat resistant surface.

  • Place the egg tray on the main unit.

  • Make a tiny hole in the small end of the egg using the egg pecker. Please do not use force, otherwise the egg might break.
Caution, danger of injury: The needle of the egg pecker is very sharp!

  • Please put in the bigger end of the egg into the egg tray.

  • Now fill the water reservoir with the required quantity of cold, clear water using the measuring cup. The quantity of water depends upon the number of eggs to be boiled and the hardness desired (soft, medium or hard boiled). There are three scales on the measuring cup showing how much water to use.
    Scale 1 – soft| Cooking time approx. 5 min.
    ---|---
    Scale 2 – medium| Cooking time approx. 10 min.
    Scale 3 – hard| Cooking time approx. 15 min.

Example: If you want to make four soft-boiled eggs, fill the measuring cup with water up to the marking 4 on scale 1. Measure the water very secure to get the proper cooking.

  • Now pour the water from the measuring cup into the water reservoir. Take care not to spill any water on the housing of the main unit!

  • Cover the egg tray with the cover. Please ensure that egg tray and cover fit properly on the main unit.

  • Put the switch I/O in position O (= Unit off ).

  • Plug in the appliance and put the switch I/O in position I. The indicator lamp in the switch I/O lights up.
The hot plate on the main unit begins to heat up the water in the water reservoir.
Caution: parts of the unit become very hot during and after use! While the unit is in use, touch it only at the handles. Please watch out particularly for hot water and emitted steam!
Burning hazard: Do not shift the unit while it is in use. The water is boiling and hot steam escapes through the steam opening. The cover must not be taken off while eggs are being boiled. Or the steam would escape immediately and the eggs will not be boiled properly.

  • When the water in the water reservoir has all evaporated, the eggs are done. An audible signal is emitted. The indicator lamp in the switch I/O goes off. The hot plate on the main unit now starts cooling down.

  • Put the switch I/O in position O. The audible signal discontinues. Remove the plug from the socket.

  • Please lift up cover from the appliance carefully. Hold it by the handle!

  • Remove the egg tray from the appliance by the handle. Help the eggs shrink by holding them under cold, flowing water. The eggs are now ready to serve.

  • Please put back the egg tray after drying it with a piece of cloth.

tips

  • The number of eggs and the size influence the cooking time.
  • The cooking result is affected when the eggs are too cold. The eggs can be boiled too soft.
  • The temperature and the amount of water affect the cooking time. Therefore measure the correct amount of water carefully and use cold water.

cleaning & maintenance

Always unplug the appliance before cleaning and let it cool down completely.
Clean the cover and the egg tray with water and some dishwashing liquid. Make sure the cover and the egg tray are dried thoroughly before placing them back.
Use a damp cloth and if necessary some dishwashing liquid to clean the main unit and the water reservoir. Dry everything thoroughly. Make sure no water gets in the main unit.
Egg shells contain a lot of calcium salts. The salt can deposit in the water reservoir, unless it is cleaned regularly. This calcium salt can be white or brown. Therefore clean and dry the water reservoir after every use.
When there is a lot of calcium in the water reservoir which cannot be removed with a damp cloth, descale the appliance.

Decalcification of the water reservoir: To do this, pour a little household vinegar into the measuring cup. Fill it up with water and pour the mixture in the water reservoir. Leave it for 30 minutes. Attention: please do not boil the mixture in the appliance.
Pour the mixture out and dry the watr reservoir.
