Important Safety Advice

This manual offers instructions on safe handling, operation and maintenance of the device, as well as detailed information of installation and setup. Please always consult the documentation for any battery you intend to use in combination with this charger. Please read this manual carefully before installing or operating your ECTIVE Multiload Pro.

To prevent injury and to avoid damage to electrical equipment, please adhere to the following safety advice before operating the device, as well as any documentation accompanying your batteries.

  • The installation and maintenance of this device should be performed only by a qualified service technician. There are high voltages inside the device. Incorrect installation, use or maintenance may result in fire or electric shocks. There are no user serviceable parts inside the device.
  • Before servicing or installing the device, disconnect all other devices or batteries from the Multiload Pro.
  • Working near batteries is dangerous, as batteries produce explosive gases during normal operation! To reduce the risk of a battery explosion, follow the instructions in this manual as well as the instructions from the battery manufacturer.
  • When working near lead-acid batteries, be sure to have someone within shouting distance to come to your aid if necessary.
  • Ensure access to plenty of fresh water and soap in case battery acid comes into contact with skin, eyes or clothing.
  • Wear complete eye protection and protective clothing when working near batteries. Avoid touching your eyes.
  • In case battery acid comes into contact with skin or clothing, wash immediately with soap and water. If acid enters an eye, immediately flush the eye with running cold water for at least 10 minutes and immediately seek medical attention.
  • Never smoke near batteries. Avoid sparks and open flames.
  • Do not allow metal objects to drop onto or bump against a battery, as this might produce sparks or short circuit the battery or another electrical device. This could result in a fire or explosion.
  • Remove any metallic items from your body such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches. If such objects come into contact with the battery terminals, this may cause short circuit currents high enough to melt the item and cause severe burns.
Installation & Charging
  • Never charge a frozen battery.
  • Ensure that the battery is placed in a well-ventilated environment.
  • Flooded batteries: Check the battery acid levels and add distilled water to each cell unit if necessary to fill it up to the specified level. This helps purge excessive gas from the cells. Do not overfill the cells. Carefully follow the refilling instructions supplied by the battery manufacturer.
  • Prior to use, the device must be properly installed as described in these instructions.
  • In case of a failure, a battery charger may produce sparks or electric arcs. Therefore, never install the device in the battery or engine compartment of your vehicle or near any source of explosive gases.
  • Protect all wiring from physical damage, vibration, water and excessive heat.
  • Ensure that the unit is properly set up for the type of battery intended to be charged.
  • Do not expose the device to rain, snow or high levels of humidity.
  • Ensure that all terminating connections are clean and tight to prevent arcing and overheating.
  • Do not adjust any functions of the Multiload Pro, including current, voltage and battery type, while the device is running. Any adjustments must be made when the device is disconnected.

Installation and Operation

Caution!

Before connecting the Multiload Pro to a battery, power off the device.

DC Output Battery Connection

Always connect the battery first and the AC Power second.

Step 1

Place the battery cable ring terminal over the Multiload Pro’s battery terminal. Be sure to follow to the battery polarity indicated next to the terminals. Tighten the M6*12 Screw. Do not place anything between the flat part of the battery terminal and the battery cable ring terminal, as otherwise overheating may occur. Apply anti-oxidant paste to the terminals after they have been torqued.

Installation and Operation

Step 2
Connect the battery cables to your batteries.

Single battery connection: When using a single battery, its voltage must be equal to the voltage of the Multiload Pro’s nominal input voltage.

Series battery connection: When using multiple batteries in series, all batteries must have the same voltage and Ah capacity. The sum of their voltages must be equal to the Multiload Pro’s nominal input voltage.

Parallel battery connection: When using multiple batteries in parallel, each battery’ voltage must be equal to the voltage of the Multiload Pro’s nominal input voltage.

AC Input Connection: Use the provided AC cable and a breaker (minimum 10A).
Parallel Connection: To achieve higher charging currents, two Multiload Pro devices may be connected in a parallel configuration.

Environmental Conditions

Operating temperature| Nominal ambient temperature: 25°C Operating ambient temperature range: -10°C to 40°C
If the temperature rises above 90°C, the charge current will be reduced to 50%; if the temperature rises above 105°C, the device will automatically turn off
---|---
Relative humidity| 5 to 95% without condensation
Storage conditions| -20°C to 80°C
Device cooling| Smart fan
Safety| UL458, CSA22 2#107 1
Noise during operation| Below 50dB (A) measured at 1m distance while fan is working at full power

Protective Features

Input Over/ Under Voltage| When the voltage is within the input voltage range, the device operates safely If the input voltage is outside this range, the device may automatically limit the input current or shut down
---|---
Reverse Battery Polarity| Non-destructive reverse protection with fuses The device will not sustain damage and normal operation is possible after replacing the fuses
Output Over Voltage| Device will shut down if the charging voltage exceeds the target charging voltage + 1 0VDC/1 5VDC for more than 2 seconds If the voltage falls below the target voltage for 2 seconds, the device will restart
Charger Over Temperature| The device automatically shuts down if the temperature exceeds 105°C It will restart if the temperature falls below 95°
Battery Temperature| The charging voltage and current are automatically adjusted based on the battery‘s temperature

If the battery temperature is above 40°C, the charging voltage is reduced to float voltage and the current is reduced by 10% with every 2 degrees of temperature in- crease At a battery temperature above 50°C, the device will automatically shut down

Main Switch
Once the Multiload Pro has been properly installed and the batteries are connected, use the switch to turn the device on. Set the switch in the appropriate position depending on whether you are charging a 12V or 24V battery. The device will automatically begin operation according to the source of the input voltage. Flip the switch to the “OFF” position to turn the device off.

BTS Port

Connect a battery temperature (e.g. ECTIVE TS 1, sold separately) sensor to this port to ensure proper charging of the batteries based on their temperature. Using a BTS will help extend battery life by preventing overcharging in warm temperatures and undercharging in cold environments.

Ground Terminal

Connect the GND to the Ground Terminal using 8 AWG wire.

Battery Connector

Connect the battery to the positive (+) battery terminal and the negative (–) battery terminal. Do not reverse the polarity!
