Basic principles

The fascia frame is fitted in front of the wall, while the block frame is fastened within the wall reveal.

Walls acc. to DIN EN 1627 ff

The required break-in-resistance can only be obtained if the adjacent walls meet the requirements according to Tab. 1 – Tab. 2.

Frame acc. to DIN EN 1627 ff

Wooden frame

Fitting instructions

Check that the individual frame parts are free of faults and complete, check the dimensions and check that screws are tight before assembling the frame.

  • Frame parts with seal (2 ×)
  • Frame part header with seal (1 ×)
  • Fittings bag (1 ×)
Check the installation situation
  • Is the wall type suited for the fitting of the door?
  • Must the finished level of the floor be considered (metre line)?
  • Is the opening sense correct?
  • Should the door open to the inside or the outside?

Do building regulations need to be observed.

Fitting and installation

Lever handle set and profile cylinder acc. to DIN EN 1627 ff

Fit the necessary protective fitting for this element acc. to DIN 18257 (minimum ES 1) or DIN EN 1906 (class 2) following the manufacturer specifications. Make sure that the lever handle does not impair the functionality of the lock. The latch engagement into the lock plate must be at least 8 mm from the lock, and the bolt engagement at least 15 mm.

Profile cylinders acc. to DIN 18252 must be regulated on-site:

  • 21-, 31-, 71-BZ for protective fitting without ZA
  • 21-, 31-, 71-BS for protective fitting with ZA or DIN EN 1303:
  • lock security class 4, attack resistance class 1

ATTENTION
Please note the normative requirements (e.g. pull-off protection, drill-proof, flush bottom edge of the closing cylinder in the outer escutcheon, etc.) for on-site regulated fittings.

  • All accessory components must be approved for break-in-resistant elements (RC2) acc. to DIN EN 1627.
Fitting certificate and factory certificate acc. to DIN EN 1627 ff

Once the fitting is completed, provide your customer with a fitting certificate stating that the door was fitted correctly. The form is enclosed. In addition, your customer receives a factory certificate. In the insured event, the factory certificate proves that the design meets the RC 3 requirement. Hand over the certificates together with the fitting instructions to your customer.

Tab. 1: Classification of the resistance classes of break-in-resistant components for solid walls

__ Resistance class of the component acc. toDIN EN 1627| Surrounding walls
---|---
In brickwork according to DIN 1053-1| Reinforced concrete walls acc.to DIN 1045
Wall thickness (unplastered)| Compression strength class of the bricks(DFK)| Apparent density class of the bricks(RDK)| Mortar group| Nominal thickness| Strength class
RC2| ≥ 115 mm| ≥ 12| –| min. MG II/DM| min. 100 mm| min. B 15

Tab. 2: Classification of the resistance classes of break-in-resistant components for gas concrete walls

Gas concrete wall

Resistance class| Compression strength classof the bricks| Nominal thickness| Version
RC2| ≥ 4| ≥ 170 mm| Bonded

Gaps acc. to DIN EN 1627 ff

The construction gaps between the door leaf and frame should comply with the following values after fitting:

  • Vertical: 3 mm, ± 1 mm
  • Lintel area: 3 mm, ± 1 mm
  • Floor area: 6 mm, ± 1 mm

Fitting by qualified personnel and warranty

The supplied products may only be fitted and put into operation by qualified personnel. We do not provide any warranty, as fitting is outside of our sphere of influence. These fitting instructions only provide recommendations, as there are several possibilities for professional and correct fitting. No legal claims can be derived from recommendations. Putting the door into operation is prohibited until it has been established that the door has been installed in accordance with our specifications and its function has been properly tested. A product’s declaration of performance becomes invalid if an alteration to the product is carried out without consultation with us. Wood is a natural product with individual characteristics and nuances. It reacts to changes in air humidity, amongst others. The door and frame should be subjected to as few fluctuations in humidity as possible. We therefore advise against fitting in rooms with more than 60% relative air humidity (take note of humidity in new buildings).

Care and maintenance

A slightly damp cloth, chamois or a lint-free microfibre cloth without using special detergents is enough to maintain the high-quality surfaces of doors and frames. This allows normal household dirt (e.g. fingerprints or water splashes) to be easily removed. Use lukewarm water with a squirt of washing-up liquid for stubborn dirt. Then dry off well. Do not use any abrasive or caustic solvent-based detergents! All important functional parts must be visually inspected on a regular basis (min. 1 × annually) for fastening and function. Identified defects (e.g. loose screws, damaged or missing seals, incorrectly set or stiff hinges) must be promptly addressed

The following minimum points should be considered each year:

  1. Hinges
    • Lightly lubricate hinge types without maintenancefree sliding bearings.
  2. Locks
    • Check the latch and bolt for ease of movement, pull the latch back if necessary and spray a little graphite oil into the latch opening.
  3. Lock plates
    • Tighten any loose screws in the lock plate, if necessary.
    • Electric door strikes are generally maintenance-free.
  4. Lever handles
    • Do not excessively tighten the screws for lever handle actuation. Only use hand screwdrivers.
  5. Frame seals
    • Replace defective seals – replacements can be purchased from specialised dealers.
  6. Bottom seal
    • The sealing function must be provided along the entire door width. Readjust the bottom seal accordingly if necessary or promptly replace defective floor seals, if required.
  7. Door closer
    • Fault-free door self-locking must be guaranteed at all times. Readjust the stop, closing force and closing speed according to the door closer manufacturer‘s fitting instructions, if necessary.

Please ask your dealer for further processing and care instructions and for certificates and verifications.
