BASICS
- Which app do I use?
Your new Wi-Fi bulb(s) work with the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app, which looks like this:
Please take care to download the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app, and not the SYLVANIA Smart Home app. The Smart Home app will not work with this bulb.

Which voice assistants does this bulb support?
Currently, this bulb supports Amazon Alexa, Siri Shortcuts, and Hey Google and can work with all three simultaneously. For example, you may turn on your light with Alexa, and off with Hey Google. -
Can I control it when I’m not at home?
Yes, you can remotely control your light when not at home, using the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app.

CONNECT WI-FI LIGHTS TO ALEXA

Open the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app

If you already have a SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi
Account, log in with your existing account. Otherwise, tap the Register button to create a new account -
Tap the + symbol on the top right corner of the screen

At this point, power on the device.
Within a few moments, a prompt will appear. Tap on Go to add.

If paired successfully you will see the following screen. Tap Voice Control to begin linking your SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi Account to Alex

Tap Amazon Alexa to link your SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi account to Alexa. Please note this only needs to be done once. To view a walkthrough video of this process, tap Video Tutorial.

First, ensure you have signed into your Alexa app account. Then, tap Sign In With Amazon.

Tap Link.

If successful, you should see the screen below. Alexa will now accept voice commands.
NOTE: If you are not already signed into Alexa on your light, repeat steps 7–9. If you do not see the paired lights in the Alexa App under Devices, refresh the Alexa App.

To pair additional SYLVANIA Wi-Fi lamps, repeat Steps 1–6.
NOTE: You must pair additional lights to the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app first, or Alexa will not find them. After pairing to the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app, Alexa will automatically discover your lights.
CONNECT WI-FI LIGHTS TO GOOGLE

Open the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app.

If you already have a SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi
Account, login with your existing account. Otherwise, tap Register to create a new account.

Tap +.

At this point, power on the device.
Within a few moments, a prompt will appear. Tap on Go to add.

Tap Link with Google Assistant.

Tap Agree and Link

Tap the light you want to add.

Select the room for your light and tap Next.

If creating a new room, you will have the option to edit your room name.
Tap Continue when you are done. Your light(s) are now able to accept voice controls

If you want to pair additional lights, repeat Steps 1–6. Please note that any additional lights must be paired to the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app first before it is discovered automatically in the Google Home App.

You can find additional paired lights in the Google Home app, under Linked to you. If they were just paired, you’ll need to assign them to a room. Tap on the light you want to assign.
SET UP APPLE SIRI SHORTCUTS
Wi-Fi lights and Siri Shortcuts SYLVANIA Wi-Fi lights can also be voice controlled via Siri shortcuts with an iOS device with iOS 12 or later. No hub is required. This process is done within the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app. Please note that these lights do not support Apple Home.

Open the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app.

Log into your existing SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi account, or tap Register to create a new account.

Tap +.

If paired successfully you will see the following screen

At this point, power on the device.
Within a few moments, a prompt will appear. Tap on Go to add.

Go back to the home page and tap Automation.

Tap +.

In Execute Actions Below, tap + or Add Action.

Select the light or group you want to control.
-
Select your functionality: Basic Control changes color temperature (warm to cool) and brightness. Color Control changes colors (red, blue, orange, etc.) and brightness. Tap Next when done.

Name your scene if you haven’t done soil-ready. Tap Save.

Tap Add to Siri.

Tap Add to Siri.

Enter a phrase to tell Siri to run your shortcut. For example, “Turn off lights.” Siri will run your shortcut with the phrase you entered. Tap Add to Siri when done.
NOTE: When deleting a Siri shortcut phrase, you must delete it in both the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app and Apple’s Shortcuts app. If you delete the phrase in only the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app and try to add it again, an error will appear.
FAQ: GENERAL QUESTIONS

Why isn’t setup automatic?
We are working on a bulb that “automatically connects” but this technology is not available yet. -
Why is the setup different for each manufacturer?
Each manufacturer’s devices talk to the bulb and control it in different ways

Can I connect my bulb directly to Alexa/Hey Google?.
Unfortunately, no. The SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app is required to tell the bulb which system to us -
Does this bulb work with iPhones and iPads?
Yes! Use the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app, Amazon Alexa, or Google Home apps on your iPhone or iPad to control your light(s). -
What are the minimum software/OS requirements?
The SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app can operate with iPhone 6 (or higher) and Android models five years old or younger. -
How do I change colors by voice control?
Using Alexa, you can say, “Alexa, turn my light(s) red.”
Using Hey Google, you can say, “Hey Google, turn my light(s) red.”
To use Siri, first set up a scene in the SYLVANIA Smart Wifi app. Please note this light does not support Apple Home. -
Can I automate this bulb?
Yes! You can create routines and scenes in the SYLVANIA Smart WiFi app.
You can create routines (not scenes) in the Alexa and Hey Google apps. -
How do I run a routine?
Tell your voice assistant, “Turn on [routine name].” For example, “Alexa, turn on TV Time.” -
Does this bulb work with IFTTT?
SYLVANIA SMART+ lights do not currently work with IFTTT. -
Can it be used outside/is it weather-proofed?
SYLVANIA SMART+ lights are not rated for outdoor use. -
Can I update the firmware with just the Google Home or Alexa app?
No. You must use the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app to update the bulb’s firmware. -
How do I reset the bulb?
Screw it into a lamp socket and turn it on and off five times -
. Is this a multicolor bulb?
Depends. The soft white bulb can produce only soft white (2700K). The full color bulb can produce up to about 16,000,000 colors. -
Can I loop the colors, or fade from one to another?
Yes, you can do this with the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi app, using the Leisure effect. -
Can I dim the bulb?
Yes, you can dim the bulb using the SYLVANIA Smart Wi-Fi, Hey Google, or Alexa apps. -
How bright is this bulb?
The A19 bulb replaces a traditional 60w bulb and puts out 800 lumens.
The BR30 soft white bulb is 775 lumens, while the BR30 full color is 750 lumens.

Can I put the bulb in a totally enclosed lighting fixture?
This bulb is not for use in totally enclosed fixtures. -
Does this bulb require a hub?
This light does not require a hub. It can work directly with your phone. -
Do I always have to have Wi-Fi turned on to use it?
The bulb requires a Wi-Fi connection with your phone only during pairing. The Google Assistant and Amazon Echo keep a constant connection to your light, so using those, you may turn Wi-Fi off on your phone. -
Will it work with a Philips Hue bridge?
No, Philips is a different brand, and connects with different technology. -
Is there a limit to how many bulbs I can connect?
The maximum number of lamps is limited by your home layout (walls, floor etc.), as well as the type and proximity of your Wi-Fi router, and other factors -
.Does this bulb work with Home Kit?
No, this bulb is not compatible with Apple Home Kit. -
Does this work with European/220v outlets?
No, this product is engineered for US outlets only (120V) -
Can I put the bulb on an outlet controlled by a light switch?
Yes. We suggest you leave the light switch in the on position. Otherwise, it will be unavailable by app or voice control until you flip the switch back on. Using a wall switch does not harm the bulb. -
Does the bulb remember settings after it’s turned off?
Yes. The bulb will remember all settings until it is reset (by turning it on and off five consecutive times).
